Your uses for the sackbots?

Depends on how flexible they are. If I can program different animations for different cases, get them to use gadgets/switches, and can attach emitters and cameras to them, then by all means they will become the most important thing in LBP2 to me. Or at least chip in If there's ever some highly meticulous placement task I'm so gonna set up logic so sackbots can do it for me, even though that would probably take longer lol @jjmusicman I am trying to make zombies in LBP1 right now and my god it's a pain! Layer collisions are a huge restriction for walkers. It's either have them come in a line or hop 1 legged and have them bypass each other which isn't exactly easy. If it's possible, I'd like to make a sort of squad based gameplay where the bots all have AI, but you can take over control of any of them and switch on the fly like Lego Star Wars. As an added bonus, it would be cool if you could give the other members of the squad basic instructions: "wait here," "form up," "attack," "hide," "run away from the giant freakin mech!" You (the player) will obviously be Winston Smith (the main character) and you will basically go through the events of the book, though I may have to miss some out for fear of censorship or overheating. The DCS would allow you to change control to a different sackbot, and all sackbots must advance in order to solve the next puzzle. Seeing as you can link a DCS to pretty much anything, this seems plausible. I'd love to see this done! As for me, I'm going to make zombie leprechauns and a ninja chicken saving all the other normal chickens from a battery farm. (Ok I got a couple Ideas from Super Mario Galaxy 2 but you know...) You could have them help or guide you if you'r stuck somewhere. You can use them as a racing opponent (Easy, medium, hard.) Clones that follow you and if they touch you, you get damaged. Partner that helps solves puzzles Building helpers Put Direct Control Seats on them so you can be bigger (or smaller :3) to move big and heavy things or get through small spaces. Maybe make them the main player and YOU help them : Testers for like roller coasters or mini-games that you need 2-4 players for. First, if you really don't want people "stealing your idea," maybe don't post them on a forum for all to read . Second, instead of worrying about other people using "your idea," why not focus on making your level so good that nobody else will be able to copy it (I defy ANYBODY to make a mech that can do what mine (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=27374-Most-Advanced-Bipedal-Mech-in-LBP-VT-5-Lightning) does!) Or, you know, just don't worry about it: if someone uses "your idea" and makes a better level than you, now you can play the better level. Nobody else can ever use it even though it's been used in several other video games in the past. I'm hoping it won't be too difficult to make it work similar to the Lego games, where players can jump in and out of any of the characters, and a second, third or fourth player can drop in any time and take over one of the characters. We don't know much about lbp2 logic, so I have no idea how difficult it'll be to implement. I know it would be a HUGE pain to try to pull off using lbp1 tech (even ignoring the fact that we have no sackbots or dcs's: just the logic to control the switching from A.I. to another control system would be tough, and even moreso with multiple control systems). [edit] Then again, if there isn't an easier way, it may be possible to use a system of "relay sackbots" and auto-enter control seats. Instead of giving the players' dcs's direct control of the characters' bots, they could control other, offscreen bots. When you make the bot exit one control seat, he'll automatically get sucked into another, thereby switching which onscreen character he's controlling, and preventing him from taking over a character that's already being driven by another player. I'm making certain assumptions here (assuming that when you're in range of multiple auto-enter dcs's, the game will just stick you in one, and assuming that if you exit one and another is in range, you'll get sucked into it) and I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the logic is mostly sound. | 2010-06-06 08:51:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Gurren Lagann Sackbot anyone? by the way, anyone know if you can change what they 'follow' midlevel? If it's possible, I'd like to make a sort of squad based gameplay where the bots all have AI, but you can take over control of any of them and switch on the fly like Lego Star Wars. As an added bonus, it would be cool if you could give the other members of the squad basic instructions: "wait here," "form up," "attack," "hide," "run away from the giant freakin mech!" A sort of sackbot survival has been stuck in my mind. Imagine being in a sort of bomb survival - esqe level. You quickly run into a bunker. Soon after, the level goes dark. Then hear little footsteps, and ready your trusty paintinator. A bright light emits in the end of the bunker oppisite you. Ultimate Spiderman levels. You can play as Spiderman and Venom. As Venom, you have a lot of health, you can jump extremely far and high, and you can shoot slime bullets. The only downside is you need to feed on civilians to stay alive because your health is constantly depleting. As Spidey, you are faster, you can swing around with the grappling hook, and shoot web balls (white paint) at enemies. You have less health than Venom.
