Which PSP Should I Buy?
Archive: 36 posts
I really want to buy LBP PSP but I'm not sure which PSP I should get. Does it run perfectly on all devices? Is there any stuff only for newer devices? I'm a bit short on money right now, so should I get it for the oldest PSP (if it runs on the oldest psp)? Is there online multiplayer? Thanks | 2010-06-08 05:44:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
So far as I know it works the same on all psp version... That being said there is a bit of a debate as to which (umd or downloaded) version loads faster. I have heard the same thing from both sides, but that comes down to personal preference (get a case and book or forgo that for a downloaded one). It should work great on all of them. Also, there is no online multiplayer. There is speculation that playing online with others is impossible with the current psp hardware. | 2010-06-08 06:22:00 Author: Captain Rule Posts: 360 |

Q: Which PSP should i buy? Answer: Wait a week and see if you like the PSP2 when e3 comesss Not sure. I really only want a system that allows me to play LBP anywhere. I don't really care about any of the other games | 2010-06-08 07:11:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
I'm guessing the PSP 1000 is the cheapest. | 2010-06-08 08:22:00 Author: TheNerd Posts: 840 |

I don't think there's any debate, the downloaded version loads faster then UMD, no question about it, same way with anything. You also do get the manual and book, just in digital form. If you don't plan on getting a digital version, then the 2000 and 3000 reads UMD's faster then the 1000, not to drastically but something to consider. Anyway, i'd reccomend a 2000 myself, but really it's up to you (and the pricing) I suggest checking Ebay for PSP 1000's. | 2010-06-08 10:31:00 Author: MattAstr Posts: 99 |
You currently get 10 games (including LBP) for free with a PSPgo, I believe. If you can't find the offer a normal PSP will do. | 2010-06-08 11:30:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Is that offer sometihng that will show up in the stores, as I had a (very) quick scan through and it looks like you just buy the PSP and then can download after for free.... I'm Currently considering that offer depending on what exactly the deal is.... | 2010-06-08 12:15:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

PSP Go. You can use a PS3 Bluetooth controller with it, and you can hook it up to your TV and use it like a console if you like. Totally worth it especially considering you'd be getting LBP with it free. | 2010-06-08 16:26:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |

