There's no sane description for this level...

First off let me explain my reasons behind this level. I've been working on a level series for some time the last few months, but due to lack of interest / plays I wasn't sure if I should continue it.
Instead I thought I should do something completely different for a change.
So no forests, no castles, no story, no 3d layer glitch, just some crazy level I hope people enjoy playing.
So far it hasn't got that many plays as I had hoped it would get, so I'm hoping I can get some decent feedback here to see what I can improve on or what should be done different perhaps

All in all I think the level turned out nicely for what I wanted it to be.

So here's some screenshots:

All aboard!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to playing my level.
Any feedback / comment much apreciated.

I played your level and and at first i checked because the name attracted me because it is a series about animals and i thought that this level was about it.
I felt quite complicated, there are areas that seem never going to finish as you try but that's ok, who likes challenges is excellent, though reaching a bit frustrating especially in the radiation zone, is generally a good level, good management tiens puzzles and unexpected things you can not predict and that makes it interesting, the ending seemed like a good joke after seeing two doors that were not already the third to finish me amused.

I have given :star::star::star::star:

Okay, First off, I liked it a lot, but there were some problems:
1) The giant button shoots plasma balls directly at the portal you spawn at if it kills you, I got into a cycle of spawning and dying by plasma ball because of this
2) In my opinion the giant buttons plasma balls move to fast, so you end up with no time to dodge them, which makes that boss battle just about luck, which isn't fun. If they moved slower the player could navigate through them and dodge them more easily.
3) For the part where you grab onto the hanging sponge that rolls on the above rail (right after the rocker portal) I would take the piston off that and make some challenge to it, since people seem to think those kinds of challenges are really fun... (just a suggestion)
4) You may want to reconsider the difficulty of this... 1/6 completion rate?

Lastly, If you want your levels to get more plays, go play the level "Republishing 101" It will explain how to get your levels more plays

EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION F4F: Please leave some feedback on my level "StormWaves: Turret Defence" Thank You (I guess you might not see this.... so I'll be forgiving if you don't and PM you at some point)

Hey ok I'm playing as I type and I have to say A) I love the style and characters, fun! B) OMG BRAIN ROCKET COTTON SWABS OF DEATH GAS AGH! Why are you laughing at me?! I think that radiation section is really unforgiving. Death meaning you have to restart every time and I think it is quite demoralizing. I am determined to finish though. I'll report back as soon as I get by it..

Ok.. I got by it right after typing that! I don't mind it but it could put some people off. The ending was pretty fun too, I really enjoyed it. There was just the right amount of bubbles for chaining and whatnot which made it satisfying.

:star::star::star::star::star: + <3

Oh wait suggestion, I thought the boss, it would be fun if the weight kept getting bigger each time you hit it, by the end dragging a huge thing to kill it lol.

Hello Serph-

I'm reviewing this level as I play, just to make things easier. First off, I like the level badge, it's very colorful and unique. Intro was cool, and you should make the player entrance(the first checkpoint) more colorful like all of your other checkpoints in the level. I think the boss in the red area is a little bit to hard, maybe make the plasma balls go a little slower so the player can quickly dodge. The green radiation area was ingenious, it had a Mario bros feel to it. I like the part where you are tricked by the end score-boards. Overall, this was a nice platforming level with a lot of fun, yet innovative gameplay. Keep up the amazing work serph, I would gladly play another level similar to this.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed it.

First off, thanks for all the feedback folks! Much apreciated

psyntens: I played your level and and at first i checked because the name attracted me because it is a series about animals and i thought that this level was about it.
I only found out after I finished the level there's some show with the same name, sorry if I misled you there
I also discovered it means some sexual act involving a banana, but trust me, that's not what I had in mind when naming my level!
Thanks for the feedback!

1) I never experienced this happening, but seeing as the plasma balls are a on a small wheel going 45 degrees, I can imagine this happening, will see if I can place some barrier in between there.
2) I think you got a good point, I'll slow them down by a fair amount.
3) I allready fiddled with an idea like that in my head, just ran out of inspiration on that point, and kinda forgot about it afterwards. I'll see what I can do.
4) I didn't think the difficulty was that hard, but like you say, I did notice I had a pretty low completion rate. I hope if I make the boss easier people will stay motivated more, because I think this is the point where most people will give up.

Glad you liked them, really had fun comming up with those spawn points, one of the thing sI liked most doing in this level

Lol, sorry, trying not to laugh here

Yeah, I'm aware this might be demoralizing a bit. This section started out as an experiment to see if I could build a ride which would respawn (the ride and the elevator sections in this case) upon death. I see so many chases / rides where the spawn point just follows you to the end I figured I would do it a bit more challenging.
I need to think if I'm gonna change this or not.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the kind words!
As for the badge, I just put some stickers together and made a screenshot, was planning to use it as a sticker in the level itself, but for fun tried to use it as a badge, and liked the happy colorfull effect it gave it.
Did you know I completely forgot about the entrance checkpoint? Thanks for reminding me, will spice the poor guy up!
Like mentioned before, you're right on the boss, gonna slow him down a bit

I hope I can alter enough in my level, it's seriously on the brink of overheating, a single swith or decoration makes it go boom at the moment, so need to be carefull when editing.

