Dragons of Myth: IcelandMorgana25 http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI2.pngBased on Norse mythology. Returning home from pillaging and plunder, you find greater adventure and riches are to be had. All you have to do is slay the greedy black dragon Fafnir... simple right? READY TO PLAY NOW Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la8hUP1n474 http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/ICON0.png This level is a continuation of my Dragons of Myth series. This chapter takes you to Iceland where you'll find characters from Norse mythology. Fafnir (the dragon) and Fenrir (the wolf) have a few other stories associated with them you can read about here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fafnir) if you like. Special note - Gravel's comment on my dragon in the 2nd level of this series really kicked me in the tush to do my dragon completely by myself - hope it meets with your approval Mr. Gravel. I really focused on visuals in this one - there's a chase, a boss and a pretty fun slide too. The lights are some of my favorites I've done. Hope you like them and forgive the beginning bit of lag - they looked too good to pull out. There are 12 secrets to find and a few extra bubbles for the adventurous who like to wander and grab everything. Multiplayer friendly except for one spot but if you want the best camera angles play it 1x. Want to throw a huge THANK YOU out to comphermc for all sorts of technical advice and technical help - not to mention his skills on the Viking & his house! Also to claptonfann for hours of hanging out, putting up with my occasional frustrations, and playing with the corner editing tool. Thanks to Lady_Luck_777 for the fantastic sticker on the eyes and Joey (xTrophx) for the sticker on the dragon's wings! Thanks to deathclockrulez for his seagulls and squirrel.... you are too funny - thanks! And another HUGE THANK YOU going out to jwwphotos for high res photos, video and countless plays of the level. To everyone I dragged through this broken, half done level at any point for testing THANK YOU! Photos courtesy of jwwphotos. http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI1.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI2.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI5.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI6.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI8.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI9.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI10.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI11.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI12.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI13.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI14.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI15.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI16.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI19.png http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Dragons%20of%20Myth%20Iceland/DOMI20.png You'll note that there are no pictures of the boss dragon.... you gotta see him in person | 2010-06-06 02:44:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Awesome! First thing I'll play when I get back on the PS3, I love facing those dragons. | 2010-06-06 03:00:00 Author: 4wheel Posts: 511 |
Looking at all those picture gives a bit too much away about the level i think (but i don't know, i haven't played the level yet), in my opinion i would prefer around 3-5 pictures showing bits and pieces of the level to a spectator. This leaves so much more to be experienced, to be played. It also leaves the spectator hanging onto to a rope that hangs off the edge of a cliff, they want more and the only way they will get more is by playing the level. So yea, looking forward to this level being published, all your levels are ace. | 2010-06-06 03:02:00 Author: Darkcloudrepeat Posts: 606 |

Oh you published it! I shall play this yesterday! | 2010-06-06 03:37:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
That was great! I liked how you had different routes through some areas (like roof top in beginning) for collecting points. You are right the boss of this level has to be seen, pictures wouldn't do it justice. It's an easy battle, but that's okay...I was distracted trying to take in all the stunning detail! Another beautiful entry in the series and another 5 stars and heart. Loved the scene with the big dragon eyes, that was really nice! The Viking in the beginning was also really well done and quite detailed, would have been nice if he wobbled his head or waved his club or something...he's just too static...some movement would be really good. * Using rusted bolts for mushrooms...terrible idea....who does that?!? | 2010-06-06 04:35:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
Finally! After all the times I saw you working on it... Played it earlier, and no surprise, it's an awesome level, and a great following for the two previous ones. I love the theme here, and you made a great visual work out of it. Beautiful lighting as usual (yeah I forgive the little slowdowns ), various and detailled sceneries, nice characters and an impressive dragon!! The gameplay was nice, smooth and precise, and the difficulty well-balanced! Loved the wolf part, the boss and the ending slides....Well-done! Once again, great job! :star::star::star::star::star: + <3 | 2010-06-06 05:23:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
