MNR type character creation

Archive: 25 posts

i loved how LBP had a portable way to make costumes while on the go (pop-it of course) but don't you think it would be nice to have a character creation system like MNR?

Features:

-Complete focus of creating characters only
-full 360 camera movement, zoom
-able to change colors of ALL EQUIPMENT via menu rather then stickers (stickers for more detailed colors)
-add emotes and such (each different character could program different EMOTES for the DPAD)

more in my head but too lazy to write...im sure there are more great MNR creation features that could make costume making in LBP2 more fun and more detailed for us who want more detailed characters

I do agree completely. Cause the only way in LBP (1) to make it different (Even if it was that type of costume piece) was to change your Pop-it color. And even if you use a sticker to make something a different color the texture of that item completely changes to that color, making it look low graphic, and tacky,

So yeah, Wish list for Costume Customization: Better set of Customization tools, more variety of random clothing, e.g. t-Shirt, gym shorts, hoodie etc.

Definitely. I think it's likely the character customization options will be improved, maybe even quite similar to MNR.2010-05-29 08:36:00

I don't faff around with my sack's appearance too much, but that would make me.
Also, higher decorations count, if they have a way to raise it without increased lag?

I don't really mess with my sack person's appearance either, but with these new sackbots, I think it'll be a lot more important.2010-05-29 17:50:00

also i hope they fixed the whole "sticker limit glitch" and remove the sticker limit altogether

sticker limit glitch was basically where youd put so many stickers in an object that all other stickers in other objects would be invisible...theyd still exist but theyd wouldnt be there and of course would reveal your materials and would be so ugly....hope they fix that since my pixel creations arent so great with half the stickers invisible at times

but yeah with customization like MNR we would have more professionally made sackboys as opposed to a nasty giant black sticker to make a jacket ALL black when you only wanted the pockets black or something

also since this is about costumes i thought id ask this....since Mm said that with LBP2 most of our old costumes will be affected in a BIG WAY (dynamic wise i guess) so i guess my question is:...you think this means rorschachs mask will animate?

anyways back on topic hopefully Mm reads this and implements it before release....or as FREE DLC...wouldnt mind either way as long as it gets done....cuz i REALLY hate how mediocre some of our sackboys look because of the limitations we have

The limits are there for a reason. I meant if they could increase (not remove) the number of decs and stickers on costumes.2010-05-30 17:16:00

^Agreed.

@Shadowcrazy
Alos, what do you mean they look mediocre?
Are you sure you're just not avid at making costumes m8?
(jk dude)

@The idea of the OP
Ah so you played another game and got influenced by its features, and now you wish some of it was possible in another game you like?
Hm...

It is not MNR!!! Its MRC! Well idea is cool but doesn't really make sense. When your playing you rarely see or almost NEVER see sackboys back. Oc it would be nice to have a free choice on colour of any piece of clothing with no stickers. There should be many more hairtypes like MRC because I am not really impressed of present ones. There should be also a way to change looks of facial hair too. When compared, MRC has much better character creation possbilities because it's one of three main things of game, wich are race, customize and share. Also lbp has play create share thing but create and share are mostly based on levels. Costumes have a very small role wich should be changed at least in LBP 2. Still have noticed that anything I want to make to sackboys outlook is able to be done, insted of huge mohawk and heavy metal hair.2010-05-30 19:13:00

I think I'll go make new costumes and karts and tracks in MRC now... I haven't played LBP in while because MRC is so good. Still I won't say it's better than LBP but I play it because it's my newest game... At least until I get Red Dead Redemption.2010-05-30 19:17:00

1st, no need to double post, if you have more that you want to say you can edit your old post.

2nd, what do you mean MRC? are you talking about Mod Nation Racers, or something else?

Anyway, back on topic, this would be a great Idea, in my opinion. Costume designers had a hard time making it big in the first game, and this would certainly help them out.

MRC is Modnation Racers Championship. That's not was the game is called. xD MNR is what the game's acronym is.

If we had MNR's character create system, I would drool. I highly doubt that they'll be doing such a thing though since it would most likely require a lot more memory than Mm has available. I'd prefer more playability/create features over better sackboy customization. And personally, create is all MNR has going for it since the career is rigged.

yeah career sucks big time but i'm glad for the support from most of you (ignoring the obvious trolls)

but yeah i don't think it would be such an issue...since they sort of have a mode like this in LBP PSP (an empty level where you only make costumes) but yeah anyways i don't think it would be that hard to code a program in game that does color swaps for equipment...it seems like something really easy to do...i mean if they can ANIMATE our costume pieces....this should be a cake walk

all i can do is hope for it

also @FREEAIM....can you take a look at the box art for me real quick? and when you do point our where the C word in MODNATION RACERS is? because i don't thing the game is called MODNATION RACERS CHAMPIONSHIP its called MOD NATION RACERS (MNR) so yeah

@silverleon - unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful...so you can get off your high horse and knock of the pretentious crap okay? terrific

you can keep up this charade all you want but i've been on this site for a good year or two and based on MANY previous posts you make i can tell your game...you're not fooling anybody2010-06-03 08:59:00

Sounds like a good idea. As long as the costume page doesn't loose features. Unless it gets options to only show DLC or non DLC items [etc, more sorting options] instead of having them all over the place or in themes.2010-06-03 09:37:00

So did you find any other conspiracies of aliens and stuff on the way there?

Moving on!

So anyways, would it really make THAT much of a difference if this mode is added or not?

Yeah with sackbots it will be important to easily make a caracter look how you want because sackbots use costumes you save as their apperance. Also I love Mod nataion character creation.2010-06-03 11:55:00

yeah I think it would be a great idea to be able to change the colour of the items using a colour wheel. I understand it wouldn't be beneficial to MM to make the charatcor creation as good as mnr simply because there is too much creativity in their charactor create system. I can't imagine anyone actually paying for costumes for mnr because there are so many pieces that you can probably conjer up pretty much anything they can without paying the money for it anyway! aslo, does no-one else feel a wee bit disapointed by the track editor. I mean its all nice and easy but most tracks look and feel the same when your done, as the alpine and jungle themes look more or less the same. as do the beach and desert themes. I think maybe had they alowed us to make buildings in a similar way to lbp's or spores creators then maybe it would've been a bit better......2010-06-03 20:43:00

sure did...like how transparent you REALLY are

bite me!

i don't have time for any of your crap

ANYWAYS thanks for the support ladies and gentlemen (aside from trolls)

hopefully Mm can add this before the game release...opens up more freedom for creation and gives us a variety of customization for our movies/games

@Silverleon Personally, I found the customization tools in MNR to be more fun, easier, and quicker to use. I was able to whip up a costume better than anything I made in LBP in the demo alone, and it only took me a couple minutes. Just look at what the MNR community has done already. So, yes 2010-06-12 06:58:00

@ShaddowCrazy please give examples, i thought that he was a nice guy. Is he not allowed to give his opinion on things?

A better place to post this would be on MNRCentral (http://www.mnrcentral.com/), since the track editor isn't really related to LBP.

If they would copy the character creation, they'd better raise the allowed amount of stickers and decs on your Sackboy one way or another. And also, the sticker grouping tool would be FAB even outside the character creation! 2010-06-12 09:03:00

you're pretty new here so i'll just ignore the "he was a nice guy" bit and you'll see for yourself soon enough after posting ideas on here and such

anyways examples of how the MNR system works?

pretty much all of their costume pieces can be edited to swap palettes easily...in LBP you could press square button for more info...which could also be used to switch palettes and such for each color

like having the week 1 shirt and being able to switch the pink in the logo with green or the black of the whole shirt with white...get what i mean?
