double tap r1

Method 1:


Double Tap

Resting point of the double tap switch. The grab switch is set to 1-shot and connected to the emitter:

Grab the switch and we get an emitted key:

This activates the magnetic switch which makes the piston extend:

If you hold the grab, or just tap once, then the emitter times out and you return to start:

If you tap once to trigger the motion of the emiter and then tap again before the emitted key times out, then the following happens:

The left hand mag switch detects a double tap and triggers the required function.


Method 2:


Also i have been able to make a fairly simple but reliable tap/hold/double tap, i know this is old news but i just thought i should say. unlike others i have seen, mine features a very unique but very simple double tap using emmited triangles. Why triangles you may ask? Well if you emmit one at a corner and another over top of it quickly, it will glance off and trigger a separate magnetic switch (indicating a double tap).

RobertQuime over at littlebig workshop made one for me using an emitter and a single mag switch.

You have a grab switch set to a 1 shot setting hooker up to the emitter.

you make a block with a mag key on it (lets say 2 squares by 3 on the small grid) and capture it. Set up the emitter on a frame lets say 5 small squares by 9, with an opening in the middle thats 2x6. The openign wont be totaly in the middle as two sides will have a 1 square trim and the others will have a 2 square trim.

place the emitter at the top of the opening (should be 2 squares thick here) and the mag switch at the top but off to the side and turned 90 degrees to face the top of the opening and adjusted to only about 30 degrees of detection. Have the emitter emit the block in the opening and emit the block downward with some speed and give the block a lifetime (lets say 5 seconds).

Now when the grab switch is tapped once only one block is emitted. tap it again and you get a second block. But you have to double tap it in that time span. The nice thign about this set up is it lets you set up a timmed double tap circuit. Ive used this set up to make a nitro boost for my Stadium truck levels and also am using it to make a burst fire for weapons.
