Questions about The PS3 & LBP
Archive: 18 posts
Well, I just got a message from the person that bought my xbox, he says his money is on hold in his account and the buyer that bought a laptop from him has to confirm he received the laptop in order for him to get the money. So I'm pretty confident in saying that, I will get my PS3. This is where you guys come in. Here are a few questions I have regarding LBP and the PS3. Question #1 If I am about 30 or so feet away from my router, and I want to play online wirelessly, what would I need to buy in order to do this? I currently have a wireless network adapter for the 360, and it's only for the 360. Question #2 If I preorder LBP, hmm, let's say 2 days before the launch, will I still get my pre order things? ( Preordering from Gamestop, so that would be the 3 costumes and pack ) Question #3 I need a mic, which one do you recommend and why? Please give me details, ( Price & Quality ) Question #4 Is there anything for the PS3 like the HDMI Cable? Because for my xbox 360, I have the HD Av Cables, connected to HDMI Cable, which connects to the 360, I have to do this because my TV is mounted on the wall and the AV ports are in the back, so there's no way to plug them in the back. That's all the questions for now, if I have anymore I will add them. Please move the thread if it's in the wrong spot. Thanks in advance!! | 2008-10-08 03:08:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

Question #2 If I preorder LBP, hmm, let's say 2 days before the launch, will I still get my pre order things? ( Preordering from Gamestop, so that would be the 3 costumes and pack ) I would say as long as you pre-ordered it would be fine... Though, we do get our codes a week in advance, i can't promise anything. Question #3 I need a mic, which one do you recommend and why? Please give me details, ( Price & Quality ) Logitech... looogggiiitteeecchhh. USB headset. Why? I hate those little bluetooth things, but that's personal preference. If you're getting a PS3 Eye that has a microphone attatched, but I don't know how well it works as I don't have one. Question #4 Is there anything for the PS3 like the HDMI Cable? That's what I can think of. My tv does have one, but what I'm talking about is the cable itself, and something that looks like this http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1132/1443648361_373b5954f5.jpg | 2008-10-08 04:01:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
An HDMI cable looks the same on both ends. http://www.k1cable.com/images/hdmi_000.jpg EDIT: Or do you mean you can't plug the HDMI cable into the back of the TV? | 2008-10-08 04:03:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
An HDMI cable looks the same on both ends. http://www.k1cable.com/images/hdmi_000.jpg Well I'm talking about something that has av outputs, which goes into the ps3. Basically, you plug in your av cables in the back of the ps3, and into the TV. But with this thing for the xbox, you plug the av cables into the output thingy, and that goes into the xbox. So no need to have anything going into the tv. Know if there is anything like that for the PS3? | 2008-10-08 04:13:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Composite cables are cheaper, but it saves a lot of hassle to just get an HDMI. Simple, just one cable, and saves buying audio cables on the side, plus automatic TV-adjusting, especially if you ever move it. If you check the GameStop site, you can pay online and pickup later if you do it a day before, but yeah, better be safe and get in now, or soon. Also remember that the Eye has a mic, though maybe not what you want. And yes, the PS3 has wireless built in the box. Works well, although an ethernet cable has some added benifit. | 2008-10-08 04:18:00 Author: Mark D. Stroyer Posts: 632 |

So if I get an HDMI cable, AV Cables are not needed AT ALL?! | 2008-10-08 04:30:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
handyman huh what's a AV cable again *BLANK MOMENT* | 2008-10-08 04:39:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
Red and white cables? For the video and audio. | 2008-10-08 04:52:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Yeah, exactly. If you have surround, that's also part of the package, as well. | 2008-10-08 04:59:00 Author: Mark D. Stroyer Posts: 632 |
If you plug in the hdmi from the back of the PS3 to the back of the TV you don't need the av chords, but if you do use HDMI you cant go back to the av chords. | 2008-10-08 06:37:00 Author: Triggii Posts: 51 |
If you plug in the hdmi from the back of the PS3 to the back of the TV you don't need the av chords, but if you do use HDMI you cant go back to the av chords. Lol why not? What if I take out the HDMI Cable... What is the purpose of the HDMI Cable, basically does the same thing as the A/V Cables right? | 2008-10-08 06:46:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Well this happened to me; I went to my cabin and i took my ps3 when it was hooked up with the HDMI but i left the HDMI chord and brought the AV ones. It didnt work for some reason, the screen was black and no sound so when i got back i Completely reset my PS3 and used the av chord and it worked. | 2008-10-08 06:51:00 Author: Triggii Posts: 51 |

Like you have to erase everything? | 2008-10-08 06:53:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
What do you mean by "Complete" reset? Like you have to erase everything? When using a HDMI cable the PS3 outputs at a massively higher resolution, (I can't even put up with AV anymore) which means that AV cables cannot accept this signal. So if AV cables are used directly after using HDMI, the screen will be blank as it will still be outputting at the massive resolution. To prevent this you can either change the display mode through the settings menu before switching to AV; or turn the PS3 off, then turn it on with the button on the PS3 (not the controller), holding this button for about 5+ seconds. This will default the PS3 back to the lowest resolution which any cable can support (this can be then changed in the settings menu) EDIT: Answering first question... Built in, but you DO NOT WANT WIRELESS. AT ALL. GET A 30ft CABLE | 2008-10-08 09:10:00 Author: Capn P Posts: 100 |
Built in, but you DO NOT WANT WIRELESS. AT ALL. GET A 30ft CABLE I don't want wireless either but I don't want to have a cable running from my room all the way to the other side of the house X_X Hopefully we'll be getting another place to plug the internet into soon... But yes, the HDMI is superior to any cable I've used so far. When using the AV cables the text was chunky and I could barely read it... but with the HDMI everything looks great =) Like I said, the back of the PS3 has an HDMI port so that's the one and only cable you need... However, the PS3 does not come with this cable, but you said you already have it so that's good. I can't think of anything else you need to know. | 2008-10-08 17:43:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
well their one thing, you can know watch blu ray movie in high def, lol, serious, if you got any X-box 360 and the only reason you are buying the ps3 is for lbp it a waste of money, no offence, because all you are doing is buying a console for a couple of extra game, as ps3 and 360 share almost every game, i not saying that the LBP and PS3 is not worth buying but their no put in paying ?250-?300 for lbp, so make sure you get other game with it cause alls you doing is paying a lot of money for one great game, which is not worth it | 2008-10-12 17:05:00 Author: panzer3000 Posts: 362 |
