I ask some of my friends that have a capture card like GreyMRP and Memodrix but not a lot of info. GreyMRP say that I should get the EasyCap USB device so I look at different website like Amazon and Ebay to find it and I think I found one that looks nice is new and reliable here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/EasyCap-Usb-2-0-Video-Audio-Capture-Adapter-Card-Device-/140396356629?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Components&hash=item20b0466415#ht_3914wt_911 so you guys think I should get this one of another one. Also I want for find one that is cheep Please give me your opinion on want I should get I will really appreciate it if you guys leave me a link to a good one thanks everyone | 2010-06-02 01:26:00 Author: Arnald23 Posts: 1843 |
I looked into one of those a while back as i didn't think my (antique lol) TV card was working. Be careful though, I've read getting it to work can be pretty random, it seems just as many people end up sending it back as have success. Won't work with Windows 7 either. I've also seen the exact same product for more money but with a slightly different name 'EZCap', so this one could be a cheap rip off. That said, if you're happy with the fact that there's a chance it might be load of rubbish, it's probably worth the risk at that price! | 2010-06-02 09:30:00 Author: Kiminski Posts: 545 |
Unless you have a monster pc i wouldn't reccommend the AverMedia ones. It seems most of them do software based decoding of the HD signal. the software that comes with them will freak out if you try to record as well, slowing to a crawl and skipping frames. I ended up having to use a separate program to even record. On the up side, not many cards seem to offer an HDMI port....But it's really not worth the trouble in hindsight. One that does component would work just as well. | 2010-06-02 12:38:00 Author: Memodrix Posts: 879 |
aer0blue had posted a thread a while back about a cheap component/S-video capture card he used, I think it's the same one you linked to, maybe you could check it out. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=17992-Cheap-Capture-Device-(-12)-with-Good-Quality-(link-inside) | 2010-06-02 12:49:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |

Does anyone have a photo of there PC from the back so I can see were to put it because I have no idea. Unless you have a monster pc i wouldn't reccommend the AverMedia ones. It seems most of them do software based decoding of the HD signal. the software that comes with them will freak out if you try to record as well, slowing to a crawl and skipping frames. No because I dont have the money I need one that doesn't cost a lot If you're willing to pay ?100 pounds then a HD PVR is the way to go! | 2010-06-02 13:09:00 Author: Arnald23 Posts: 1843 |
Eh. the one I use is a PCIe card. You need an open PCIe slot in the back of your computer. It goes in just like a modem or a video card does. As far as not costing a lot, what range of price are we talking? | 2010-06-02 15:51:00 Author: Memodrix Posts: 879 |
Although it's not exactly a capture card, This is what Chimpanzee uses to record his videos of levels and for the Contraption Challenges: Hauppauge HD PVR (http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=Hauppauge+HD+PVR&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=8359168698850511228&ei=S3EGTKqsA4WX4gbiodDnDA&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDAQ8wIwAg#ps-sellers) EDIT: Just seen you don't have that much money... Can you afford about ?54 ? The Dazzle DVC-10 (http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&q=Dazzle%20DVC-101&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf)1 is what JHKthree uses on youtube... Finally, the cheapest I could find you that apparently has a good quality recording is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/EasyCAP-Audio-Video-Capture-Adapter/dp/B001BWU8US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1250533078&sr=8-1 The negative reviews are from people who have misread the instructions. There are many positive ones too! Hope I helped =) P.s. thanks for asking this, otherwise I may never have found that capture card!! I'm gonna buy this as soon as I get some money!! EDIT 2: After a little more searching, I found a better version of the easy cap for ?20 (about $29) It's the EZCap DC60+ | 2010-06-02 15:58:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |

On a laptop it's gonna have to be a usb stick type thing. Be sure to check the reviews and comments for the items too. It'll help to save you from buying something that might end up not working for ya. | 2010-06-07 12:39:00 Author: Memodrix Posts: 879 |