Once again, thanks for all the feedback you guys gave me. It was just the motivation I needed
I decided to make more levels in this style, since I had 10x more fun making this then my other more "serious" levels.
Who knows, I might make it my creation style from now on

Well, just finished updating my level with the feedback I got here.

- Changed the entrance checkpoint into something more colorfull. Nothing fancy as I can't add any new decorations I haven't allready used in the level But it fits the intro I think.

- Tuned the boss down a lot:
1) changed plasma ball velocity from 7.5 secs. to 2 secs.
2) Lowered the lifetime of the plasma balls significantly so they won't be able to get outside of the room, resulting in cheap deaths.
3) Changed emitted time from 0.5 to 1 secs. so there's a few less plasma balls to worry about.

- Added a little challenge to the part after the rocker portal (like the sound of that ). Basically took the piston off like suggested and added a small challenge there.

- Added an easy mode to the radiation zone. I suggest not to use it, but if it's to hard just press a button and you'll have a checkpoint following you around (had to change quite a few parts to the ride due to this, since the checkpoint would bump into many obstacles along the way).
There's no negative effects to using this though, except getting booed at

Let me know what you guys think! Thanks in advance

Oh, and special thanks to Devonushka for pointing out the level republishing 101 to me. I knew about republishing, but had no idea I actually had to "edit" the level before this to make it show
I feel so stupid now...

Nice level! I hated the visuals though. DX I can't stand silly-gross visuals, it bugs me. Anywho, the boss battle (the large button guy) was really cool, I liked that. Nice job. I got scared about having to backtrack a huge distance, but I liked how you changed things up with hazards and obstacles. I hated the deadly gas part the most. It was really annoying and unforgiving..

Overall, better then I expected. I gave it :star::star::star::star:

Can you leave feedback on Farewell Ruins of the Moon: Chapter One (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26787-Farewell-Ruins-of-the-Moon-Chapter-One) by AbstractSam? Thanks.

Great level detail! lots of platforms and a race that kept me happy! I was laughing when I kept losing all the scoreboards.

overall :star::star::star::star:

I think it might be better if it had a bit more challenge to it.

If you don't want to play through my level its okay, but if you don't please at least comment on my LBP 2 project.

Well, to each his opinion, and if you don't like my visuals that's ok
Glad you liked the boss battle and the extra obstacles after him.
As for the deadly gas / radiation area, did you play this level before or after my update? I actually made an easy mode for this part now to not disencourage people after a few deaths.
Thanks for the feedback!

Ummm, you want me to add more challenge? So far most people thought it was to much of a challenge, so I spend quite some time to make it easier lol
I'll play your level and LBP2 project tomorrow, right now I'm off to bed.
Thanks for the feedback!

No problem, I like pointing that level out to people because a lot of people make the same mistake you do, (I did in fact until I played that level, which was on cool levels page 1 back in the good old days), and I feel that it can help people whose levels deserve to be on the cool levels pages (unlike Kaskaroto) get to the cool levels pages.
Also Make sure you F4F my level StomWaves (not to pester you too much):

I played this level after you sent a nice feedback to "The Hero Chronicles LV1: Magical Forest" and it is funky! Loved the usage of Jon Burgerman stickers and I really enjoy the mirror platform in the level's first half. I also liked the idea of the boss battle when you drop an anvil against the boss. The platforming is awesome the way you use the paintinator to hit the switch to move the platforms and the moving platform with a brain is a blast. I also liked the idea of the scoreboard trick. Really cool level dude! Really cool.2010-05-19 00:36:00

Awesome! I loved chasing the little button man! I kicked his and his dad's butt! Going back and forth through the same level was not a drag at all because the puzzles kept changing! Good job on that! I especially like the spinning stairs puzzle. And the funny characters. Good job, homie!2010-05-19 18:34:00

Cool level! Don't change the name, it's what drew me in.

Pros
-I liked the style of the level, which was shown in all the little monster characters.
-The guy hammering the checkpoint at the end was a really cool touch
-I loved the big section with the tap R1 thing on the guy's brain. I only wish it could have gone a little faster, it seemed like I was waiting the whole time.

Cons
-The boss fight alternated between too easy when the guy hadn't just been hit, to too hard when he had. When he shoots the plasma right after he got hit, it's almost impossible to dodge.
-That's my only major con, but I feel like you relied to much on basic platforming. I like to see people mix it up some more.

I gave four stars. Could you F4F the top one in my sig?

Thanks for the feedback on my level

Your level is very funky, and I mean that in a good way! While it uses pretty basic platform elements they are presented in a colorful and amusing way. I thought it seemed well thought out and your interesting environment very fun to play through. Your Check point characters made me smile all the way through. While most of the level 'has been done before' in terms of the platform elements I still liked your layout and enjoyed the challenges. I know you have tweaked the Boss and I have no complaints about him even though he isn't that hard to kill, yes you can die many times trying to kill him but with an unlimited cp it was of no concern to me. I found it fun and whimsical! Not every level in LBP needs to be 'Hard Core or Serious' but it has to provide an experience that is fun or challenging at the very least, and this level did that for me.

I gave it 5 stars and Hearted it.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.
I know the boss still has a few flaws, but I can't possibly change anything anymore, even changing plasma balls duration by 0.1 second makes the level blow up at the moment
I'll check out your level tonight.

On a small side note, level currently has 735 plays and 91 hearts. I'm pretty content with this seeing as I usually never got more then 30 plays on my levels
Oh, and people actually are completing my level now, the feedback I got here has been a big help on that part.

I forgot to mention before that the long section where you tap R1 on the guys head kind of blew up on me. I had to pop, but it worked the next time so it wasn't a problem. I uploaded a picture if you don't know what I mean. Not a big deal, but might be worth looking at.2010-05-21 23:25:00

Saw the picture indeed, didn't understand why he was hanging sideways
Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into it, think the elevator thing didn't respawn fast enough.

*updated last night* It was an easy fix. Just had to make the elevator respawn a fraction slower than the ride, so it wouldn't block it emitting upon death. That was causing the problem when you died on the first part going down.

This was literally THE most amazing level I have ever played.
The lights! The sounds! The action!!
The randomness!!
The list goes on ;D
I loved the use of coloring and blends of light.

The end when you kept stealing the scoreboard was genius.
I also liked the spawnpoints and how you personified them.
It was very very fun to play and it made me smile very much.
Hearted and 5 stars

Although, there was one problem. At the stairs that drop down at the beginning if you accidentally jump right in front of them, the electricity will kill you.

Overall, Best level I have ever played!

Hey there!
I really enjoyed playing this, it's quite random.

PROS
I love the intro. I do notice however that you've got a rusty LBPC sticker - do you want the logo I've got at the end of my level instead? If you do, give me a shout and it's yours = )
I liked the stairs bit, as well as the button boss
The radiation area is pretty cool
It was all fun to play - sometimes frustrating but fun, and there were a lot of original ideas in there

CONS
I'm not really too keen on the stickering - I think it could be improved by making most of them more like cutouts in order to make them feel more solid
The radiation area is also slightly unforgiving - but then again, I didn't choose easy mode so... my own fault I guess!

Overall, I enjoyed myself thoroughly - my only complaint really being the stickering - but even that wasn't too bad.
4 stars and hearted - Good job!

PS - Sorry if my feedback sucks!

Serph, what a fantastic level design. Probably the most original I've seen in a long time. I love the quirky Adams-family-type sense of humor it has. It's got fantastic charm and your characters kick booty. My only real complaint was that the gas section was long and had no checkpoints. I did get a little annoyed at all the fake ending scoreboards but it was ok. One time would've been sufficient.

That said I think this is really your strength. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 for you.

Thanks for the feedback on my level, too.

Again, very nice design!

Oh, and I added a tiny bit of floor in front of the stairs, so that little cheap death isn't possible anymore, thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for the feedback, much apreciated.

I do notice however that you've got a rusty LBPC sticker - do you want the logo I've got at the end of my level instead? If you do, give me a shout and it's yours = )
I didn't know about the LBPC sticker, actually I don't even remember where I got this one from. So um, shout?
Oh, and your feedback doesn't suck at all, don't worry

@ DainBramage:
Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked my "style".

I did get a little annoyed at all the fake ending scoreboards but it was ok.
Finally! My sole purpose was to annoy people here, was disapointed everyone thought it was funny.
Glad I succeeded at last!
But seriously, thanks for the positive feedback, It's good to hear/read.

I'll continue to make levels in this style. Really enjoyed making it, and the feedback and comments here have been great.
Thanks.

There's no sane review for this level...

Just that I don't usually like strange levels like this but I really liked this one. Only thing I could find wrong is that at the end there's a scoreboard that it's supposed to go up and say denied but I activated it somehow and won lol. I guess the radius of the switch that makes it go up isn't large enough.

Anyways, got a <3 from me .

I played this....a while ago, actually, just never got around to posting this. I'm a fan of those whacky, insane levels, so this was a lot of fun. The platforming was solid, the visuals were decent, and it was an all around decent level.

Maybe this is just personal preference, but I'm not a big fan of stickers on background materials, especially when the stickers then inherit the texture of the material it's on. I think it'd be more appropriate if some of the background things were maybe put on cardboard and made to stick out of the background, but this is just a huge nitpick.

Anyway, as far as weird levels go, this was pretty fun. I gave it 4 stars.
