What the Magic Gloves might be

I posted this suggestion back in February of last year of a "Power glove" powerup that let you play with different super powers, like super speed, super strength, climbing, fire powers, electricty conduction for switches and melee attacks, etc.

I just saw the latest scans of GameInformer about inFAMOUS 2 and my mind is running wild with possibilities of what we could do in LBP2 if the Magic Gloves ended up being incredibly "magical" by letting you assign different abilities or powers to them to interact with your environment.

I drew these cruddy sketches back in 09.

You think Mm might have listened to this and decided to make a super-power power up for Sackboy?

Hmm, perhaps they're for grabbing materials that aren't grabbable normally?
Like metals and stone and such.

I feel a feature like that could be taken care of with a slider on material options for "Grabbable? Yes/No" like how stones and other materials can now dissolve.

I don't think something like that would warrant an entire new powerup....

I believe they "announced" the two powerups as power gloves and magic bags.

Not sure how much of a difference that makes, and it seems none of the press actually got to see them / weren't allowed to talk about them so we have no real info whatsoever, beyond the names, so if we are to speculate, may as wel get the one bit of info we do have right actually correct

I think it's all a little too vague to get anywhere with, but nice pics all the same

Wait, did they announce you can now select if materials are grabable?
I don't really remember seeing it.

Altho why wouldn't it arrant a powerup?
What's yer criteria for a powerup exactly?

No it wasn't announced.

I don't think making unusual materials grabbable warrants a power up if you compare what the last powerups have been. The last powerups have completely changed the way Sackboy interacts with his environment and have deep, multifaceted uses. The Paintinator, the scuba gear, and now the grappling hook....

They don't need to devote a power-up to grabbing materials like stone or wood when they can, just like they made unusual materials like stone dissolve in the trailer, make it so that you can change these properties in a menu slider instead.

A powerup would have a more expansive use, in my opinion. Grabbing ungrabbable objects in my opinion would work more easily by just setting it as a menu option when you lay down the material. That's just what I think right now, though. I could be totally wrong.

Wrong.
It's called the "magic glove and bag"

According to most news sites, the name given in the press release was "power glove and magic bag"... so it seems there is even more confusion than we already thought.... Looks like no-one knows anything about it then

The pwrup names could have warped in the whispering process. Is the dissolving stone in the trailer really dissolving or just creature brains? (wat about demitter? Mm seeked out rtm223's brain and hired it to do the creating when sleeping. Would asplain Cake & Steam )2010-06-09 10:45:00

The press release was based off reports that Edge said there was a magic glove and bag, apparently.

Regardless, the name doesn't matter much.
