Magical Forest(Survival Challenge)

Archive: 25 posts

My first ever survival level!
It seems that oh so generous wizard has given all his bubbles away and he needs them for a magical spell. Now he could get the fairies to help, but they're just trouble makers. So he's called upon all sackfolk to venture through the forest in search of bubbles. How much can you gather?

By Golly This level is sweet. Though it is a bit difficult because the ground moves so fast... hesitate and you are dead... And the plane changing makes you slow down a bit too...

Though I had fun and now my girlfriend refuses to put it down (excuse my terrible grammar, I don't have an excuse myself.)

I've just re-published Captain-Rule, and I hope my changes will please both you and your girlfriend.

Changes
-Acceleration: You now start off slow and get faster and faster
-Camera Zone: No more looking at the nasty purple gas
-Microbombs: After a while bombs will fall. You do get a sound warning though!

Hi, ali985!

I tried your level but could not start it. I read speech bubble and then grasped log on chain. It moved me upward but I could not reach upper platform, I always fell down to level with start point. I tried to swing log and jump right after wizard, but fell down near him and there was tree on the right side and I can't go to the right, only to the left to start point. So to my shame I couldn't find right way to start your level. Please help me - what I need to do?

I just played your level, the surroundings are beautiful and I never thought that it is possibile to make such a beautiful figure as your magician on the PSP.
The gameplay is funny.

Somehow I managed it in to fall down without landing on your rotating construction and landed on the floor.

Here is a little evidence: http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/66/img2423c.jpg

Unfortunately, I coulden't repeat my adversity yet, so I can't tell you if there is anything you could do
But maybe I`m just very lucky in my clumsiness and no one else falls down there

By the way 5 stars and a Heart

I will start my feedback by saying, I don not like survival levels much.
Although, your level seemed to be better than any survival challenge I've seen.
I don't play a survival level twice much, but your level was intense enough to do that.
The level rotated faster as you continued to last longer.
Bombs star to drop farther in the run.

This survival challenge was spot on and sharp.
I enjoyed your level "Magical Forest" and seeing this also as a survival was quite fun.
The drawings were not bad and the theme was still well put.
I have had no problem during the process of playing.
The only problem I had was surviving

Anyways, here's how I will rate you.

Length: N/A
Creativity: 5/5
Corner Editing: 5/5
Theme: 5/5
Story: N/A

Total: 15/15
:star::star::star::star::star: that's 15/15 which means you've earned your heart for this level. <3

Hidy Ho ali! Sorry that it has taken me so long to get to this amazing level. I've been a bit addicted to Create Mode lately, but I've ripped myself away from it for today so that I could check out you level and do some other things.

So, let's talk about this level...

I actually really enjoy survival challenges, though I don't usually go looking for them since 90% of them seem to disappoint. When I saw that you made one based off of your incredible Magical Forest level, I was certainly intrigued! And this did not disappoint!

The concept of a level that rotates like this one is nothing new, but I have never played one in Survival Challenge form, so this felt very fresh. The challenge of switching planes came across as irritating at first, but after playing a few times, I really got used to it. I figured out that it requires a bit of memorization of the level so that you can get ready to switch, because if you aren't ready then you will most likely die by the time that you realize that you just ran into a tree.

I just loved the level as a whole. It is one of the best looking Survival Challenges I have seen... Actually, I think that it is by far the best looking one. And the level design is top notch.

I really can't think of much to complain about. The bombs irritated me at first, but they are a necessary evil in order to add extra challenge. Otherwise, the player could easily just go on forever.

I managed to grab the high score after maybe 12 or 15 plays, but I'm sure that that won't last long.

Keep up the awesome work ali!

Hey Ali, you have became one of the best, my friend.

This is another beautiful level that you created here. Your mechanics are as tight as always and your corner editing is becoming legendary.

You should have another sticker to add to your collection after the contest is judged.

Five stars another heart for the level, I hearted you as creator months ago, I think with your swamp level.

Keep up the great work!!

Just had a play on this, at last... I like how you've put a different spin (no pun intended!) on the 'revolving world' idea I too had a bit of trouble with that log at the start, but once I got going it was great fun (although I sucked at it terribly, will have to put some practice in!). I've yet to get far enough to see the bombs, so I shall pospone judgement until I get that far.

Great work as always mate.

Hey ali,

Thanks for leaving feedback on my new level, so here's your feedback as promised.

First of all, I love that you made this survival challenge as an adjunct to your main level LBUP Magical Forest, so in a way it has substance behind it rather than a mere survival challenge, and it should've been the approach I had taken with my survival level had I had the time to make a full level. Anyways, I fell in love with the whimsical theme all over again, and as always, I'm in awe of your splendiferous use layers. While I was running, I had to count all of them just to make sure you weren't using a glitch! I loved the illusion of a never ending forest, and although you kept a fairly neutral color scheme, the visuals seemed to really pop out from the wonderfully chosen materials and superb corner-editing.

I know some have expressed frustration with layer-changing and the inclusion of bombs, but I actually really enjoyed them, and I think it's what sets your survival challenge apart from others with similar gameplay. I don't think there's a learning curve or memorization needed at all, but a keen sight on the upcoming obstacles and dexterity to change layers. To me, this is what made the level thrilling, something to keep you on your toes rather than just running to avoid obstacles on one layer, but now you have the added challenge of switching from one layer to another.

That said, I think you could've used the layers better. For instance, you only have point bubbles emitting on the front layer, and I would've liked it if somehow you had some bubbles in the back layer at a different location, perhaps not even emitting continuously but dangling on tree limbs or something like that...

I also wished you would've contextualized the bombs more. You added a story behind the point bubbles, and it would've been awesome if you also put a reason behind the bombs rather than just upping the challenge. For instance, you could've brought back those cheeky fairies to drop them!

I also felt the level increased speed a little too quickly. I was able to stay on the top for a little bit before I started falling behind, and I wished the increase in speed was a tad bit more gradual. The emission of point bubbles could also be slowed down at first and then gradually increases as the difficulty increases...

Regardless, these aren't problems at all, but rather suggestions. Great job on another fantastic level--even if it is just a survival challenge--and I look forward to your next masterpiece. This is an obvious 5:star:s and a <3.

Well this truely was a magical experience! I loved the visuals the most I think because they all felt smooth and sleek. The character design was outstanding (albeit there was only one there!). And the whole forest really came to life.
The gameplay was excellent, left no room for mistake and meant that more people will replay to get the high scores

Five stars and a <3