I might just do that 10 free games deal. I'll save a lot of money. But you can't sell digital copies which kind of sucks. 10 games X roughly ?20 each = ?200 PSPgo = ?170 - ?200 = -?30 I get ?30 for buying a PSPgo!! | 2010-06-08 16:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
But it (normally) costs almost twice as much. You can only buy digital copies so no bargains unless Sony reduces the price. You can connect older models to your TV as well and the PS3 controller probably works with them too. The only thing you plus point for the PSPgo is the smaller size. In virtually all other aspects the older models are better, which is part of the reason why hardly anyone buys PSPgo | 2010-06-08 16:36:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
the PS3 controller probably works with them too. The controller only works on the go because the go has bluetooth capabilities. | 2010-06-08 16:43:00 Author: ConverseFox Posts: 2333 |
Either get a phat or a Go. They're the best ones, and since you can't get a phat new, go for the Go. | 2010-06-08 16:45:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
The controller only works on the go because the go has bluetooth capabilities. Ah well there you then. Though I don't see why you would want to play on PSP with a controller in your hand. Must be awfully tricky to balance both. | 2010-06-08 16:51:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
So it sounds like I should get an older model. Ok, thanks! | 2010-06-08 17:25:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
> Though I don't see why you would want to play on PSP with a controller in your hand. Must be awfully tricky to balance both. You wouldn't...that's where the cable to connect to your tv comes in. I have the cable for my PSP3000, it's useless, weighs more than the PSP...with the controller it becomes feasible to use. Of course I didn't think the PSP looked very good on the tv and wouldn't use it anyway...I have a PS3 if I want to play on the tv. I have a 16 gb memory stick for the 3000, I've been downloading games lately because the load times are really quite improved and it's convenient to have your favorite games without bringing the UMDs. Since you don't have an existing UMB library I don't see a problem getting the Go...but if you can get a 2000 or 3000 with a 16 gb memory stick for the same price or cheaper you might want to consider it (keep your gaming options open). * I wouldn't get a 1000, I have one as well...it's MUCH slower to load stuff, it's heavy and the form factor is worse than the new models. | 2010-06-08 17:27:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
It turns out you need a PS3 to use the controller. I don't have a PS3. The go is still worth buying!!! If you have a cell phone, you can use the internet anywhere. As in, upload lbp and download levels anywhere. | 2010-06-08 17:44:00 Author: ConverseFox Posts: 2333 |
Hmm...I cant't really justify paying $100 more for a PSP Go when the only extras I get are Bluetooth and downloaded games. Am I missing the point? If not, I'm gonna get the 3k. | 2010-06-09 19:23:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
Of course the PSP Go is better! I mean, look at all the benefits! It costs more and can't play UMDs! | 2010-06-09 19:30:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |
Hmm...I cant't really justify paying $100 more for a PSP Go when the only extras I get are Bluetooth and downloaded games. Am I missing the point? If not, I'm gonna get the 3k. Well, it's almost much smaller, but really the PSP Go is sorta a love/hate device. Some love it, some hate it. I have a PSP Go myself, but since you seem to only have interest in LBP PSP I suggest getting a 3K. | 2010-06-10 07:50:00 Author: MattAstr Posts: 99 |
I'd suggest a 1000 for price or a 3000 if you prefer a smaller/lighter device. DEFINATELY get the download version, it loads MUCH faster and is more stable too... I have both running side-by-side here and there's a very noticable difference. The faster UMD loading of the 2/3000 would be useless if you only have a downloaded game. The Go is fine if you're sure you don't want other games, but I'm betting you will eventually. I did. There's a lot of games unavailable to Go users because they're not available as downloads. (Crisis Core, Castlevania, etc. etc.) Personally I love my 1004, and can't see any point shelling out for the more expensive models since I wouldn't use the TV hookup or PS3 controller features. edit: oh, in case no-one made this clear, you don't need a Go to download games. All PSPs work with the PSN store. | 2010-06-10 12:23:00 Author: Bovrillor Posts: 309 |

no major differences apart from a built in mic in the 3000 and a wider range of colours. 3000 is best i have a 3000 and a my sister has a 2000 and i also have 1000 and i did have a 103 (now stolen) but if you are asking for the differences between the 3003 and 3002 look at the pakaging it tells you the go is rubbish the 3000 can do anythig a go can with a larger screen and a lower price and can take all add ons | 2010-06-24 17:27:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
the 3000 can do anythig a go can with a larger screen and a lower price and can take all add onsAs far as I know, the 3000 cannot provide video out during gameplay. Regardless, you can only use a component (5 plug) video cable with a 3000, whereas you can use a standard 3-plug setup with a Go. The 3000 also does not have Bluetooth connectivity and cannot be connected to a PS3 controller, and no matter what the Go will always have 16gb more storage space (16gb native plus memory card). The Go also has a smaller form factor but I don't count that as a positive or a negative, just a difference. With that said, yes the 3000 is an excellent choice and will suit the vast majority of needs. | 2010-06-24 19:43:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |

Hate to break it to you Taff, but this isn't true. The 3000 can provide video out during gameplay and you can use a composite (3 plug) video cable with a 3000 because that is the exact setup I use to record videos with Dazzle. With that said, 3000 is far superior to the Go. 3000x better than GO, jeffcu28 | 2010-06-25 01:09:00 Author: jeffcu28 Posts: 648 |
3000x better than GOSo then what's your excuse for all those races you lost yesterday? Choosing to forget the races you didn't lose, Taffey | 2010-06-25 01:51:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
You can buy replacment memory cards when you fill one up (for both) and the slidey feature makes the go easier to break and means that you cannot buy a case for the go that allows you to use it for games whilst in the case. and you can get the 3000 in a wide rande of colours and its cheaper and has larger buttons | 2010-06-27 20:15:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
