Hi. Picnic! It is very cool, that you already published your new level. Maybe if you add some photos it will be better and it will attract more people to try it!

I gave you 5 stars and heart for this level.

I highly recommended this level for everybody, it has interesting adventure route with many cool obstacles, vehicles and puzzles. And it was madded by one of the Russian LBP member - Picnic

And it is much better done and more interesting, that author's previous creation - "invisible black" - it is note special for you, Poo!

Hidy Ho picnic!

Well, Domik was nice enough to lead me to this thread, so I decided to give the level a go and I must say that you have really improved as an author with this level.

One of my biggest issues with your previous level was that I would find myself wondering what I was supposed to do, and this is VERY irritating for the player since there is no reason that they shouldn't just back out of the level, but this time I didn't run into much of this feeling.

You have certainly shown that you have a good handle on the tools such as emitters and switches, and you handle that aspect really well. You also use the different planes very well in the level. Having the glass between the planes helped to separate parts and it really helped to improve the experience. Overall it was a lot of fun.

My issue with the level is that it looked a bit boring for most of it. It seems to me that you used very little thermo on decorations, and instead put it all toward making the level as long as possible. You certainly got a long level because of it, but the level almost feels too long, and without any good scenery, it makes it a bit hard to enjoy after a while. It would be awesome if you could make scenery a focus for your next level. I am not saying to focus only on scenery, but to give it a lot more attention. I struggle with scenery a lot myself, but I just force myself to sit there and start at my level and try to figure out what could look good. I also have friends play the level and draw me up stuff sometimes

The only other issue is that I did get a bit lost about half way through. There is a part where you are walking by this section with a lot of red glass, and you need to run all the way to the right, press two buttons which make to blocks emit below, and then progress form there. Well, first of all, you need to pass A LOT of stuff to get to the far right, and I couldn't tell if I was missing secrets or just going where I needed to go. This seemed a bit overwhelming because there were so many different directions to go, but nothing telling me what the right direction was. I think that it is good to have secrets, but these didn't feel as much like secrets, and more like side passages that will probably just confuse the player. I was also super confused about pushing the buttons to make the platforms emit. There was no indication that the platforms were emitting when you pressed the buttons, and I actually thought that the level was broken for a short while.

So, overall a great level, and you are showing HUGE improvements over your last level. I am very excited to see what you come up with next. Remember to keep pushing yourself to try new things

Hi amazingflyingpoo. Usually I especially was not engaged in a landscape of the level, but now from your words I have understood that it is necessary to give more to it of attention. In I like to take a great interest, but now has learnt from you that it not the most important thing to create interest to level passage. In following levels I will try to do the utmost not to admit last errors. Many thanks for passage, councils and the help in my level. I will try to do levels proceeding from your helps and council.2010-06-09 16:31:00

Hidy Ho Picnic! Well, it is good to still focus on level design and trying to keep it interesting, and that is more important that scenery and decoration in my opinion, but I think that it is also very important to have good scenery/decoration. Any level will get boring after a short while if there isn't much scenery. I think that in this level you did a great job coming with unique and fun ideas, so if you could combine that with an awesome environment then I think that you would really have found your groove.

Back on PS3 when I was starting to create, I began by trying to focus ALL of my attention on making unique levels (I get the feeling that this is sort of how you feel about focusing all the attention on making it interesting). I was SUPER proud of the second level I published, and I still don't think that anything like it has been made, but it looks TERRIBLE! I mean, it is just plain ugly (much worse than your level). I managed to make an awesome and unique level, but it never really got much love because it was just so plain ugly (and the level design was only ho-hum). The issue is that I was focusing all of my attention toward one thing, and I needed to focus it on many different things in order to get a well rounded level.

When I made my 3rd level I focused on Scenery, Story, Gameplay, Puzzles, and Originality, and that level really took off. So all that I was/am trying to say is to try to focusing on things like scenery, sounds, and other things to get a more well rounded experience that is both fun to look at and fun to play. If you have a hard time figuring out what scenery to add, try playing one of the Story levels or some of the better looking Community levels and be inspired by them (I know that I need inspiration sometimes ).

