Dissolve switch
Archive: 16 posts
I know this has probably been mentioned countless of times, but why not have a dissolve switch in LBP2? It sure seems better than that awful green stuff that we've all come to despise. For example, if I wanted, say, a stone wall that will dissolve when it is hit by some sort of battering ram, why can't the stone just dissolve instead of having to be stuck together with some stickered green stuff? What do you guys think? | 2010-06-08 18:06:00 Author: WilsonLBP Posts: 128 |
I think the worst thing about dissolve is the gas it leaves behind and the obvious sound effect. If there were some way to stop that, it'd be great. That being said, the trailer shows a metal fish crash into a wall, and bits of the walls simply vanish. | 2010-06-08 19:15:00 Author: Darth Posts: 186 |
Deja vu. Well, may be the other thread just died. I agree with this. Gas away, but why not everything dissolvable? | 2010-06-09 09:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming, I'd love to know what everyone else thinks. | 2010-06-10 14:31:00 Author: WilsonLBP Posts: 128 |
There are a couple ways to cheat with "dissolving" undissolvable objects, in case you didn't know. "Cow glitched" materials have the properties of one material but the looks of another. For example, you could make dissolve material that's light, grabbable, and dissolvable like dissolve, but looks exactly like stone. You could put a protected creature brain on stone, and have a 1-shot switch attached to it. The stone will fall apart like a creature when the 1-shot switch triggers. However, it will give 50 points to the player. You could "demit" it. Demmiting is a complicated process but it's low-thermo and useful. Put stone in an emmiter, and emit it in create mode with max at a time of 1. Move the emmiter. Set a switch to trigger the emmiter. When the emmiter triggers, it will emit the stone in a new place and the previously emmited stone will disappear, because that emmiter has a max at a time of 1. Still, this would be easier and lower on thermo, so I hope we get it in LBP2 | 2010-06-10 15:31:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
...You could also use a destruction switch. However, at 1:23 (I think) pieces of material simply dissapear. | 2010-06-10 21:44:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Why not just make everything dissolvable? (Apply wire to material, switch goes active, material AWAY!!!) | 2010-06-11 06:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
Why not just make everything dissolvable? (Apply wire to material, switch goes active, material AWAY!!!) Yeah, that's sort of what I'm hoping for. | 2010-06-11 10:43:00 Author: WilsonLBP Posts: 128 |

Dissolve is a great sticker base when it needs to be lightweight/grabbable. And maybe there could be a thing to highlight every wired block. | 2010-06-11 17:10:00 Author: Unknown User |

Stickers can do magix, though I am incompatible with too many of them. i hate how the stickers start looking with 1000 of them on the screen BTW perhaps there could be an additional tweak for an animation when material X dissolves, for exampe if you have a boulder hooked up, it would crumble apart and dissolve. Optional of course. Now to think the animations for them others! Glass shatters F-T-W!!! | 2010-06-12 08:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
