Mirrors?!
Archive: 13 posts
I'm just going to throw this out there: What if there was a reflective material or object? Would that be too complex or is it possible? edit: dug around and answered my own question...looks like there will be a mirror material in the metals category. Hooray!! | 2010-05-20 18:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
it could be done but it would have to be the layer behind you , because if it was in front you wouldn't be able to see the refection .BOUNTY. | 2010-05-20 18:15:00 Author: howMUCHforBOUNTY Posts: 623 |
That makes for good eyecandy. Should at least. Now we need slanted mirrors in the z-axis! | 2010-05-20 18:56:00 Author: Unknown User |

What an interesting idea. Besides, I dont recall seeing this suggested before. As it has been said, it would be truly useful for creating some eyecandy. I can already see it as a mandatory material in almost every level. | 2010-05-21 12:45:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |
There's already a basic reflection engine at work in LBP1, although it is quite a limited one. I think that advanced reflections could not only deliver some great eyecandy, but could be used as a gameplay element as well. It all depends on the degree of realism put in the engine. | 2010-05-21 14:40:00 Author: Treas Posts: 223 |
What if it were a tool from the tools bag (like spikes) and it didn't reflect Sackboy, but light. Like, you shine a laser/spotlight on it and the beam is reflected. | 2010-05-22 23:13:00 Author: KablooieKablam Posts: 364 |
Yes please!! I've always wanted this in LBP1 and never managed to create it with all the glass/water combinations I tried. A mirror in LBP2 would be amazing, if only there were some way you could place it in the back layer and reflect the image of the player sitting on their couch! PSEye compatibility maybe? | 2010-05-23 01:57:00 Author: CheesyMcFly Posts: 211 |
Both eye and gameplay-candy! Me wants. | 2010-05-23 20:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
What if it were a tool from the tools bag (like spikes) and it didn't reflect Sackboy, but light. Like, you shine a laser/spotlight on it and the beam is reflected. That would require huge realtime processor overhead, unfortunately. It's why reflections tend to suck in video games. | 2010-05-25 09:47:00 Author: roux- Posts: 379 |
it could be done but it would have to be the layer behind you , because if it was in front you wouldn't be able to see the refection .BOUNTY. Ooh, he's good. What about being able to choose if Sackboy gets reflected or not? Gameplay candy! | 2010-05-25 14:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm not sure how MM would implement this, sure they could add a 'mirror material' which you plonk down like any other material, but I don't think the reflection would be as deep as people want. | 2010-05-25 17:17:00 Author: Curtis Posts: 21 |
