Im going to have quite a time getting friends on this since im new and all. How about we have the ability to link up our Playstation Network accounts so we can find people on LBPC right from our psn list!![]() | 2010-05-19 05:29:00 Author: Xayias ![]() Posts: 13 |
Don't think that's possible. | 2010-05-19 07:37:00 Author: Stephanie_Ravens ![]() Posts: 188 |
Or why not just make new friends in here? ![]() A lot easier and less effort needed. ![]() Besides, whe you know them you'll know them, don't worry m8, if you're active you'll get to know everyone in no time! ![]() | 2010-05-19 08:07:00 Author: Silverleon ![]() Posts: 6707 |
This won't ever happen. ConfusedCartman would have to get in touch with Sony to be able to do this. And somehow, I doubt Sony would listen... ![]() Like Sliverleon said, you'll really get to know everyone in no time, and once you do, this site only gets better. ![]() | 2010-05-19 19:12:00 Author: Doopz ![]() Posts: 5592 |

A lot of LBPC members visit the Find Other Happy Gadders (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?43-Find-Other-Happy-Gadders) forum, where people who want more friends can add each other. | 2010-05-20 03:12:00 Author: Incinerator22 ![]() Posts: 3251 |
To be honest, if there was a way to do so, I wouldn't object to it. It would definitely streamline a good chunk of what we already do, and it would allow you guys to do that much more without leaving LBPCentral directly. However, as far as I'm aware, the only way to log in to PSN is through official Sony-developed-and-owned websites - meaning, they don't offer an API for logging in to PSN from any site. Basically: even if we wanted to, we couldn't. | 2010-05-20 03:59:00 Author: ConfusedCartman ![]() Posts: 3729 |
Sackbook tried something like this with linking to PSN, but that was pretty much shut down | 2010-05-20 05:51:00 Author: JKthree ![]() Posts: 1125 |
However, as far as I'm aware, the only way to log in to PSN is through official Sony-developed-and-owned websites - meaning, they don't offer an API for logging in to PSN from any site. Basically: even if we wanted to, we couldn't. Actually, there is a way, but it's kinda hairy, and I don't think most people would trust it. Even though your login info is only sent to Sony, and in an encrypted form, the resulting authentication token which is returned to the site operator could potentially be used to masquerade as that user on any other site which uses the PSN sign-in form. However, assuming the site operator is trusted by the user signing in, then the site operator can use that token to get additional information about the user signing in, including a list of their PSN friends. The 'hairyness' is due to there seemingly being no obvious public API for acquiring such information, so the only workaround I've seen so far is to use the token to masquerade as the user on the official PlayStation site, and scrape the pages for the information. Edit: Actually, it seems there is a URL (https://secure.eu.playstation.com/ajax/mypsn/friend/presence/) which returns an XML-encoded document with your friends list, so this isn't actually as hard as I originally thought. The only issue is one of trust, but it seems as if ps3trophies.com does exactly the same thing, so maybe it's not an issue for most? | 2010-05-20 14:18:00 Author: Aya042 ![]() Posts: 2870 |
