PS3 Spotlight
(LBW5) The Paint Factory survival challengeptwob/ptwob
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/ptoobe/APhoto_11-1.jpgEnter the Paint Factory where BigXim was so unfortunate as to fall in the main paint mixer. Help him out as you try to survive a endless stream of paint and magma filled buckets and collect as many points as possible.

Ever searched fruitlessly for an original survival challenge? Look no further! Prepared to get singed, boinged and soaked to the stuffing. And the difficulty grading will keep you on your toes until you inevitably fall off the paintpots into the stink. This is a truly addictive survival challenge that will keep you coming back for more! The humble paintball, used in many a level to the point of being ignored by many players and taken for granted by many a creator. Not so in this really unique if a bit messy survival challenge level from ptwob. The difficulty ramps up brilliantly as you go from hopping from bucket to bucket to avoiding spewing paint from nozzles then both with firey buckets of death thrown in for fun. Really enjoyed this one even if all that paint covered my sackgirl in multicolor splotches of paint! You truly know you've found a great survival when you play it so much your hands begin to bleed. Using the physics of paintballs to create a unique a survival to play that is also very easy on the eye, and very springy too! Great survival challenges are hard to create. New survival challenges that test your skill, introduce you lightly and then ramp up the difficulty are nigh on impossible to find. But this fortnight, ptwob has brought us one of the funniest and messiest challenges in a while. The Rat Ruler's Castle - Part of a New Story ModeHallm3/hallm3
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e56/Snoogyface/Hallm3_Level.jpgNow inside the castle it's time to hunt down that cowardly king for some answers and perhaps a spot of tea!

The rats have returned - but this time, they're bigger and badder than ever before! Hallm3's polished gameplay will keep you moving pacily through this rathouse. There are a plethora of excellent prizes and secrets too - no spammed model trophies here! And just wait until you have to fight the boss ... it's one of the coolest bosses I've ever seen. Tired of the normal jump 'n' grab levels with the same gameplay over and over? Well worry no more, as this is exactly the level to give you that sense of playing something truly original. This goes for the gameplay and the style. Wonderfully interesting and quirky character design along with clever platforming and jetpack tracks make this a necessity to play! Cannot wait to see where this story mode brings us next! Continuing his take on the original story mode levels, Hallm3 brings us another delight that really feels like it could have come out of MM Towers. Great visuals, innovative and rewarding gameplay and plenty of fun await you here, all leading into a brilliant boss fight. An exciting journey into a new story mode is nearing an end in this chapter, but in amazing style! Huge rats, an epic boss and some original platforming await you in this fantastic level by Hallm3. And with the ability to see most of the logic Hallm3 has used, you too can create an epic level like this one!I am Just a CowboyDainBramage/DainBramage
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto_3.jpgHead out into the wild west as a cowboy looking for adventure, battling bandits and relaxing in saloons.

Run, jump and shoot in this fun, polished cowboy level. LBP-esque visuals really set the scene, and there are some awesome characters tucked away in the corners - if you can find them.Cute characters, charming landscapes and solid platforming are just some of the things you'll encounter in this level. Rustle up your controller and mosey through town taking on bad guys while wrangling up bubbles. Very lighthearted in tone it will appeal to players of all skill levels. This cartoony cowboy caper is sure to keep a smile on your face, with its cute visuals, inventive platforming and a cast of wonderful characters and creatures makes for a lovely upbeat adventure in the wild west. Yee-hah!A level full of charm, rootin? and tootin? ? I am Just a Cowboy is a genuinely fun and cute level with little major difficulty. This is a level for all skill levels to have an absolute blast playing through and also a beautifully crafted visual masterpiece. The Cave of the Green Monster: REMAKEEKR-Malo/EKR-Malo
http://s3.directupload.net/images/100516/qabv4gq4.jpgWhat starts as a trip with Sackboy's new airplane soon turns into a dangerous journey through an abandoned coal mine. This is a remake based on my first level originally published back in November 2008

Variation in materials, landscapes, platfoming and lighting keep this level feeling fresh the further you get into it. Very solid platforming that most players will find fairly easy to play gives you plenty of opportunities to take in the sights and characters. Cartoony in character design each new denizen of this level will amuse players. A fun level that isn't flashy but very cool.Cave levels are ten-a-penny in LBP but don't let that put you off, this one's a corker. EKR-Malo has brought us a great level that manages to impress throughout, without trying too hard. The platforming and puzzle dynamics are simple but effective and the prize for collecting all the secrets is genius. Just don't let the Green Monster catch you in his caves!Throughout this level you are subjected to some amazing visuals, cold temperature and lovely material usage. If you don't think you can take it then maybe you shouldn?t be an explorer of LBP, because this level is a riot to play through with some excellent visual touches that just keep on coming.2 player - EHV23 - U.F.O. pilots license schoolC_McKamey & Luos_Desruc/c_mckamey
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_25-3.jpgGet your wings and earn your pilots license in this V.R. Flight school.

