Level creator software

So I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but my idea was a Photoshop like program where landscape editing would be possible on a computer and uploaded to little big planet. So in the case we have three layers in little big planet plus the four thin layers, in Photoshop or gimp you have the option to add more layers to your art work, this method could be used to edit the different layers in little big planet or make 2 layer thicknesses or three layer thicknesses. This thought came to my mind when thinking of how cool it would be to edit a level in little big planet with a Wacom tablet or ,such like tablets2010-05-24 18:33:00

Mouse and keyboard support is included in LBP2, so you will definitely be able to "draw" levels in the new version. Whether that extends to graphics tablets I don't know ...2010-05-24 19:45:00

I like the idea of being able to use a computer. Sometimes, I will be on vacation, and a fantastic idea will hit me, but I will have nothing but my laptop. Then I will have to either draw it on a piece of paper, or type up my idea, which doesn't translate well for me. :-)2010-05-24 19:58:00

Nay!

Would it not give a disadvantage to those not so good with computers, or that can't/ won't buy the extra program?

I have to agree with this. It just adds even more unfairness to a system that already makes visuals easier for those with an artistic inclination.

I'm SURE Sony would love to have LittleBigPlanet levels designed in Windows 7.....

If you want to REALLY level the playing field, have the controller randomly rumble every once in a while.

I dunno, it would take away the whole point of it being a PS3 game then wouldn't it? Anyway, I enjoy creating using the controller - its fun!2010-05-25 01:18:00

I wouldn't call that a fault in the system - those with less artistic inclination generally have more trouble with visuals IMO.

I'm still against this idea. More of what Silver said. I don't actually own a computer. And if such software wasn't free... Well, I think that would just widen the gap between noobs and 1337 even more. What we need are more ways for anyone to be able to be great.

You're right. They should just completely remove create mode, since people who are better at using it have an advantage.

Also, since those who are better at playing the game have an advantage over others, they should remove play mode too. In fact, just don't make an LBP2 - it'll be totally unfair.

Seriously, tho'. I still like the idea of being able to import/export levels as editable text files, then I could build levels in vim and/or write a program to build levels for me. Oh, and a scripting language too.

Hmmmm..... well, for THAT matter I'd love to see an "Any Other Game To LittleBigPlanet" conversion tool. That would be fair to EVERYONE. Can't build a decent level? Import "Uncharted 2" and publish it as your own!2010-05-25 20:39:00

Gah, you're not getting the point!

Why the are you comparing being artistic and owning a computer?!

Well fine, why not just make LBP for the computer althogether and make ps3 work only with a mouse and a keyboard and install any programs you want, yes?!
Yah, forget any rules or whatnot, forget that its from SONY and its a PS3 exclusive, throw out all the rules, why not!
Add infinite physics, allow 500people to join a pary and whatnot, while we're at it, why not simply turn LBP from a kids game into a full game-making tool for actuall game maker to make their games and sell them off?

Hey, we don't really care so why not?

This just wouldn't be worth the time/resource investment...too few people would benefit from this feature. Also the beauty of create mode is the integrated play environment...I can't model my terrain very well if I can't tell how easy it is to leap that gap, etc. I'd be happy with just being able to import an image...

* At least we'd still have Share after you remove Create and Play!

Actually, I think most of us got it... we're just being a bit sarcastic.

But.... on the other hand.... if they got the integrated play environment to work on my Windows 7 computer....

Actually I was really hoping that there would something like this in the future. Personally I think I would find it more practical to design and build a level in front of a computer than in front of the TV.2010-05-25 23:12:00

How about an emitter that emits creations from the players. custom car race, custom robot fight, custom ammo, limitless level variations.2010-06-16 10:31:00

OMG! You post this on any suggestions thread you can find just because your thread got locked down. I'm sorry about your thread being closed down, (I think that it shouldn't have been) but you don't have to spam your idea on here. It doesn't even fit the topic.

It wouldn't have to give people an unfair advantage. Because it's like PS EYE camera and soon to be PS move. People who don't live with it. People who do enjoy it. It's not really unfair. The only dificulty i could think off is that MM should spend there time making LBP2 instead of something that's cool but not exactly essential. Why would MM bother putting in all that work for something that wouldn't benifet. Also how can people be typing this if they don't have a Computer. On there PS3's? If someone else posted something similar than OK2010-06-27 13:43:00