10 out 12 - You sneaky little... Great level Morgana - as usual. The visuals are fantastic. I gotta say though, that the lag - especially at the start - is pretty heavy and starts to effect the gameplay. I love the character design in this one - from the Viking to the wolf and the sea gulls, and the the Dragon (fantastic cut scene of the eyes too). I know I complained about the lag, but it is caused by some of the most sublime lighting I have seen in an LBP level. Just beautiful. There were a couple spots that I found challenging - one in particular that I found confusing (and deadly)... perhaps I can stop by and show you tomorrow? I also had one play that the ship didn't start moving immediately. I actually thought it was broken and was just getting ready to quit and send you a PM, when it suddenly began to move. Dunno if it's just a timing thing, or if I missed triggering the mechanism that starts it, but I thought I'd at least let you know. BTW - I uploaded a pic or two that you might enjoy. The lighting makes it kinda hard to see the desired effect, but I think you'll appreciate it. :star::star::star::star::star: <3, and tagged: Beautiful and Pretty | 2010-06-06 05:26:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Thanks guys for the plays! Yea, the inital lag is a little fierce... it really calms down in the mountain when you get clear of the shadowed spotlights. There isn't a way to get that sunset look otherwise though. @ Vortex - I saw 'em. Love it! Wonder if anyone else knows the reference... besides us cheese heads and you lucky Vikings fans I figured out why the boat was hesitating on the start. Should be all fixed. Swing by tomorrow and show me the spot you had a problem with. Always glad to fix up stuff like that. | 2010-06-06 05:49:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
You're welcome, Morgy :3 Yes indeed, I had a lot of fun helping with this one. I didn't really flex my logic muscles too much, but I did help with some of the landscaping and gave Fenrir a basic shape to work with (before being animated for the chase scene). A large percentage of the dialogue throughout the level is courtesy of yours truly, as well, and I'm glad Morgy enjoyed it.I also made sum feeshes Playtesting with Yaru, Comphy, Chuck, deth and several others (if I forgot you, I'm sorry D: ) was always a blast. (P.S., his name is spelt "dethklokrulez12", but he doesn't frequent this forum, so it doesn't matter ) Now for the $64,000 question: Where to go from here? :o | 2010-06-06 07:49:00 Author: claptonfann Posts: 228 |
...breath takingly beautiful level. the sense of adventure is palpable! I'm afraid I got caught up in it and lost all my points during your homespun dragon... and worse, I died like crazy afterword, (like 8,000 pts. of death). I am so jealous of you, your level, and now your level thread! Jww pics are un 'freak n' real. Brilliant! 5 and a heart. Must you always release right before me totally feeding my inferiority complex? Did I happen to mention its beautiful? I love you...[SINGS] keep 'em coming love, keep it- coming love- Don't stop it now, don't stop it no, | 2010-06-06 09:53:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |

Another great level ! :hero: You must've spent a lot of time and effort on this. I'm not really keen on caves because they usually look all alike, but your level is pretty unique ^^ I haven't seen many Nordic levels in LBP, so I'm delighted to have played this one. I noticed you brilliantly used the camera and the available musics, everything blends. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: + <3 | 2010-06-06 12:28:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |

Wow, I wish I had half the ability you do xD Brilliant level. Beautiful aesthetics, the transition between Fenrir and Fafnir's areas was seamless. The gameplay was challenging yet rewarding. I loved every part of it! :star::star::star::star::star:<3 | 2010-06-06 16:35:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |

Nice job, as always i enjoyed this level since the start, the visuals are awesome because you managed to gave the level a nice effect in lighting and despite it has a bit of lag, the level can still be played easily. I also enjoyed all the characters you created which were very well done, you totally applied a good use to the norse mithology pack. The gameplay was very cool i considered this level as a nice platformer along with all the jumping, grabbing or simply running. It was very well applied because of the good ussage of the corner edit tool. Another thing that i like it was that you put again a treasure finding, but i noticed that when you grabbed one of those "treasures" some of them had sound and some of them didn't. One of the parts that i most liked it was the part in which the wolf followed you, this because the character was very well done. Your boss is pretty simple but its still nice and challenging, but i also think it is a bit annoying with so much lag. Maybe for a next boss fight in the future you could alternate what the boss do to you because i think at times this boss was a bit repetitive. Overall i think this is your best level so far, i rated it :star::star::star::star::star:, tagged brilliant and <3 it. Keep it up! | 2010-06-06 17:08:00 Author: ferrrch Posts: 429 |