Getting a license to operate a vehicle has never been so much fun before! Great challenges that teach you how to operate this responsive and well made UFO will have you flying like a pro in no time. Wonderfully lit with great use of VR material and some out of this world alien design keeps your eyes as entertained as your hands at the wheel. Once you've got the hang of it it's time to fly with the big boys in our next spotlighted level entry.
2 Player - EHV23 - U.F.O. Earth Explorers
Luos_Desruc & C_McKamey/Luos_Desruc
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_24-4.jpgThis level is part 2 of the EHV23 series. In this part you will be sent to some canyons on the planet Earth to disrupt some satellites. While that being your main goal and even granting you access to the scoreboard, you can help some fellow aliens by exploring the surroundings and obtaining various samples. Collect plants, ores and even abduct cows! The whole level is focused on two player free-roaming fun with the EHV23 in a massive level filled with caves, a volcano and even an alien base!

Now that you're all official, time to take your new found pilot skills to work on Earth! Excellent obstacles and numerous items to collect will keep you very busy indeed. Great satellite design and some laugh out loud antics involving cows make it a memorable experience. Check out the brilliant checklist that changes as you complete searches all done with an alien flair that you won't forget. Really awesome aliens hanging out in a brilliantly lit base too. Out of this world! In Search of Treasure - Skull RockBlahYourHamster/BlahYourHamster
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f313/wannaseemybacon/isot1.jpgA prettyful level involving plenty of dragging and mild peril.

Go swimming for booty in this nicely constructed, puzzling underwater cave. The visuals are excellent and the puzzles never get boring. But keep moving - sackboy can't hold his breath forever!Move your booty, through obstacles, layer manipulation and some darn pretty underwater scenes. Pretty lighting and nicely organic shapes make it a beautiful level to play but don't get too distracted or you may just run out of air. If you're looking for a slower-paced level with plenty to do and see, this one is what your looking for!Avast Ye, ye scurvy curs! All aboard for BlahYourHamster's piratey puzzler!

It's always great seeing puzzlers where all the gameplay revolves around a single dynamic, and it's a pretty tough thing to do without the level feeling repetitive, but thankfully BlahYourHamster pulls it off nicely. Plus, the whole thing is wrapped up in beautifully detailed scenery so you certainly won't be left wanting for pretties to look at, just remember to bring your booty with you! Anyone up for some deep sea diving on the scariest island of all the seven seas? Look no further as this wonderfully pretty level takes that wonderful bit of BlahYourHamster charm and doubles it. Beautiful rock formations and clever layer manipulation allow this wonderfully simple mechanic to be that bit more enjoyable! Lost Ages IIIDeftMute/DeftMute
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/elahrairha/la3screen2.jpgOur courageous sackperson finds their way to a strange and unforgiving land, once again. Descend the desert spires and unlock the temple's secrets. Find the Sun Spheres and renew hope.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cHvsg87dlU&feature=player_embedded

I'm going to be honest with you, this level is hard. If you don't like your platforming challenging and unforgiving and topped off with extreme camera zones made to accentuate the architecture and complicate the already hard platforming then watching the video of this level may just be enough for you. If, however, you enjoy a challenge, appreciate lovely architecture in a surreal ICO-feeling setting, then you owe yourself some quality time with this level. If ever a level cried out to hardcore LBP players, it's this visual masterpiece by DeftMute. If you?ve played the other levels, you?ll know what you?re in for ? a button mashing, curse-induced coma. But if you survive all that to somehow complete the level then you?ll feel like a demi-god. And you will love it!Infinity Spires - HARDSLS10/SLS10
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_27-3.jpgA gruelling, tear-inducing, mind-wrenching platforming challenge the likes of which have never been seen before. Swing, hang, and run in this gauntlet of timing, skill, and luck. Not for the weak.

