Short answer: it doesn't.

I believe what it does is make the action occur sooner than it normally would. So, for example, if you set up two identical pistons with a 4 second cycle and set the sync on one of them to .5 seconds, it would be .5 seconds further ahead in its cycle than the other one. It can be a bit tricky sometimes if you do a lot of your editing in unpaused mode. If you're going to be making a contraption that uses multiple synced parts, it's a good idea to keep it in pause mode and put in all the connectors before you unpause so that they'll all be synced to each other. Because of that little quibble, I prefer to make logic sequencers/timers to control the sync of my pistons/wobbles. That way I never have to worry about sync settings.

In other words:

All pistons and bolts move at a set speed if placed on the same settings (Time pause etc) the Synch option will make it move at a differnt pace from the rest.

So ye, basically what he said.

Hope thet helps!

Useful for alternating pistons (or winches).

Like, if you want two platforms to go up and down but opposite from each other so when one if up the other is down. Put them both to 4 sec but on ONE of them put the sync to 2 sec. Then they'll be perfectly opposed to each other.
