How to make a sack scanner

Archive: 10 posts

well many people who have played my level- space station asked me how did i do the "identity scanner" in the beginning of the level...to do it you need some basic logic skills and possibly the mgs kit(if you don't have it substitute the searchlight with the proximity switch (the one with the eyes XD)
i made a simple picture of how to make it...(mspaint FTW)
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17210&d=1274362252
so anyways the seablue colour is dark matter...brown is...the material you wan't the progress bar to be on...and the magnetic key(the one connected to the piston) is on a block of disolve...
1. set the headlight to directional...
2.the last magnetic reader has to be connected to the disolve material...
if you think i forgot to point sumthing out tell me...
i will post a ingame picture of it soon...
if it works out right you should have a cool effect...
also if you wan't even more awesome add some sounds to the contraption too...

Nice, and you can probably format it so you can do stuff like... To get into a building, you go through one door, and enter this little space, and then a hoover comes on and sucks all the dirt off you, then the other door opens, and then you enter a weird germ free environment..... Or something....

Rambling!

Nice idea!
I assume you have made the spotlight directional. It will be better if you link it to a permanent switch so that it doesn't return to the starting position. This way the lights won't go backwards.

Also you might need to make the mgs spotlight require all so that no-one is left outside unscanned

you might also want to make the room have lights that indicate red for scanning and green for scanned.

Oh! And you could also use the laser sight from mgs too! And have it move back and forwards like it is scanning you!

And yeah! where would we be without paint

I did one for the beginning of Logic Labs 4. Used a series of timers and flip flops to maintain the event, and then attached one of the MGS lasers to a piston. Check it out.2010-10-24 00:51:00

I made one with ALOT less logic (none) what i did was i took a smal rectangle and gave it thin layer fronts and backs, then i took a dissolve circle and attached a motor to it (int this box like thing) and on equal intervals, i would have key switches, each attached to a light, the last key switch would dissolve the block, triggering an inverted key switch and opened/ activated whatever you want. I have one in my lvl called "sack scanner", it also has the rain logic (lol)2010-10-24 01:49:00

Love your rain. You should see how I did my lightning though. As for your scanner, I think I have to fall back and say I like mine better. While is may be less logic, its also missing the feeling of how a scanner should act. The way yours is, could be reproduced by just making a magnetic key on a piston move down a line and activate magnetic switches, which turn on the lights.2010-10-24 02:02:00

what part is different? Though i think i failed with the lights cause u cant really see them when your in the compartment. I didnt add music cause at that point i really didnt know if i was going to use it in a lvl, so i didnt bother with it.2010-10-24 17:15:00

You talking about what part is different about the scanner? Mine uses a flip flop to hold the status that the scanner was activated, then uses a timer which activates a MGS Laser attached to a piston which "scans you". Check it out, I have it at the start of my Level, Logic Labs 4.2010-10-24 19:54:00
