There should be a global option where players could roam around the level WITHOUT sharing the same screen, like in online create. However, this would cause problems when two or more players are on the same system. There are two ways this problem can be solved. The first is simply splitting the screen. That may mess with how the level is supposed to be viewed, though. The other solution is making that feature an online-only feature It's an okay idea, but it could cause problems.

If you go all the way to the end of the tools bag, there is an option to set the level to "Versus". This makes the level have competitive scoring and gives everyone their own game view. Split screen would be a very big pain to implement in LBP. But anything's possible.