Hello Picnic!!

Welcome to lbpc.

I played your level and found it unique and very challenging. I like the level design, and the opening shot with lbp trees was very pretty. I like how all the sections looked different. The puzzles were cool but on some I had a hard time seeing what the switch was doing, with the camera. I know you used a camera because it pans down a bit. It takes some getting used to tweaking the camera but with a little more practice you can use a good camera shot to make really nice puzzle even better and more good for the player. The platforming was difficult and almost unforgiving. I personally like platforming that is challenging but a bit more fluid. The were a few sections that took a few tries to get through but I made it, well, I made it all the way to the bridge. I recruited my worker with the sticker switch, then another sticker switch, then pulled some switches, but I never could get to the scoreboard. I really wanted to get to the scoreboard. It was right there, on the other side of the bridge but I finally gave up in the end. If you could explain to me how to get that bridge working so I can get across I will play it again.

You did a very good job on this, there was so much in this level and I hope you make more levels in the future.

Hi VelcroJonze.

I thought that to people passing my level will not complicate to pass a riddle with the bridge, but it is very a pity. Time there is nobody it is impossible to pass this part I will explain more in detail.
After you will see that the bridge has fallen and rise on top keeping for a circle, the message in which will jump out is told that you should construct the bridge. Then having risen upward before you there will be a door which is closed at the sight of SackBoy, and near to it a sticker with a label on which you should paste a column, then appear a column. Then you should jump on it, likely is simple you have not noticed a yellow ceiling for which it is necessary to grasp, and then a feather flattery to the switch. When you switch the switch you will see that the door on the right has opened. Go there. The material which will lie There it necessary to take button "R", then with the second make as. Having risen on the crane you will see 3 objects, simply throw off them downwards and go down downwards to the bridge which already it will be constructed. And now pass hardly to the right and you will see a finishing board. I hope now to you it will be not inconvenient to pass my level.

Hey Picnic!! I made it to your scoreboard and that makes me very happy!!

I am sorry I could not figure out the bridge puzzle last night. I made to the top of the bridge and put the 3 objects down in the gas, but I never learned that made the bridge. Tonight when playing I notice the magic mouth for a little time to show the construction was complete in the cut scene. I don't know if maybe the range of the mouth could increase because I only could trigger it one time. I really enjoyed your level. Last night I had a hard time on some platforming but tonight on my second playthrough I did much better. It was still very challenging in some spots. You must like a good challenge in levels?

Well, I'll tell you what I am going to do for you, since you made a very nice level with alot of variety and I know you put your heart into it, I will give you a heart too. One for the level and one for you as a creator because if this only your second level, you are going to be an amazing creator very soon. I also rated it five stars to help get the score up a bit more for you. <3

Later my friend!!

Wow, Amazingflyingpoo and VelcroJonze! here?!

Anyways, I just got a hang of this level and the Mechanics! were Outstanding.
I look forward to only two things in most levels. That is the theme/scenery and mechanics!
Your level did very good to impress me with your tools with LBP.
What saddens me is the fact of the scenery. It looks very plain and basic. The materials and stickers don't make up for corner editing. That's like dressing up to a party with only pants
Or like salad without the dressing. Get my point?

Other than that, the level contained mechanics of an architect. I wouldn't say best, but very good! I really have not much to say. I had no problems or errors to occur. I had a solid performance and a balanced gameplay. I hath no more to say.

Anyways, your rating now! *drum rolls* (literally, rolling down the stairs)

Length: 5/5 (Dang, this level lasted long! )
Creativity: 3/5 (This level had a nice choice of materials, but consisted of a few)
Corner Editing: 3/5 (You took your time to do it, but you didn't take enough time)
Theme: 5/5 (Landscape, not so good, but complexity, Spot on!)
Story: N/A (Why a rating here? Nothing was built here. )

Total: 16/20
Aww man, it's a bad score, but at school, that would be a B.
Anyways, you deserved a 4 star, but I gave 5. :star::star::star::star::star:

Until we meet again,
-Spark