Well, SLS10 is nothing but honest in his description of this level, it's hard. For those who can face the challenge there are some brilliantly designed and fiendishly set up combinations of challenges that will literally have your palms sweating while you try and get through. Checkpoints are infinite but not very frequent so when you finally do see that scoreboard you get an amazing feeling of accomplishment! If you have the skills, the jumping, swinging, climbing and paintinator platforming is very very sweet. In SLS10's words, prepare to weep! This level is hard, baby - from the R1-based flicky things to the great roller-grabbies, this level is a long climb to the summit, and boy are you glad to see the scoreboard at the top. But what made it for me is that the level was unashamedly difficult, built in a strikingly unique way, and has some very unique and challenging obstacles. I cried a little when I played this for two reasons. One, because it made me feel like a little girl's blouse; and two, because I may never see another level from SLS10 again. This is magnificent from top to bottom ( literally ) and while difficult, is fair and ramps up the difficulty nicely. Quite interesting visuals top off a gameplay masterpiece. *sniff*.We can?t say more than SLS10?s already put in his description, except that through the punishment you will come out a stronger sack! Surreal SuicideobsoleteXeo/obsoleteXeo
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_26-3.jpgI feel that my threads are slowly unravelling, and I cannot - I will not - succumb to the surreal sensations that this world thrusts at my frail fibers...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7oNwLsmsSw&feature=player_embedded

Melancholy and philosophical, how does sackboy react to a never ending existence of spawning into level after level? Explore this beautifully lit and surreal level as his internal monologue is set out before you. Great use of layers and materials make it fun to explore and beautiful to see. Poetic in tone, fans of art and story levels will enjoy this one.
Surreal is certainly the operative word here - but it's definitely not a bad thing. The whole level is gorgeous and the pacing and poetic narrative perfectly complement the fantastical scenery, making this a masterpiece of artistic expression. Up & Away In Sky Town 2jump_button/Jump_button
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4638/aphotow.jpgAnyone who played Up & Away In Sky Town should have a idea what this is about. The idea is for the player holding on to a balloon to sail across the sky, there are parts where you have to let go.

It's nice to play a level every now and then that really lets you float away on the breeze - it's not so nice that one gust of wind could blow you into a rock covered with spikes! You'll have to steer your way carefully across Sky Town 2 to come out the other side, taking advantage of some great mechanics and admiring superbly crafted decoration along the journey. Jump_button's latest level will literally blow you away!Jump_button has really outdone himself with the 3d/bakscratch glitch work in this level. Anyone who's played any of his Sky Town levels knows what they're in store for in terms of gameplay, more ingenious jumps and gravity defying floating all with your best buddy balloon. If you haven't had the pleasure of floating along on the wind in one of these levels yet, this would be a great one to start with! With Up & Away, Jump_Button created one of the most perfect experiences of LBP, so a sequel is quite a tall order! Don't fear though, as this is everything the original was and more! The scenery is staggering (my initial response was "****"!) and the idyllic vistas provide the perfect backdrop for gently floating on the breeze. Relaxing and rewarding, this level is one you'll come back to time and again for a breath of fresh Sky Town air. After a relatively difficult spotlight, there?s only one way to relax ? and that?s with jump?s latest level. Soar through a well crafted, unbelievable landscape using techniques learnt in the original Up and Away level. A calming experience, a stark contrast to a lot of levels being churned out recently, but no less enjoyable.

PSP Spotlight
Cavernous CanyonDhana777/SchottiSMhttp://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/20100526-212836.jpgSackboy flies in a small plane over the Cavernous Canyon. Suddenly the plane crashes, and he must find his way to the next town. But beware, the Canyon is dangerous!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn41la0sQ7k

Spelunk Indy-style through a mysterious and sprawling cave. Explore, investigate, and look for a way out as you make your way along multiple intertwining paths. Feast your eyes on gigantic snake skeletons, but don't stare too long or you might go for a dip in the lava pool. Crashing your plane in the desert was never so much fun.Two words: snake skeletons! You really need to see these superbly designed skeletons turned walkways in person. Wonderfully rendered shapes for the caves were also a visual highlight for me. Very cute and full of platforming too! This explosive level rattles with bone-a-fide skeletons and dynamite gameplay. Blast your way through sinuous underground caves, evade a massive fireball, and traverse mesmerizing serpentine skeletons in this thrilling adventure. With varied gameplay and bone-chilling visuals, this level will surely strike you with a cocktail venom of fun.If I had a pound for every beautifully crafted bone on the stunning snake skeleton in this level, I'd be able to bail out the Greek economy. I would say this level is worth checking out for the snake alone but it also has helicopters, explosions and cavernous cavernous canyons to keep you captivated right through.Jimmy's RoomVelcroJonze/VelcroJonzehttp://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/20100526-212417.jpgThe imagination of a child is a powerful thing. Jimmy is two years old. What goes on in a little boy's room when Mamma thinks he is napping?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7ifZtBjrzQ

