As much as it is sad, he could be easily replaced. Unlike the death of Jimmy or Dio, the bassist doesn't tend to have an easily identifiable sound in metal bands, with the exception of Harris in Maiden. He could be replaced and you wouldn't know the difference on a CD, you may live when you can see it isn't him but the sound will be the same.

Guitarists, drummers and vocalists all have recognizable styles (if they are any good) and you can tell if they aren't there. Portnoy's drumming on Nightmare is amazing, but you can tell it isn't Jimmy. Same with the new Guns N Roses, except the music is crap as well. But you can tell that Slash isn't there. That's not too say some bassists aren't recognisable, Cliff Burton and Steve Harris for example. But the Slipknot dude isn't exactly unique...

Still, RIP

Well,in an interview,Cory said that if any of the members died they couldn't make anymore records. If he sticks to his promise, then so long SlipKnot...,but I do hope that they get a new bassist.2010-05-26 23:09:00

Ehh. Corey should stick with Stone Sour.

Heretic Anthem is awesome though, mainly because of JJ's drums. Insane bass drumming.

Yeah, I heard about his death on the radio. I'm not saying pop stars should die, but whats with all the rock and metal artists dying. I may not be much into Dio, but he inspired one of my favourite bands, Killswitch Engage, they even remade Holy Diver, I like KSE one more, but it's all preference thing, I'm into new metal rather then the older stuff. Though I can appreciate a lot of it.

But yes RIP

By the way, have they discovered how he died?

Summer hasn't even started yet and the celebrities have already started dieing!

I can't say I knew who he was, I came in here out of pure curiosity, though I think it's kinda sad. I was never a Slipknot fan, but always had more respect for them than, say, ICP.
