Check out this cool robot that can run fast and do backflips, and then fear for the future of humanity!

From the looks of it, that robot isn't actually running, it's just walking rather fast in a comedy / benny hill fashion. I have seen (on telly, not real life) one of those Honda bipeds actually run though, which was bloody impressive. Realistically, I think if robots are becoming more agile, world domination is a bit far off. Possibly they should set their sights at the olympics first

Nice vids though

@rtm223: You're right, it does have more of a running motion. Sure has come a long way since the early models that only walked and sometimes fell off stairs.

The most terrifying thing is of course that cats and robots have teamed-up.

My cats flee in terror from the Roomba.

But if robots can run and do backflips today, how soon before we start seeing the first robot ninjas? :eek:

Very impressive. That Big Dog one too is awesome how it keeps itself from falling over. And some people think Terminator and Skynet are fiction !! We have been warned.2010-05-26 17:11:00

There's a Little Dog too...it can apparently teach itself what a stable foot-hold is. It's pretty creepy watching it move...looks more like a living creature than a machine.2010-05-26 18:24:00

You would think that all you have to do to stop a robot is push it so it falls down, but they've already countered this problem!

@Gilgamech#1:
I don't think its much of a menace yet...
Now if it could do backflips while running, THEN we'd be in trouble XD

@Sybot:
That thing'd be kinda freaky to see if you're driving by or something...
Pretty awesome nevertheless.

The future is now and well within our grasp!

And the number two threat to America... Jazz robots!!

Though Japan is still the all-time champ of making unintentionally incredibly disturbing robotics:

I don't really speak Japanese, but I know well enough to know it isn't saying "Please, kill me" and yet...
