From Gamezine (http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/games/l/littlebigplanet/littlebigplagiarism-sackboy-stolen-brazilian-cartoon-$1312713.htm) (Currently unavailable.) It looks as though the loveable Sackboy has been stolen for a Brazilian cartoon. A new cartoon for a Brazilian children's show on SBT (a Brazilian television network) features characters that have an uncanny resemblance to LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy. The opening to the cartoon can be found below thanks to XmurielnanetX and the resemblance hasn't gone unnoticed. One YouTube user comments: "LittleBigPlanet: Edi??o Especial Para Pobres," which translates to "LittleBigPlanet: Special Edition for Poor." Moreover, the cartoon's characters also end up sitting on a logo featuring combined bits-and-bobs like the LittleBigPlanet logo, showing even more similarities. How Sony will respond to the cartoon is currently unknown, with a case for plagiarism likely being difficult to undertake. Find the cartoon's opening below and let us know in the comments section if you think it looks like the PlayStation 3's LittleBigPlanet. Here is a clip of said cartoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3EeswlY4Ng | 2010-05-20 23:41:00 Author: Silver39 Posts: 1703 |
Woah ! Looks like blatant plagiarism to me. Just colouring them green doesn't make it 'original and different' and I'd be surprised if Sony don't get on the case pretty quick. | 2010-05-20 23:45:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Wow, that's rediculous, Sony ought to get on that right away | 2010-05-21 00:34:00 Author: nitewalker11 Posts: 222 |
green with slightly coned heads :/ otherwise it seems they took every chance to make it look like LBP | 2010-05-21 00:39:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
These "things" even wear at some point a really resembling spacesuit costume.. hmm, I'm waiting Mm's / Sony's verdict on this case. | 2010-05-21 01:02:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |

And as said, it looks like they copied LBP in every way they can. Sony is gonna make some cash if they look up to this. I wish we had a sackboy smiley that looks like the one above lol | 2010-05-21 01:27:00 Author: GreatWhite000 Posts: 673 |
Wow. I was almost willing to let it go... then I saw the astronaut and the show's logo. | 2010-05-21 01:37:00 Author: Binarynova Posts: 24 |

Wow. I was almost willing to let it go... then I saw the astronaut and the show's logo. Yeah, same. I mean Sackboy has a general super-deformed humanoid shape, but... an astronaut costume AND an LBP-esque logo on an oversized skateboard? That's a little bit harder to slide as accidental. I don't know about the copyright laws in Brazil, but I assume the creators might get in some hot water now that it's gone public. I'm assuming a C&D letter will be sent shortly, if it hasn't already. | 2010-05-21 02:08:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
wow total copycat. Seriously? Copying a game based on creativity? They should get their own. | 2010-05-21 02:16:00 Author: tjb0607 Posts: 1054 |
I'm pretty sure I saw this MONTHS ago over at LBW, so I'm not sure if anything was ever released about it... Those things are creepy devil-versions of Sackboy O.O EDIT: Yup, here's a link. This was posted last year in July at LBW by mnimmo... http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/t5/General-Discussion/Sackboy-stolen-for-Brazilian-cartoon/m-p/155464/highlight/true#M80037 | 2010-05-21 02:50:00 Author: Heckboy88 Posts: 179 |
Wow. It seems as if they went out of their way to make it look as 'LittleBigPlanet-ish' as possible. Just think about it; little toy-burlap-things roughly the same size and shape of a Sackboy. And to top it all off, an astronaut costume AND such a similar logo. Just wow... | 2010-05-21 03:43:00 Author: RJA00000 Posts: 387 |
EDIT: Yup, here's a link. This was posted last year in July at LBW by mnimmo... There's another clue in the article linked to in the OP... LittleBigPlagiarism: Sackboy stolen for Brazilian show Monday, 20 Jul 2009 15:41 It looks as though the loveable Sackboy has been stolen for a Brazilian show. [...] ...so I'm not sure this qualifies as 'news'. Moving to 'Everything Else...'. | 2010-05-21 03:49:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |

EWWWW, thank god it's over! PLAGIARISM I SMELL IN THE AIR! | 2010-05-22 17:37:00 Author: Woflgod Posts: 295 |
lol, they'll probably get away with it, look at China making rip off versions of Iphones and smart cars and all that nonsense. The cartoon looks creepy as it is, I'm not even sure it would be a success. I think Mm and Sony are just having a laugh at that show's pitifulness... But maybe that's just me... =P | 2010-05-27 05:16:00 Author: ElementalPenguin Posts: 83 |