Can't wait to play this! Seems pretty quickly after your last one! So excited!! @ferrch- "keep up" would suggest its of below quality. "Keep it up" is what you mean | 2010-06-06 17:12:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Pretty good level Morgana with good design and bosses but sadly let down by all the lag, for me anyway. Throughout the level my sackboy was floating around like he was in space. It made the gameplay very difficult. Trying to run away and jump across the platforms in the chase scene with all the lag was impossible. It even made it difficult to jump between ledges in the caves and I lost count of the number of times I missed and had to climb back up again. That was simply due to lag making sackboy floaty. It made the boss fight annoying when it could have been fun. I know you love your lighting but to be honest there's really no need to take it to such extremes. I would much rather play it with less lights and thus less lag. It would make for a much more enjoyable experience. Don't get me wrong it's still a great piece of work visually, it's just a pity that comes at the expense of gameplay. | 2010-06-06 17:38:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

The lag can't just be from the lights alone...I experienced very little lag. I noticed some lag n the very beginning (title) and during the boss fight but it wasn't enough to affect gameplay...the middle of the level was lag free for me. I assume one's connection must also factor in? | 2010-06-06 17:52:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |

Again, you managed to pull of your magic tricks to create a level in one month I saw this level a lot of times, I helped (or tried) you a couple of times, I wore my Viking costume more than ever and even with all the issues you had, you continued and, look, it's now done and beautiful! I didn't had the chance to play it since it's published but I surely will! Pros: -The music at the beginning is awesome! -The seagulls were well done and I remember them when they were pooping -The viking is astounding! -Kudos for the Moonwalking dog. I really enjoyed the little race. -The lightning is more than impressive... it's Morganesque! -The boss fight is fun, challenging and original. -Everything else! Cons: aww bummer! I don't have anymore cyber ink to write anythi- :star::star::star::star::star::star:! and a lovely <3 Simply Awesome, yet Epic! | 2010-06-06 18:11:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
The lag can't just be from the lights alone...I experienced very little lag. I noticed some lag n the very beginning (title) and during the boss fight but it wasn't enough to affect gameplay...the middle of the level was lag free for me. I assume one's connection must also factor in? Yea the connection factors into it. When I'm playing the lag is in the very beginning up through the seagulls, then it calms down a bit then when the light transitions to purple at the base of the mountain it creeps up again. People who have lag on their connections most of the time will probably have extreme lag in these areas. Sorry guys. I know exactly what's causing it. There's four enormous shadowed spotlights on the right of the level making that sunset look. It's the only way I can get it to look the way I wanted though. | 2010-06-06 18:48:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I refuse to belive the lag is caused by ones connection as you always preload the whole level into the cache memory or whatever before you play. So it's like you're playing locally. If you play alone that is. Right? Anyways I'm kind of tired of commenting on and reading comments about the lights in your levels. They look great but I don't enjoy playing them that much. I still give it 5 stars. Obviously a ton of time put into it. The dragon was epic. I hope the LBP2 engine will fix this constant issue you're having because you obviously won't remove any lights. XDDD I did find it, i was just ignored when i said it apparently. (I actually thought it had been fixed) definately going to try it, but you do realize iceland is green right? >.> its greenland thats ice It is rather acient times do keep in mind, maybe it was during winter too. @Basketsnake Bofore i had this connection, i had to use a neighbors signal which was at 20%, whenever i managed to play a level online it lagged massively, so connection IS an issue when playing online even if you play alone. | 2010-06-06 23:21:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

Weird. I have a great connection. Anyways the viking looked great but should smash something with a huge hammer ;D | 2010-06-06 23:42:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Beautiful level. I just loved the intro – the lighting was gorgeous and with the gull sound effects made for a really atmospheric start to the level. It reminded me of the Grey Havens scene at the end of the Return of the King film when the white ship sails into the sunset. The lighting was lovely throughout. It prevented the long cave section being monotonous as each area had its own different atmosphere and a lot of that seemed down to the lighting. There were some lovely luminous effects using ice and I loved the shafts of deep red evening light penetrating the gloom as you rose to surface. Cool gameplay too. You managed to keep the format of secret hunting in an underground/enclosed labyrinth plus dragon boss from the earlier Dragons of Myth levels but make it fresh by adding in an exciting race and fun slide. In this level I think you also tweaked the bubble placement so that the emphasis shifted a little from secret hunting to platforming, which again made a change. I also liked all the falling rocks as the dragon brought down the mountain – added some nice drama. Finally, the characters were brilliant. The Viking was great – nicely detailed and both funny and fierce – and the dragon boss was just superb – with more great lighting. Cool to see a level with a Nordic theme too. I enjoyed putting on my Valkyrie cotume and toting a hammer! It brought back fond memories of Noggin the Nog from my childhood ( and yes I know that will mean nothing to anyone else on here as you’d have to be British and as old as I am to have seen it on TV in the 70s, lol!). I know I said this last time too but I think your levels are just getting better and better! :star::star::star::star::star: & <3 | 2010-06-07 00:29:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |

BasketSnake is somewhat correct - if you load a level, and then sign out, I'm sure you stay in the level, but just play it offline - maybe connection problems have an effect? I'll play this late on monday... ;D | 2010-06-07 04:48:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |

Great addition to the series, Morgana. As usual I only found about a third of the gold coins, lol. The long ship was very nice, and I loved the bouncy push button pads. Fun. Of all the mythologies, I love Norse the best, so Fafnir is probably my favorite dragon. Nice job with the visuals on Fafnir! Your lighting is also terrific (as usual). I did encounter a couple minor things. After being killed a couple times by Fenrig, I was able to hop back down the path and easily collect all the bubbles I skipped because of my less than brilliant escape-from-the-Ragnarok-wolf skills. I don't know if that's an issue for you or not. Also, I think you should tweak the radius on the Norseman's magic mouth right before the ending. It disappeared after flashing up for a millisecond, and I wasn't able to read it. These are just minor issues, but the level really is gorgeous. Now to go back and find those remaining hidden gold coins! Can hardly wait to see which dragon we'll have to slay next time. St. George's? | 2010-06-07 05:01:00 Author: thanatos989 Posts: 248 |

Hi- This level has the best lighting that I've ever seen in LBP! I know there was lag because of it, but the looks of it totally made up. The chase scene was also awesome, it had great potential for players to get an enormous bubble-combo.The cutscene with the dragon's eyes was brilliantly done, and the boss looked astounding, I didn't know that a bubble boss could be so awesome. There was a whole lot of things that I loved about this level, like the fishes in the water, or the viking. This is also probably the only level that I have ever played with a Nordic theme. You have hidden the secrets well this time, because I managed to get only all but two, but I still managed to get the highscore. I didn't have any problems at all through the play. I think your levels continue to get better and better. I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:, <3ed the level, and gave you a creator <3. | 2010-06-07 17:08:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
What can I say? You've done it again. I'm a fan of most of your levels, but I'm especially fond of the Dragons series. These levels bear all the markings of a top-seed creator at the pinacle of her game, and visually/aesthetically blow the competion out of the water. (Well, actually I'd place you neck and neck with Teebonsey there...but hey). This time, the trip to Iceland is no different from the previous epic journeys...more jaw-droppingly stunning scenery accentuated by your trademark mood lighting, fun and varied gameplay with an easy-medium difficulty level, plus a whole batch of well-hidden secret areas to encourage repeat plays...but if it ain't broke don't fix it I say, so I'm happy you stuck to your tried and tested formula. I couldn't find any technical faults to point out, and the whole level flowed smoothly for me. Highlights included the opening sequence with the viking ship, the huge, spooky eyes in the dark and the final boss. I've got to say, that was one awesome looking boss! Again, 5-stars, tagged "brilliant" and hearted by me. Keep 'em coming! | 2010-06-07 17:16:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

Played this with a friend tonight and we were both blown away by it, Morgana. I've been seeing it from another perspective...seeing it on the other TV while I was doing other things, but wow! Playing it was a completely different experience. I'd say this is your most beautiful level. Medium difficulty, making it a pleasure rather than a chore was much appreciated. I'll go back and heart it (I wasn't the host) without a doubt and 5 stars. Can't wait for the next one! | 2010-06-08 02:47:00 Author: TheCountessZ Posts: 537 |
Another great addition to your level series Morgana. The cavern section is colorful and the dragon boss is great. I also enjoyed the end of the level where you slide through the skies. It didn't have the greatness of the previous "Dragons of Myth" level but I still gave it 5 stars and a heart and you kept the series' visuals and gameplay fresh. Looking forward to see the next installment. | 2010-06-08 02:59:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |

Wow.... beautiful! Seriously, I've been a bit busy lately and didn't realize you had released it! (you should have mentioned it during the silly-chat session the other night. It would have been * useful * information ). Another beautiful level. From the beautiful opening to the INCREDIBLE dragon at the end, I enjoyed every minute. When I saw those dragon eyes I think I got goosebumps. I really hate to give ANY negative feedback on this level, but being me.... I figured I would mention the only slight improvement that came to mind . Several times in the caverns there were circle-spinning-white things as part of the platforming. It occurred to me that they would fit better into the setting if they were decorated or shaped somehow. But, it's a minor thing. Great job! :star::star::star::star::star::star::star::star::s tar::star::star::star: and <3 Oh..... and an additional :star: for mentioning feeshe. | 2010-06-09 00:31:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Glad you noticed CCubbage I knew I needed something there and decided feeshe and your cute fishy avatar was exactly what it needed. Thanks for the play | 2010-06-09 00:36:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I hope when LBP2 comes around, it will be able to better handle stuff like this. ****ing awesome level, but I the beginning had absurd amounts of lag for me. After the beginning though, everything was alright. Awesome level though. I gave it 5 stars and a heart, obviously. | 2010-06-09 00:46:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Beautiful design, beautiful colors, beautiful characters---}. Just a beautiful level! :] Just a bit laggy at the beginning (could've just been me though), bur that can't stop this level from being amazing! Great job! :star::star::star::star::star: | 2010-06-09 02:29:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
Wow, if I could have given it more than 5 stars I swear I would have. The level was really well designed and that dragon?? Simply awesome. Really very good work and I look forward to trying some of your other levels. Right now in fact!! Think I'll try Egypt next! Hope you'll do more. | 2010-06-09 15:33:00 Author: Jembru Posts: 16 |
Played. Morgana your style is totally awesome, i find it so similar to my tastes. The boss is great visually, the entire level is beautyfull with some EPIC moments. Never a drop, is stylish from begin to end! I really really liked it, 5:star: and<3 | 2010-06-10 17:13:00 Author: GEK83 Posts: 163 |
I have recently been on a LBP hiatus, but decided to get on today just to see if anything new has been sent our way. I was happy to see that your newest entry in the Dragon series was up and running, so I had to play. As always, you do not let down. The time and effort that you put into all of your works are again present, and the simple yet fun gameplay made this a joy from start to finish. I look forward to returning to the community very soon, I was actually worried that creators would be waiting for LBP2 now that it was announced...but apparently I was mistaken. 5 stars, heart and Brilliant tag...Thanks | 2010-06-10 19:42:00 Author: shawneboi Posts: 221 |
Again, another amazing level, I will definately play this when I get back on Monday! | 2010-06-10 22:07:00 Author: agrx Posts: 192 |
Thanks guys & gals! Appreciate the comments and plays. I'm working on a trailer for this level. I'm about halfway done. Hoping to have one up in a day or so. Be gentle - it's my first attempt at video editing. lol | 2010-06-10 22:22:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
i played this level today earlier, and i didn't notice the lag at first. I was wayyy to busy picking my jaw back up off the floor. Amazing, wonderful, lovely, and other similar descriptive words do not do this level justice. I plan to play more of your creations when i have time, and i plan to go back and heart you and this level. =) | 2010-06-11 06:59:00 Author: DMacK Posts: 20 |
yeah i played it now (or acctualy 2 days ago) and i looooovvvveeeed it!!! It looks great and its fun to play. I played it with a friend and in the beginning of the level we had a little lagg. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 (oh btw i have stand a long time next to a seagull to proof my friend that it just pooped) | 2010-06-11 08:59:00 Author: Smelling-Cowboy Posts: 668 |
Got the trailer finished. One transition I'm not 100% happy with but it's my first time using imovie so I don't think I did too bad. I'll let you guys be the judge of that. Hope you like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la8hUP1n474 | 2010-06-11 09:38:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Oh, that's really great looking & sweet remix of Immigrant Song. Only one thing though, you misspelled sequel, can you still go back & correct that or is it too late? --Also, do the seagulls really poop? Because I'm adding some birds to a level of mine & the first thing I wanted them to do as they flew past you was squawk & poop. | 2010-06-11 09:49:00 Author: ApeCheese Posts: 369 |
Nice trailer I might finally get around to playing this one! There's a typo not sure if your aware, 10 secs in "comes an epic sequl", sequel. Probably a total pain to upload again though lol just for that. Darn snipers | 2010-06-11 09:53:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |
lol - I spell horribly. If I have time I'll reupload it. Takes about two hours. lol. It will have to wait until tomorrow night. Yes, it's true. The birds poop. lol. Just emitted paintballs but very funny if you catch one doing it. | 2010-06-11 09:55:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I did play this earlier in the week and had a little bit of feedback. In a few places in the caves I found the layer switching to be really quite awkward - not to the point that it ruined it, but it was annoying. Another minor annoyance was that some of the camera angles, IMO change at completely the wrong point. There was one in particular where the camera shows you the route up to a checkpoint, which is fine, but the cam doesn't change until after the CP so when you die, the camera is completely wrong - i.e. showing you where you have been, rather than where you are going. I appreciate that is a very minor thing, but it's started to become a pet hate of mine as all it needs is a prox / perm to change the camera to make more sense. Finally the boss fight confused me a little. I killed all the brains at the bottom and then there was a big gap in time before I could attack him from above - I'm not sure if there was a time delay or if I was supposed to do something to trigger the next part, but I didn't really get what was going on Overall it was great though | 2010-06-11 12:47:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
The past few days I've not been able to get those things I wrote about your level out of my head. I should learn to shut up instead of bashing the community like that. It's a great level with many features I don't have in mine. So you just keep'em coming. | 2010-06-11 18:46:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
I had some initial lag but the platforming there is nothing to give anyone any trouble, so no problem. Lovely background hues there too. I really enjoyed the level design in this one, it has a great consistent run-jump-run-jump flow to it. And yeh, you know the lightings gonna be something, but this one's a bit special, especially in the caves. The chase was great too, again keeping that flow going, and there was something about the layering at that part that I loved, obviously it's not a point where you can stand around and gawp, so i don't know exactly what you did there, but great work. And the eyes. Fantastic : ) No voice for the viking though...? My favourite of the series so far! | 2010-06-12 16:59:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Oh god yes! The eyes were awesome! I somehow forgot about them, but yeah, they were lovely! | 2010-06-12 17:02:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Heya! I've played the level the same day as I saw it here, but forgot to give feedback until now. The intro was fantastic I really loved the boat, and the title was great. The viking was nicely designed and looked like a real good ol' viking Cool light effects in the cave, and nice original obstacles The boss was awesome! 5 :star: and a <3 | 2010-06-12 20:17:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Hello Morgana!! Congratulations on the spotlight. This level is amazing. My favorite things of the level are the boat ride at the beginning, the platforming, the character designs, the level design, the platforming, the boss, the bubble chains, the platforming, the hidden bubbles, and the lighting is some of the best I have ever seen in lbp. Oh, and I loved the platforming!! I gave you five stars and a heart!! <3 | 2010-06-14 04:00:00 Author: VelcroJonze Posts: 1305 |
F4F time! I may be slightly biased, having gotten that awesome sneak preview from you in online create. This was fun! I got to go wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee again. (I actually deliberately missed the checkpoint so I could pop myself back to the top of the slide and go wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee all over again). The visuals were gorgeous, the lighting was frankly stunning; I can't wait to see what you do with the improved lighting options in LBP2. The platforming was great, detailed and quirky enough to be a challenge, but not so precise as to be a deterrent to the more casual gamer. The only real problems I had with the level were: - the lighting. yes, it was gorgeous, but there was so much of it that not only did it slow down the game, it also caused my PS3 to start overheating (which is a problem in a non-air conditioned apartment, I'll grant). It was also slightly too dark in places, though I concede this may be a problem with my Bravia, which automatically dims the screen slightly in the dark. - the boss battle. I tend to be pretty methodical with bosses, take out one side or section before moving on to the next. I tried forever to get on top of the boss to take out his head, took me a hugely long time to realise I had to take out the brains on the other side. Of those issues, only the lighting slowing down the game actually impeded my enjoyment in any way. The boss thing was more of a 'duh' moment. | 2010-06-16 09:01:00 Author: roux- Posts: 379 |
Sounds at the start were really nice, the seagulls and such, different volumes on some of them I think. As others have mentioned, the lag. I feel it really breaks the atmosphere which is a shame. I don't think the extra lights are worth breaking the immersion. Second playthrough, I was taking the decorations off the dragon (which takes longer than beating him btw ) and one of the dragons arms randomly fell off behind the gold pile. I managed to get behind the gold pile (must have been a little bit of exposed arm higher than the gold) and hit a bubble releasing the dropdown circle thingees to reach the dragon head/arms. This happened once on my boss too once and didn't happen again, so you probably don't have to worry about it. Found 9/12 coins (btw, you should make them all grabbable or all not to keep it consistant), and loved the extra wolf character as I was only expecting a dragon. The dragon eye cutscene was a nice touch too. Oh, and also missed the final 2 magic mouths as they went by too quickly. As usual great scenery and characters. Another nice level. | 2010-06-19 10:16:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