There's no better way to spend a rainy afternoon than going on a mini adventure in a toy-stocked bedroom. Colorful fabrics and playful bubble combos combine with deadly spikes and clever puzzles to create a level that is unmistakably VJ. Who needs naps when you've got platforming like this?Uncle Velcro may not do many speech bubbles but when it comes to bubble combos and fast moving transitions between areas of this level, he does a lot. Very funny and sweet dialogue from Jimmy keep the level feeling light and charming but the spikes & gas are there to bring you back to reality. Miss those carefree childhood days where anything and everything was an opportunity for a wild adventure? Well, dream no more as little Jimmy pulls you into his playful world filled with exciting jumping, sliding, and grabbing to delight your inner child. With a lively and vibrant environment to compliment a youthful and bigger-than-life adventure, you may just want to never grow up!I had a childhood friend called Jimmy and his room was definitely not as fun as this. Perhaps that's why we're no longer friends. Of course, if you were to pick your friends on the basis of whether they have rooms as fun as Jimmy's Room, you wouldn't have many left, so you'd need plenty of this classic platforming action to entertain you through your lonely, lonely life.Sack Invadersfamouscustard/famouscustardhttp://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/20100526-214157.jpgSack Invaders is a re-creation of the legendary arcade game Space Invaders.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtpbbUUE4D0

This level takes everything you know about LBP and turns it on its ear. No, really... It does. Turn your PSP sideways and enjoy a faithful recreation of an all-time video game great. Blast wave after wave of pixellated space nasties into cosmic dust as you defend your planet. A clever variable point scoring system and multiple endings will have you gunning for the high score again and again. It's amazing what a change in perspective can do! Playing your psp sideways is an inspired way to experience classic arcade style action. A very fun and challenging remake of Space Invaders in your pocket - what's not to love! The top-rated arcade game of all time, Space Invaders gets a LittleBig renovation worthy of the classic game?s legacy. And famouscustard also creates a legacy of his own by introducing a unique gameplay mode by turning the PSP sideways to recreate the arcade experience. Now all you need is a mini arcade cabinet case for your PSP, and you?ll have the complete legendary game in the palm of your hands. The top-rated arcade game of all time, Pac Man gets a LittleBig renovation worthy of the classic game?s legacy. Ok, so he hasn't done a very good job of recreating Pac Man himself, and the ghosts are now pixellated aliens, and the pills are out altogether, but this is nevertheless a highly polished, innovative and enjoyable Donkey Kong tribute. Also from the showcase...

Congrats guys!

When the spotlight comes out I really start to feel the symptoms of LBP withdrawal. It's getting out of hand. Yesterday I set a field on fire, hung a rope from a crane above it and bet a friend he couldn't "ace my level".

Congratulations to those who worked hard on making these great levels. It appears I missed a lot of them; I only played "Rat Ruler's Castle", "Sky Blaster", "Artificial Reality: Hollow Echoes", and "Up & Away into Sky Town 2" so gotta play the rest to see why they made a spotlight. Thanks for yet another spotlight showcase that had us looking for great levels.2010-05-30 20:46:00

Wow! Thanks so much for the spotlight. Creating levels in LittleBigPlanet is such fun, even more fun when you are creating with friends. Those U.F.O. levels were inspired by goofing off with friends, created with friends, and now enjoyed with friends.

Special thanks to Luos for a ton of fun and two great levels. Thanks again as alway to the spotlight team for all your time and effort, and a special nod to rtm for his work on the spotlight crew.

Congratulations also to the other levels in this edition of the spotlight. I haven't played them all but those that I have are much deserving and I hope to finishes off the list over the long weekend, if I can manage to stay out of create mode that is.

Thanks again for the honor,

I really appreciate the honor of having my level being spotlighted. I've been on the forum for a while, but I've never been too active and I haven't been an active creator, either. However, I've never missed an opportunity to read the Spotlight Crew's comments or play some of the incredible levels that have been chosen before me. I am truly appreciate of the entire Spotlight Crew and their hard work and dedication, and I want to thank rtm223 for his effort and commitment as well (I hope you enjoy your future endeavors).

