I need someone's help.
I know this is asking a lot, but I need someone to download 2 things to their computer.
Please follow the links below. Then, afterwards, open Wombat and extract the images of the boss as .png files, and send them to me by my email address. (dana.laberge@gmail.com)
I would do it myself, but my computer is being a little jerk right now and the game stopped working.

Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure v1.2: http://www.3drealms.com/cosmo/index.html and click on the .zip link to get it for free.

Wombat Game Tools: http://www.szevvy.com/downloads also, to get it for free.

EXTREME THANKS go to whoever helps me on this.
(The LBP connection that lets me post this is that I'm designing a level series that utilizes game graphics from this game.)

Hmm... sorry but this sounds a little suspicious...

I don't expect others will do this either. They might, it's just downloading some random thing, (Which by the way, you never told us what it is) to our computer which a stranger told us to...

I might just be being over cautious though...

lol what i was about to say.
Agreed.

And remember kids!
Never open a strange link given by a random stranger on the internet, it could be a virus or steal your personal data!

You gotta think!
Don't click the link!

(wth now i'm making my own commercials, with cheesy rhyming motto and all XD
I think i should go to sleep now...)

So sorry guys. I totally forgot this was a new thread.
(I had explained it all before you see)
The first is a game by Apogee Games called "Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure"
The second thing is Wombat Game Tools, a program that, among other things, can let you rip sprites from Apogee games as .png files.(editable in paint)
So, what I need someone to do is download the game, (if you want to play the online version, click the link at the end) download Wombat, and e-mail me some certain pictures.
Man, I can't believe that stuff slipped my mind.

No one is going to do this because even if they're nieve enough to download something from a stranger, they'll be too lazy 2010-05-20 06:25:00

Um...nope!
Not gonna happen.

What guarantee is there is that you're not lying/ making things up?

Sorry, but i doubt and hope people aren't naive/ dumb enough to click on random suspicious links, specially those handed out, those are even more prone to be a trap.

(Actually, anoyne cares to add the "Its a trap" pic? )

Look, I had a thread about this level series-in-the-works and that's where I got the links. OTHER PEOPLE SENT THEM TO ME! I TRIED THEM OUT MYSELF! How else can I prove it to you that this is not a trap?
Want the link to the other thread? Fine. Here it is.
https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25663-Linked-Levels-Logic-Lend-A-Hand
That will prove I'm telling the truth.
Also, the online version is in-browser Java-based, so there isn't anything to download if your up-to-date on Java.

Don't click the link, its a trap too!
(jk)
Well if they gave you the links tho, why don't you ask them to help ya then?

I mean you have to understand there are too many people making tricks like that, and would obviously lie and say its not a trap as well m8.

(Oh yeah, also you'd already asked about this in that post, so why make a new thread for it?)

umm... did you see when i asked that? 5 days ago. Any responses? No.
That's why I had to start a new thread (also, it was recommended by aya042, a moderator)

To be fair, I wasn't sure which of the many things from your original thread you were planning to ask, e.g.

"I need some help making some logic for a boss"
"Now that LBP2 has been announced, I wonder if I should just wait till it drops to make this level series. [...] What do you guys think?"
"OK, so I need someone to download 2 things to their computer"

My point was more that asking one question per thread, each in the most appropriate forum, would get you more replies... and I was right.

I would've figured that based on the sorts of responses you got from people who were too paranoid to even install the JRE, you might've figured that asking someone to download and execute an arbitrary binary from a somewhat questionable source, was pretty unlikely to work either.

If you're having trouble doing it yourself due to OS incompatibilites, I'd recommend taking a look at VMware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware), which will allow you to run an older operating system on your PC without removing the existing one.

Alternatively, it might be a simple as running the application in "compatibility mode" on Windows 7, but I can't be certain as I've never used Windows 7, and I'm more than a little hesitant to 'upgrade', as Microsoft previously proved with Vista that sometimes an 'upgrade' can be a downgrade.

The thing is that I had it running before, but when I installed a new graphics card and sound card, it stopped working.
Also, stop worrying about Windows 7. I run it and it is really good, for windows. Previously I ran XP so I know what you mean by a downgrade. However, it works great on everything else but this 1 game.
Which stinks because it is the one game I need to work to make the pixelmapping of the boss complete.
Also, I already got help from chamionb on the boss movement logic, and I've decided to give up on the second question.

You know, I thought that this forum was about people helping other people with LittleBigPlanet, but I guess not. Like I said it is asking a lot, and for a lot of trust, but without someone's help, I wont be able to finish my boss battle level.2010-05-25 16:07:00

Well, hopefully the sig exchange will download these tools to make me a sig, (already sent a request) so maybe I won't have to ask the unhelpful people who seem to frequent this so-called "help" forum for anything anymore.
And all I wanted was for someone to show a little trust and helpfulness.
I guess I won't find it here.

That's a bit mean calling someone a dork, especially seeing as you made the Rudeness to Others (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=27320-Rudeness-to-others) thread.

EDIT: Oh, his name is Dork!

Lol, I thought you were just calling him a dork for no reason! Sorry, Fender!

And yeah, it's not that we're unhelpful, you just really have to be careful on the internet, and if it was a virus, chances are a really little kid would get in a load of trouble from their parents because they broke they're computer or something...

Norton SafeWeb reports that the first link is safe:

http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.3drealms.com%2Fcosmo%2Fi ndex.html&x=0&y=0

Norton SafeWeb reports that the second link is untested:

http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.szevvy.com%2Fdownloads&x=0&y=0

Since the first was safe, the second is probably A-OK

Okay. I had a go at this (on Vista).

Initially, I got an error "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

I then did a quick google for "Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure" vista and was directed to a program called DOSBox (http://dosbox.com/).

Downloaded and installed that, mounted the directory containing the installer, and managed to install.

Then I managed to open up the install directory with the Wombat utility, and all the graphics are there. Problem is, there's thousands of graphics, but I don't know which ones are the boss.

Anyways - if you try out that DOSBox program, you ought to be able to do this yourself. Download here (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/dosbox/dosbox/0.74/DOSBox0.74-win32-installer.exe), and instructions here (http://dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_and_Installation_of_DosBox).

Also, have you tried doing a google search for Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure and the bosses name? Might be some images online. If you haven't got it this weekend, I have a PC that I can use to try and get these for you. I'm a programmer, so I'll be able to watch for any TRAPS!!!! LOL And if I miss one, that PC is off the grid and junk... :oP2010-05-28 16:15:00

Hey, aya, I would also like the level map for the first level of the game if you could.

It's gonna be easier if you do this yourself. I've put the installed files in a ZIP which you can get here (http://ayanet.org.uk/cosmo.zip), then just extact that somewhere, install the Wombat tools, and use it to open up the extracted files.
