New Sig

Archive: 6 posts

Before I show my sig, I'd like to mention that I am semi-returning, Most of you won't remember me, I was only here for 1 or 2 months in 2009, then I got bored with Lbp and went inactive... But enough reminiscence, here be the sig:

I haven't been sig making for long, I started on Corel PSP a couple of months ago, but 'acquired' Photoshop a few weeks before now and have been improving steadily, though the talents of Yarbone and Rhyfelwyr (Sorry for spelling your name wrong Btw) still elude me. CnC would be much appreciated, thanks. I'm still not very good though, so be lenient!

@ Wofl, thanks, the compliment is much appreciated, it makes the many wasted hours on Photoshop almost worth it.

@ Inanimacy so do I, this is the first sig I've made using them, and I'm surprised by how well it turned out, this is probably one of my favourite sigs that I've ever done.

Would anyone want to see other sigs, I could make a showcase if you all want me to.

Hey, I remember you! And wow you've improved of late!

I'm going to have to be really picky with this one to find any fault...

1) Tone is great - I love muted sig colours and this sepia job is no exception. My only comment here would be that there are 2 focal points... the arrows and the sackboy. Both have strong contrast and I find my eyes flipping from one to the other. To make your sackboy number 1 focal point, reduce either brightness or contrast on the arrows. They won't lose any of their style but it will give the sig more depth.

2) to complement number 1, try darkening the background a bit.

3) The positioning of the signature text is good. I like the way it nestles into the arrow BUT... the text quality itself is ... erm.... poor.. Not sure how it got to be aliased. It might be font choice or rasterising it and then playing with the size.

4) Just to give it an "edge", I would have taken one of the arrow heads and extended it outside your border, but thats personal choice.

Other than that, it's better than my next entry for the sig contest is going to be!!

Oh - and thanks for the compliment, but I don't really deserve it. I have years of experience, but not as much creativity as the majority of forumites here.

Showcase would be great!

BTW - please ignore my current sig - its a bit of fun!

I lowered the contrast of the arrows quite a bit, and it really helped. Usually with my sigs I'm really fussy about focal points but for some reason on this one all thoughts about them flew out of my head.

Done, and it looks better.

I changed the text to 'sharp and it looks more... Well, sharp.

4) Just to give it an "edge", I would have taken one of the arrow heads and extended it outside your border, but thats personal choice.

It hasn't really worked, because the colour of the arrows was too similar to the colour of the border, and I didn't want to make the arrows too bright, so I left them as they were.

Don't try to be pretend you're not good at this - your sig alone proves that you are more creative than many people in the Artwork & Creativity section. (I've just realised that there is no wink smiley anymore... Give me a wink smiley nao!)

Showcase would be great!

Will do.

Thanks for the feedback btw, and here's it after minor tweaks:
