I am Just a Cowboy (SPOTLIGHTED)

I am Just a CowboyDainBramage Head out in the wild west as a cowboy looking for adventure battling bandits and relaxing in saloons. HI all. I've just finished my second level called "I am Just a Cowboy". I would appreciate feedback that anyone has. I'm willing to do as my F4Fs as I can so I won't put any limits on that. I worked hard to make this level look good and I hope it's enjoyable. Please tell me what's good and bad so I can make this better and make my next ones even better. Here are some (tiny) screenshots to give you an idea of what I've done. I wish I knew how to make these bigger but I don't have a capture card. Any ideas on that much appreciated, too http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto_4.jpg http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto_3.jpg http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto_1.jpg http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto.jpg http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx9/DainBramagePSN/IamJustaCowboy/APhoto_2-1.jpg | 2010-05-21 00:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
That looks great. I'll check it out next time I'm on ( bedtime here now ) as I love Wild West stuff. As for the pictures they are great as they are. That's the size I use too. If you really do want to make them bigger though you can do that when uploading to your chosen photo hosting site. I see from the top links that aren't working that you use photobucket as I do so when you are in your album to which you want to upload, before you do look above and there is a box and in that somewhere it says "more options". Click on that and you'll see a list of different sizes to choose from. Yours will be on 320 x 240 or something like that. If you change that to the next size up or whichever you want and then save any photos you upload in future will upload at that size and when you copy the img. code they should appear bigger where you paste them to afterwards e.g. on here. Just remember though to figure out what size you wnat your photos to appear at after they've been uploaded and change it before uploading each time as you may want different sizes for different things. I hope that makes sense and helps. I'm no expert, I was told that myself previously when I was having the same problem. | 2010-05-21 00:41:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
hmm, looks interesting and the pics sure look tasty! I'll leave comments after playing it... | 2010-05-21 01:13:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Hello DainBramage (I love your username by the way)- You have made a really great level, all of your hard work really paid off. First of all, the visuals were top notch. There was a lot of amazing sticker work. You made a lot of heavily detailed characters, with the farting frog (it was so cute) being my favorite. The shoot-out was my favorite part, but there was one thing that I didn't like, the characters' wheels would always stay even after you shot them. The end part where you went to the saloon to celebrate was cool, I liked the rotating guns. By the way, I currently have the high-score on your level with 19,710. I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:, tagged pretty, and <3ed just because of the awesome characters. | 2010-05-21 02:10:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
Just played it, twice actually, and was very impressed. I'll just list my pros and cons so far: + Great design throughout. + Funny. + Great characters. Sheriff Andy was my favourite and the guns firing were a great touch. Nice looking guns too. + Awesome design at the scoreboard. I tend not to have much at my scoreboards but that's usually because I run out of thermo. - Same as Frogboy mentioned, the wheels left behind after killing the Murdock boys spoiled it a bit. - Also at that part when collecting the bubbles I fell between the houses to the back layer and had to pop. Maybe put a small gap there somewhere so anyone doing that can get out again. - Spelling mistake at the start. You put Sherrif Andy whereas it should be Sheriff. Sorry I'm a stickler for spelling. - The cactus section at the start just has 1 small problem in that the last cactus is a tad too close to the ledge you have to jump up to and if you don't push sackboy right up to the ledge when you jump he automatically shifts to the layer the cactus is on and gets spiked. - Felt a bit short. Overall the cons are very small and not level breakers at all, just a little bit annoying and should be easy fixes. They didn't stop me playing it again anyway. I don't really need F4F but if you want to try one of my levels that would be appreciated. I have a couple of Wild West levels too if you're interested. | 2010-05-21 15:42:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Alrighty, the pictures caught me eye so I played this level and enjoyed it! Pros -Great visuals. -Character design in cowboy and rattlesnakes was great. -Shootout at the end was fun, and had very satisfying explosions. Cons -The story felt a little random, I wasn't really sure what the whole point was. -The whole water section was random too, I felt like you just threw it in there for kicks. It was a little short too, but what I played I enjoyed a lot. I gave four stars and tagged 'fun'. Could you F4f the top level in my sig? | 2010-05-21 17:17:00 Author: thekevinexpress Posts: 256 |
Hey, just finished playing your level. I must say, it looks amazing. Very detailed and fun to play through. Loved the design of all your characters. Especially the sheriff and his firing guns were impressive. Just went back and forth to see him fire them The platforming is ok, nothing special, but fun throughout the level. The shoot out (altough very easy) was cool as well. Only 2 things I liked less: - The water area. There's simply nothing to do here, maybe a few obstacles or something would make this part a bit more interesting. - The length. I finished your level and was actually a bit disapointed it had allready ended... 4 :star: and a <3 from me. Keep up the good work. If you got time, can you leave feedback on my F4F level in my sig? thanks. | 2010-05-21 21:20:00 Author: Serph Posts: 53 |

Loved it! Pros: -The feeling of the level was really well done! I really felt I was playing a Canyon level, for once -The characters were brilliant! They were nicely done, with their own character. -The gameplay was fun, it never felt boring. Oh and the scoreboard! So original! Cons: -At first sight, the water part felt weird, I'm not sure why you put it. That's all! :star::star::star::star: and a lovely <3 | 2010-05-23 02:36:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |

It looks very nice, I shall try it in 21 days | 2010-05-23 15:38:00 Author: Maxi Posts: 1176 |
Pretty neat level. I'll start off with the negatives first. Okay so the stickers, especially at the beginning was disgusting. The stickers were probably the worst part of the level. The water area was also boring, all it was was just swimming. I also disliked the snakes, they looked dead. The length was also a bit short. Lastly, some of the character designs where bad such as the snakes, frogs, and cactus. With that said, that brings me to the positives, which were your cowboys. They were excellent. I loved the way they looked, and the exploding cowboys at the end was fun and amusing. Overall, I gave the level :star::star::star:. Can you leave feedback on Farewell Ruins of the Moon: Chapter One (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26787-Farewell-Ruins-of-the-Moon-Chapter-One) by AbstractSam? LOL, that's one of the weirdest posts I've ever read. Why ? I'm assuming he probably doesn't have the game or something yet. | 2010-05-24 18:38:00 Author: AbstractSam Posts: 332 |
the title makes me think of kid rock lol. Looks interesting Actually the title is taken from Thin Lizzy's "Cowboy Song" but you're not the first person to say that. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for playing. | 2010-05-24 19:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'm already at work making some significant changes that I think everyone will enjoy so stay tuned for more updates from me. Also I promise I will get to playing at least 1 of everyone's level. I was busy over the weekend but I will get some LBP time in tonight. I have already played some of them but just haven't had a chance to comment on your threads. | 2010-05-24 19:34:00 Author: Unknown User |

Sam, thanks for the feedback. Could you be more specific about which stickers you're referring to and why you didn't like them? I'll be changing up the water and cave section very much in my next update. And I will give your level a try soon. | 2010-05-24 19:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
I can't get past those rotten rattle snakes near the begining!!! Up to that point it looks really good, especially the Sheriff. | 2010-05-24 19:49:00 Author: DrSanchez50 Posts: 9 |
I can't get past those rotten rattle snakes near the begining!!! Up to that point it looks really good, especially the Sheriff. Sorry about that. Those are supposed to be cactus actually but it looks like I need to do a better job on those . I had some bad placement on those as mistervista pointed out. I will adjust those. | 2010-05-24 19:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hey! So, you say this is only your second level? It's awesome! I DID find the begining a little frustrating - those cactus's were good and all, except for the last one, where when you jump you often find yourself jumping back a layer and into the cactus. Nothing to be worried about though! I loved the design of your characters, especially the sheriff - and the frog, and the enemies! I wasn't too keen on the water though - although I think that's been mention so I'll leave it at that So, overall, 4 stars and a heart! If you wouldn't mind, why not check out my level for F4F - Link is in my sig (Tunnel Vision) Thanks! | 2010-05-24 19:57:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
Dain - it was the rattle snakes I was getting stuck on, after you go through the timer gate. Anyways, done it now and finished the level. Brilliant job, lots of fun and your characters were really well made. I don't think the water in the Wild West is all that weird, it's Little Big Planet after all, not planet Earth. | 2010-05-24 20:00:00 Author: DrSanchez50 Posts: 9 |
Guys thanks for all the feedback. I've put as much of it as possible to use and made some changes to this level. The main change was removing the bulk of the water section and replacing it with something else but I also got to add more enemies and creatures. Please give it another try if you have an opportunity. Bugfixes: -------- Corrected spelling in first Sheriff dialog Gave the rattlesnakes a makeover The Murdock boys no longer leave behind their wheels when they die Changed the roof in the town where MrV was falling into the background Changed the location of the cactus at the beginning to keep from accidentally jumping onto it Gave the level more of a story with the Murdock Boys Completely gutted and reworked the water section. Enhancements: ------------ The entire area after the friendly cactus up until the town section has been completely re-written More creatures and enemy encounters. More Frogs More Murdock Boys! | 2010-05-28 07:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just finished your level: excellent storylevel. Visuals were good. Especially your cowboys and most of your creatures looked terrific. Those red-stickered rocks looked very nice. Also the little details, like the revolvers on the scoreboard, worked well. Gameplay was varied and interesting. I found the part where you have to jump along those (great looking) rattlesnakes rather frustrating. I'm not a big fan of those springboard-things, and died a lot there, but hey, that's just me Funny dialogue. The final shootout with the Murdoch-boys was great. If you're up for 4F4 it would be great if you could take a look at my latest level: The Strange Denizens of Interzone. | 2010-05-28 15:48:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |

You know one of the most challenging parts of this level was getting those springs to be the right springiness. I have noticed that the last official patch/update (1.27 I think?) changed the spring behavior. I'll give your level a try when I get home and get logged in. | 2010-05-28 16:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
Howdy there DainBramage, I went to play this level it was an darn good level. I actually played this a week ago and I had an hard time on those stupid springy snakes so I gave up, but after seeing that it was spotlighted and heard that the update fixed the spring problems, I played it again. I really enjoy the gameplay and the characters and dialogues are funny. Liked the moment when those cowboys randomly threw the knifes and I made them exploded with the key switch. You did a great job on the visuals and and gameplay and congrats on being spotlighted. Play my new level "The Hero Chronicles LV2 Twilight Towers" and F4F if you have time. | 2010-06-01 00:24:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
WOW! this level was awesome, i just loved the visuals for their originality, i also liked the game play a lot, this showed me you had very innovate ideas for the level. For a general recommendation, just keep creating and as always keep up! | 2010-06-01 00:30:00 Author: ferrrch Posts: 429 |

I think some people were having problems with the frog section so I increased their vertical leap lengths. | 2010-06-03 05:46:00 Author: Unknown User |
I liked level it was pretty easy and the was no problems with it. But I did find things that you might want to hide. When you make it to the watermill if you swim down to the bottom there are 2 visible peices of dark matter. Then there is another peice visble after you kill the first set of bad guys at he very end. But you can fix that with some camera adjustmens or just cover it up. I rated it :star: :star: :star: :star: Good Job! | 2010-06-08 06:45:00 Author: Unknown User |