I also want to show my appreciation to the levels that did not make the list. Participating in F4F really opened my eyes to a lot of different creators and styles of creation, and it really inspires me to be more active on LBP Central. Several of the levels of late have been phenomenal, so once again I want to thank ALL the creators out there for continually publishing amazing work. Well done!

Another great Community Spotlight! Thanks so much for the great work Spotlight Team!!! And once again, thanks so much for including a PSP section :-D

By the way, @ the PSP spotlight team: I noticed that all the spotlight levels have video? Was that the doing of LBPC, or was it just pure happenstance the the levels that were picked already had video? I realize that you didn't pick those simply because they had video, so I am just trying to figure out how that happened since I didn't notice it before.

We decided that only PSP levels with videos can qualify for a spotlight.

Just kidding.

I got me a new toy to record PSP levels, so I made videos of the Spotlighted ones. YouTube is relatively lacking in PSP levels, so we need to bridge the gap! Expect this for all future Spotlighted PSP levels.

I have a question to all the creator in this community spotlight What is your next creating and do you think it wound make it on the next community spotlight

At the moment, a friend of mine (who is very good with logic) is accompanying me in create mode to work on a high-tech looking level. We hope it will be a good team since my main focus is visuals and story, and his are obstacles and logic. It's a good combo. So, I'm having fun with that because it's great working with someone in create mode to learn and gain a different perspective.

Individually, I may wait until LBP2. Being meticulous and picky about details, I doubt I could work on two projects this summer, but I may release the sequel to Surreal Suicide on LBP2. Several people have mentioned that the story is anticlimactic, so I may delve into something interesting with the sequel.

But ultimately: who knows? Just whatever happens, I guess.

Oh, and I have no idea if my next project will make the spotlight. I was very shocked that Surreal Suicide made it (and very honored), so I honestly have no idea.

Do those who get a lowly spotlight nod count?
Well, first I'm gonna finish Blue Behemoth. Then I'm either gonna restart on Negativity (a black and white level) or move on to another part of the color trilogy - Red Runaround or Great Greens.

That sounds really cool and that is a nice combination one works on visualization and story and the other one works with obstacles and logic I will keep that on my hear for my next level.

That doesn't sound have bad I think you should go for the black and white level that sounds really cool but I wounder what will be the theme of the black and white level or any other level you have in mind?

Massive thanks to Rtm for the time he's put in to this.

Also, woah, I was busy the week before last and I completely missed most of these levels in the level forum! Imma' have to play this list, as a rarity all of these levels beckon for me to play them rather than only most of them

rtm223 take a well deserved rest for all the hard work and time you put in to all the spotlights maybe take a little trip I just spent 3 days living in a sheep field in Wales*, if that counts Might try and get away this weekend as well....

RTM!? Noooo! It'll be OK, I haven't so much stepped down from the team, more been forcefully removed due to an unwritten rule about "double-dipping", which is apparently unacceptable behaviour** (this will all become clear soon). I'll still be knocking about the forums and should actually find some creation time now

Congrats to everyone spotlighted, props to Holguin on his first (proper) fortnight on the team and many thanks to those of the spotlight team who lasted longer than myself

*All fields in Wales are sheep fields, as are most of the roads.

**The spotlight team are very particular about their buscuitiquette, let me assure you!

I am offended! Some are exclusively cow fields!

Double-dipping actually causes a forum meltdown, so be thankful rtm doesn't like livin' life on the edge. Only in thermometer terms he does. 2010-05-31 21:17:00

Thanks for another great Spotlight. I enjoyed enormously playing the levels I was capable of playing ? and, no, I?m not confessing how few of them that was! Nice to see Hallm3 back with another awesome level and great to see some new faces too. Congratulations to everyone featured and thanks again to the Spotlight team. You do a fantastic job and probably should have had danger money for this fortnight?s episode!

I?ll miss rtm?s pithy comments on the Spotlight. Thanks to him for all his hard work. (What?s all this about biscuits? Must be code for something...)

Wow, thanks so much guys. I had no idea I was spotlighted until JustinArt posted it in my showcase. I'm just happy that people enjoy playing what I make but to have my work be considered as worthy of a spotlight is a very satisfying feeling and makes me want to start making my next level tonight. Well, ok to be honest I have already had ideas for 2 new levels since last week, but you know what I mean

The rat level seems to be locked.

Hallam3's levels are set up in a story mode-esque progression using keys. Assuming you don't have the key bug, then you will have to play through them each in turn. Although, I say "have to", in some ways it's a bonus for you, as they are all fantastic levels
