Plasma-nator?

Archive: 15 posts

Basically, i'm hoping that they patch in a weapon power up that allows players to shoot the little plasma balls to allow for competitive level scenarios.

What do we reckon? Likely?

I think the purpose of the gun shooting nonlethal paint was to encourage players to use it for things other than just killing each other, such as using them to complete challenges and defeat badies together. LBP is for all ages, and while Sackboy falling onto a bed of spikes could be considered violent to some, it's not the same as killing each other with a gun... at least in my opinion.

That being said, I'm still expecting there to be some new powerup similar to an actual 'weapon' (sword?) in LBP2... possibly even a way to create your own hand-held powerups on a powerup template? (crosses fingers)

I think the answer to your question depends on whether or not we can attach emitters to sackbots. I'm pretty sure I read they want to allow players to make more competitive levels and this is one way to do it. We know we can do it with vehicles and material based characters because of the DCS so that's something. 2010-06-05 02:31:00

The way I was thinking wouldn't look any different to the way that he dies from plasma now, it'd just be fired from another Sackies little gun. At the end of the day it'll all be dubbed under the ERSB of 'comic mischief'.

Video removed by BabyDoll1970. Reason: Unnecessary violence.

For it to work I suppose you'd have to allow players to be spawned at different check points (to make ranged competitive level design possible) and for that you'd have to restrict single players from entering the level at all, like a more complicated level filtering system.

I really can't see why we couldn't attach emitters to Sackbots if we can glue materials to them. Gameplay nom nom
@asbestos101: I think what Heckboy88 meant that the plasma was FROM ANOTHER PALYER'S GUN, so they would be responsible for the death. I see what he means, but I don't think it's an issue that big.

So its ok to shoot people in rl?

Basically it promotes violence and LBP is rated E. This just wont work.

Are you guys kidding me right now? Yeah it's rated E, but it has a strip club in it too! So that means it must promote sex! You can already kill people, as well as other real players, so I guess LBP must promote murder! Be ****ing realistic here, come on.

In Mario Kart you can leave banana peels behind for others to slip on, you can bump others off the road, and you can use turbo to go faster. Are you telling me that, Mario Kart promotes littering, reckless driving, and speeding?

I'm sorry guys, I know this sounds rude, but if you think this is inappropriate, and that this idea would promote violence, then you're ****ing stupid.

This quote makes me want to punch you.

You miss the point. It doesn't matter what any of us think of the morality of killing other sackboys. What matters is what the ESRB and PEGI think. If they think that being able to shoot other sackbots with a plasma ball qualifies the game for a T rating (or whatever the equivalent pegi term), then that's the end of that. Personally, I'm hoping that we can do it, but we'll just have to wait and see.2010-06-05 19:36:00

Just take a Sackbot, splat an emitter emitting Plazma to it and wire the DCS to it. Voila. Ima fairing meh Plazma.
But why not to have the gun since they made the bounce pads too?

It seems there are multiple types of E rating, and I'm pretty sure that this would fall under;

EVERYONE 10+
Titles rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and older) have content that may be suitable for ages 10 and older. Titles in this category may contain more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes.

That sounds like LBP all over. And yes, there is a strip club in the Savannah's story levels. So I don't think ESRB is the issue here.

Just a night club....I was really freaked out when I saw this bride character and it's mate doing (it? Something? Or just "petting"?) in their hearty transportation thingy.2010-06-16 20:11:00

A powerup called a creatinator has been confirmed. It's a hat that lets you emit anything you like with the press of R1(and it's aimable). So you could make it shoot plasma if you liked2010-06-16 21:24:00

@PaddyJ: You haven't really read Dayne's post in this thread, have you? ;-)

Edit: However we all failed yet to give a link: createintr (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=28712-Creatinator&p=499007), with that, this thread could ... get locked?
