A alternative way to stop the cool page spammers

Archive: 8 posts

If you have seen LBPC in the last 5 hours, you might have seen the topic "A Call To Arms!", (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=28309-A-Call-to-Arms!&p=491569#post491569)the purpose of this topic was to gather a group of people, and abuse the good grief system to get them off the cool pages. Although it had a noble cause, it is illegal to abuse the good grief system.
Why does stephinie_ravens copy and re-post levels? She is being fueled by the anger and annoyance of others. Stephanie_ravens herself has admitted to "running on pure infamy". So what do we do? We ignore them. Don't play the levels. Don't 1-star their level. Don't comment on the level either. Or better, don't play the cool pages. If people would stop posting flames on her level or upload obscene pictures, then she will have no reason to find more ways to anger people. If we don't take action now, this might continue through to all the way to the end of LBP1. Could we really bear this for 6 more months? This is supposed to be the golden age of LBP, so I suggest we should start excluding. Just a thought.

Yes indeed, these individuals have really moderated their behaviour. They are not ruining and corrupting a wonderful gaming experience for thousands of gamers.
As to the suggestions that the former thread was in some way negative, surely not as negative and destructive as these sociopaths? Check the good grief function on LBP you will see it does indeed have provision for scenarios like this! Two of the reporting catagories are breach of terms of service and other both catagories under which these individuals behaviours easily fall. Sad day when LBPC sides with spammers without examining the facts.
When the issues start arising on LBP2 the origins will be traced back to behaviours learned and promoted on LBP.

Guys, this is seriously getting rediculous. Zorro, your last thread was locked down and you are now posting the same thing here. Surely the fact that it was locked should have given you some kind of hint, right? I've posted here before that we have had many, many of these threads and they always achieve nothing, other than to fill the community with negativity and make things worse than they already are. No one benefits from them and the cool pages gets no better.

I do appreciate how frustrating this is, but the truth is, cool pages has never worked and honestly, if you think anything you can do will actually fix it, then you are extremely naive. Also, you may wish to check the EULA that basically states that anything you publish is fair game for anyone else to rip off. You forego almost all IP rights when publishing on PSN, so if someone rips that off, they are not in breach of the ToS, merely in breach of human decency.

Kody, I appreciate what you are trying to say and I genuinely agree with you. Ignoring these people and the cool pages is the only sensible course of action. However, this thread is definitely going to end up as a big ugly mess and whilst it's not as ugly a mess as the cool pages, I for one would rather keep it off these forums.

Now, I can assure you that MM are well aware of the issue. The new community features and LBP.me will be designed to improve the online experience. Tom is working his butt off at the moment to achieve this end, I'm not entirely sure what exactly he will be doing, but that is his focus ATM. So whilst things are bad now, they will get better and honestly, in the mean time, the best thing you can do is simply not got to the freaking cool pages.

And keep this pointless crap off the forums... please.

Hi, SenorZorro. Do not make the mistake of assuming that our locking of your thread was in any way in support of the current abuse of the cool pages, or us 'siding with spammers' as you put it. Of course, you are free to interpret it as you will.

Our job as moderators is to ensure that LBPC does not become the headquarters for witch-hunts or 'posses' and so we will intervene in cases where members are inciting others to actions that target other members. So let this be a friendly warning to all of you who read this thread

If you feel you have to take action on this issue, then take a leaf out of Gandhi's book. Peaceful resistance. Patience and kindness. Just sayin'.

As an extension of the above, I would like to point out some key components of the EULA, which is the End User License Agreement for using LittleBigPlanet over the Playstation Network.

7. ONLINE CONDUCT. When you play, you agree to be respectful to your fellow player and never to engage in any behavior that would be abusive or offensive to other players, disruptive to the game or experience, fraudulent or otherwise illegal. This includes, but is not limited to:

(a) Harassing and intimidating players. [...]

(g) Making a false report of user abuse to SCEA Consumer Services.

On the topic of copying others' work, I will direct you to the section of the EULA entitled USER GENERATED CONTENT. I can't be bothered to copy it here, but I will summarize it for you by repeating what rtm stated above... anything published on the servers has no legal connection to its original creator. Thus, any argument of copying others' work is null and void. Thus your argument for Good Griefing must rely on the republishing of levels to stick them on Cool Pages. There is nothing in the agreement particularly addressing such issue, and in fact, such an argument would be an exercise in futility. A large proportion of LBP creating community has republished levels, and since there is no definitive scale laid out for what is publishing too much, an argument can literally not be made.

I would caution you against Good Griefing these levels as a vendetta, inasmuch that it would be equally, if not more-so, in breach of the terms of the EULA. That is why we closed the thread, and that is why don't support such organization.
