LBP Exp Shop Ideas

Well, exp is apparently being updated to 4.0 compatible in the week of June 7th, so I figured I might as well make a thread where we could think of some ideas of things that can feasibly go into the store to be bought with points.

For those confused about the whole exp thing, check here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=199556). Although we'd have more features probably because we'll be in 4.0

I'll just list any ideas in the first post (aka here) so that CC can check and see if any spike his interests.

User Services
Already kind of talked to CC about this for Sackinma, but essentially someone who has some kind of service (trailer making, screenshot taking, sig/ avatar making, w/e) could obtain a spot in the store. People would buy this, and then they would make it for them. Basically, buying services with exp, because sometimes just taking anyone who asks can be too much. -RockSauron


Well... Yeah. Anyone have any other ideas for what would be in there? All that we had before were stickers that appeared under your name to the left of posts, username changes and bundles (which are now enable via rep), so I assume at least username change will return so don't bother suggesting that. But yeah, any other ideas perchance?

Also... While we're here, exp brings with it the opportunity for "achievements", like reaching a certain amount of posts or something. Not sure if CC would want that, but yes, just saying if you want to say anything about that.

Well, with LBP2 coming, chances are, there'll be a beta.

How about selling a few beta codes in the store? Any members who happen to have spare codes could donate them into the store. 		2010-05-30 23:22:00

EXP takes into account everything your user has ever done, and not... well basically everything we've built up will be there. Also, we'll have the custom exp won from contests too, and CC's been saving pms for all the exp he owes from other contests.		2010-05-31 00:19:00

How about some Exp items to make your default color for your username? i mouldn't mind a red username!

In all honesty, I'm fine with just the normal icons and bundles and name-changing and stuff.

If we were to add in changeable username colors, then how would we distinguish the mods and admins from the rest, eh? Also, I don't think adding in fonts and codes are a good thing either, since people can easily copy them and use them for their own needs.

But, if there's one thing I think would be neat to add, it'd be an "XP Contributor". Y'know, something like "for every 3-5 posts you make, 1 XP point will be donated to insert subject here" or "when you reach 100 posts, blah amount of XP will be donated to insert subject here". That, and perhaps a "betting system" for competitions. I'd definitely see that used in "LBP Survivor" and high score challenges.		2010-05-31 08:53:00

I've always wanted some kind of option to post with less than 10 characters, and not have to write with white periods. Even moderators use white periods sometimes. A feature like that would be useful with the forum games, with posting pictures, with quick yes/know or number answers, etc.2010-05-31 09:21:00

Technically it could work. People aren't going to spend a large amount of exp for access to a forum in which they mess around and get banned. If it required some kind of password to access, the password could be pm'd on purchase, and then only people who *really* want the spam can back can get in...

The spam can means all spam is neatly concealed within a can. And therefore is a nice place for people to say everything that will get them in trouble (within reason anyways...)2010-06-01 01:39:00

Spam can in my opinion was more of a chat thread, not so much a spam thread, that is the reason 'I' want it back, I liked being able to chat with the entire forum in one easy thread.

I like the concept of "services" myself... not sure what compatibility vb exp 4.0 will have with user shops (probably none), but I think it'd be nice to be able to make a shop or something and sell things... like reviews or... I unno, I think it'd be cool :/		2010-06-02 01:20:00

It was just a chat room of sorts. IT wouldn't need moderating really... we have a report button or a reason ya know !

I agree about the text colours. Would get confusing for sure. XP Contributor's not a bad idea, but can't you just give away xp to whoever you want, like you used to be able to do? I would think you'd still be able to do that. As for the betting... I doubt you'll ever see something like that on this or any other LBP site. Too many kids and too many legal implications You'll just have to keep doing it on the side.. what? you mean that's not public knowledge?.... oh, sorry :/		2010-06-02 08:59:00

Personally i like the advertising space for levels you've made, as I think that'd be quite cool. But it'd have to cost a bit of XP because otherwise everyone will be paying and there'd be too many levels
Just maybe a space on the front page (maybe to the side?) where there is like a featured levels section. Could just be a picture, a 2-3 sentence description and a link to the thread. Could seriously improve amount of feedback and be a good use for XP.

I don't think Exp will be refunded :/ Just... doesn't seem like that's something that can reasonably be programmed.

At an rate... So far, I, personally, like these ideas in theory:

1. To Buy user services, i.e. HD photos, Trailers, Sigs, ect.
2. To purchase advertising space for your level

Hm... not sure what else XD

Perhaps we COULD do something in LBP2... like LittlebigResort... where you can buy room... and then build in it... or something.

Still... there will also be achievements in vb4.0, so i'd like to know any people's thoughts on those. And more ideas for exp, course.		2010-06-04 00:14:00

Achievements should be fun, people that abuse them IE spamming and stuff should not be banned from achievements

Buying sigs with XP would be cool maybe people could make LBP stickers in LBP and you can buy them with xp and they can send it to you on LBP!		2010-06-04 00:56:00

Well, we USED to have these to differentiate people with the "gold" and "elite" trophies... before they became bundles because CC feared the trophies were too elitist. Which I guess kinda makes sense, I mean an "Elite" user

Problem with the bundles changing colour was the fact that there were so many colours, admin, mod, low bundle, medium bunddle, elite bundle, awesome user (red text, aka OCK, KAPABAM). This made it pretty confusing, and honestly in my opinion due to so many people having them, made them pretty redundant.2010-06-04 09:39:00

Do you think he means a downloadable version of the beta or the release of vBExperience 4.x? As much as I want to see the return of XP, I don't think it's a great idea to implement a faulty version.		2010-06-21 15:10:00

I made a post asking the developer how long it would be before we could see the shop and statistics. I"l give the update here if he replies back.

Also, I got it on my site and its pretty cool so far.

We all see threads at the same time, putting a delay on when threads are posted to some users would just be mean. Plus, think of all the duplicate threads when someone posts a thread, doesn't see it, and makes a new one... 2010-06-22 22:12:00

If CC implemented that early access thread thing for LBP news and stuff i would LEAVE THIS SITE!
I would probaly be able to get it because i will get a ton of XP when it comes back (I had a lot before XP left) but i couldn't stand the site to do that to new members		2010-06-22 22:17:00

There is no need to even consider that possibility, we know CC wouldn't do it. Not only would it be "elitist" and just plain mean, but any news he has would be easily available somewhere else...

... Yeah, the very possibility isn't worth consideration, so forget about it.

I like the ability to use XP to buy sigs from other users and such.
Stickers are sure to make a return, this time we should make SOOOO MUCH!!! like 1000 of em! this forum i saw once had like 1000 it was cool! :o

I guess the developer decided to discontinue the store. What a shame. I was really looking forward to it. He suggests an alternative but I don't know if you're allowed to sell custom items.

I'm checking out the points market right now. So far I don't see much potential for our original concept.