I meant to get around to this much sooner. Sorry, Morgana! It's been about a week since I played it but I remember the details quite vividly. I doubt that you need any more feedback as such as there's nought wrong with it, in my opinion. Yeah, it was a tad laggy at the start but with the lights it's unavoidable and there's no gameplay there that it interrupts so, yeah, a small price to pay for awesome visual effects. I will say the part with Fenrir was really very dark when I played it this time round - it was hard to see him. However, I was playing in the daytime, but I'm pretty sure I was the time you took me through... anyway... I just love your use of layering and lighting (of course), but I particularly love your imagination. The dragon was just magnificent, especially those eyes! Brilliant! And all the little touches like the pooping birds and the axe-handle bubbles and the signature nooks and crannies... This series has been a wonderful journey so far and I look forward to the rest (however many are left.. no pressure! ) P.S. Mm were nuts not to have you over. | 2010-06-19 12:00:00 Author: BabyDoll1970 Posts: 1567 |
The level was very pretty but didn't deliver anything... I don't know how to put it. In the Egypt level, you had secret passageways and delightful little puzzles. In the Teotihuacan level, you had a massive temple sprawler, and that bit that I loved where you had to climb the middle part by continually raising the pillars. In Iceland.. It was very pretty, as are your other levels, the viking was amazingly well done.. But beyond that, the platforming was terribly basic. Nothing really packed a big oomph. There was jumping, bouncing, swinging. But nothing huge. I was unable to beat the dragon. Is his right arm (Technically left, but I can't look behind him. So right from a player perspective) supposed to fall off and "die" separately? Once I had destroyed all the brains on his body and on his head, nothing happened. The boss fight continued as normal. He sprayed green fire every once and a while, and flaming rocks fell from the sky. This continued for forty-five minutes and I didn't know what to do next. I went over every brainthing at least three times over. Couldn't finish the level. | 2010-06-19 12:11:00 Author: Valgee Posts: 105 |
Perhaps you missed a hidden brain on its arm? My dragon destroyed itself perfectly well. | 2010-06-26 17:24:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Thanks guys & gal The dragon not destroying itself is something I've heard about three times now. I think what's happening is if the left arm detaches from the body, the brain set up I have isn't working. It's very rare that it happens as It only happened one time in testing and I tested several dozen times. I think it's from the fire hitting the arm in a "sweet spot" that makes it detach. I'm not sure what I can do to ensure it never happens again as the fire falling is a bit random. I'll think about it and see if I can come up with a fail safe so people won't be frustrated. Thanks again for all the awesome feedback and compliments. | 2010-06-26 21:14:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Just had a play this morning, im a little late to the party! It was excellent, and a brilliant addition to the series. The lighting was excellent as usual, and I loved the litle chase sequence. The dragon and cutscenes at the end were mind blowing. I loved it. Great work | 2010-06-29 12:27:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Just played your level and once again it was amazing. Not that I am surprised since you're an experimented creator I think however that this one is the best of this current series. It simply flowed so well and I found all secrets but 2. I really really liked it. It made me realised once again what kind of great levels this community can pull off! (it's been a while I played the game so I sort of forgot where the bar was set..) The only thing I didn't like about it is that the first tierce of the level is EXTREMELY laggy. It's your level with the most slowdown ever. It DID affect the experience. I'm sure there could have been a way to make your level in a way to minimise slowdown. Anyways, great work nonetheless! :star::star::star::star::star: + <3 | 2010-07-24 05:28:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Hi Morgana I was able to play this level at the weekend and I was realy impressed by the style of the character. The viking looks amazing and the story is very entertaining. I think there is nothing more to say about some laggy places and I really can live with that - I can accept it when I receive such beautiful atmospheres :-) Also I was very impressed by the look of the dragon's eyes. I've never seen something of that quality somewhere else. These eyes are fantastic and very realistic. Well, the plattforming here wasn't top notch, but for my taste this level focus more on visuals and story than on plattforming. There is one thing I have to mention too: There are some really nice camera-angles here. Very Cinematic! All in all a clear :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 Great level Morgana!! :-) Greetings neo | 2010-07-28 17:34:00 Author: (___NEO___) Posts: 206 |
