Improved Group Controls

Archive: 3 posts

Hello. First off, thanks to all the mods and admins who will see this thread for keeping this site great! <3

My biggest problem with the site has been the group controls given to the creators. While the ability to create groups is good, managing them has become a problem for me. This has instigated itself in two ways.

When I first came here and I was a jealous noob sick of all the PSP creators who kept their methods secret, I made a group called Ripoff Renegades dedicated to showing the community how levels work. Within a few days however, it became clear that there was no need for this group, as people here weren't the secretive jerks I would have thought, and were super nice and helpful. I went to delete the group, but discovered I didn't have the right! So I just left the group to die, but it's always annoyed me that I have to be linked to that group on my profile.

My second problem comes with another group - The Great Labyrinth Development Team. Just today I tried to delete some old discussions to clear the way for some real planning, but was only able to soft delete, therefore leaving annoying marks on the page. So I figured I'd leave them as is and restore them - but wasn't allowed to! Isn't the whole point of soft delete to be able to restore?

In conclusion, I'd suggest these changes to groups:
The creator can delete the entire group at anytime.
The creator can fully delete discussions, and restore them if using soft delete.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this! Keep up the good work staff.

I think the point in 'soft delete' is that a Moderator (or Admin) can restore them. But yeah, I think it'd be better to be able to restore them yourself.

Also I don't know if anyone noticed but the groups over at MNRCentral are much more advanced. For example, they actually have categories other than 'Uncategorised' and the option 'Only owner can create new discussions'. I think that's kind of unfair seeing as this is the much more popular site, I made a thread about it before but it was ignored.

Also, I don't know about this one, but how about being able to edit people's posts within your group? You can delete them, it's just in my group there was an incident where it would have been much more suitable to edit the posts rather than full on deleting them....

I'm pretty sure that's why it's only on MNRC, as a test to see how it worked. Maybe CC just...forgot. Or he's going to surprise us.
