One Question, One Request

Archive: 9 posts

Just two things that you, the folk at LBPC may be able to help me with.

1) My question. Can anyone explain to me how you connect an object in the playable layers to an object in the front Bakscratch/3D layers via a rod or another connector? I know it's possible as I've seen it before but I can't seem to do it. Can anyone help?

2) My request. I know for a fact that some of you out there are very skilled at making letters and fonts, even whole alphabets. My request is: can any of those brilliant alphabet makers make me a certain alphabet? I would like a sort of bubbly alphabet, everything smooth and curved and, well, bubbly - like a bubble. I would use this lettering in a level of mine but I would give you credit and huge thanks for making it.

So, can anyone help me out?

If the two objects you wish to connect are no more than two layers apart, you could build it in the playable layer, capture it, and emit it into the correct layer.

That's a little vague. Have you checked out the existing fonts that are available in the community levels?

There's a couple of transparent sticker fonts in a level by Fredrik94, and Lite_Sleeper has a level with some object-based fonts.

the set-up i saw had an object in the front glitched layers about 23 layers forward so it was out of the players view but still connected to the playable layer object by a rod. i need the same set up but with a checkpoint in the front glitched layers so it's invisible but attached to a playable layer object. it is possible, i know it.

as for the font, you're probably right, Aya. i'll search around the community levels. it's just that i felt a bit safer using font someone knew i was using. also, some people here make really good font.

About the font, thething is you would be better off using not a bubbley one but a squareish one because circles im LBP have more corners which eat up your thermo
Which makes you make shorter lvls and a good few people like longish levels am I right?

i was only going to use the font once for a title and the other times would be pictures of the font. although you are right, it would eat up my thermo.

You'd have to use a lot before you noticed a major thermo hit. If you're just using it for the title and then using stickers for the rest, you'll be fine.2010-06-08 03:13:00

Hi Trip090...for your 3D issue, build what you want and emit all of it to the 23rd layer (or whatever 3D layer you want to emit it to), then select only the part of the object you want to be in the playable layers and move it back.2010-06-08 05:39:00
