Explosives BREAKING my level!

Archive: 7 posts

I have a part in my level where you blow up a wall with explosives but sometimes when they detonate, EVERYTHING in my level suddenly unglues and (because the level is up quite a bit) you start tumbling down in a mass of wood. Needless to say, this is not a gameplay element I want my level shipped with. I have it resolved (not sure how exactly) but explosives are a big part of my level and if it happens again, I'd like to know why.

It's definitely the explosion. I've even tried replacing the explosives but to to avail.

Does anyone have an explanation?

Either simply unglue it of everything and hold it with a thin invisible dark mater piece or glue everything glued to it with dark matter, either should do it.

Hope that helps!

As for explanation, its probably because it "Breakes the object"
The impact of an explosive will sometimes just break apart an object("sometimes") in certain situations, could be for major reasons.
Is your termo high or low?

My thermo is about half but that's the material thermo for sure. I have about 15 materials (shame) in my level. It's an insane glitch though. I just confirmed that when it happens and things fall, Dark Mater assumes the properties of gas an everything literally falls through it. Seriously. If I put a 3 layer strip of DM at the bottom, my level still passes through it like nothing.2010-05-24 07:01:00

Yeah, do what Silverloen said... just unglue the explosives from the the rest of the level. The problem should go away immediately. 2010-05-24 12:11:00

And if that doesn't work, maybe a remote piece of DM attached with a stiff rod? (Or 0-movement stiff piston)

I've never heard of this happening to Dark Matter, everything else sounds like the good 'ol glue glitch from the beginning of the game.

Oh, and have you tried capturing the gassy DM as an object?

If it happens again, I'll try. I can literally WATCH a huge piece of wood go through DM.2010-05-26 18:53:00
