First i can not claim to have come up with this idea... that honor resides with the writers of The Official Playstation Magazine. In one of their issues, they talked about the possibilites of LBP. And they suggested someone recreating the iliad... I think that is a fantastic idea. Maybe not the iliad, maybe the odyssey or recreating the battle of thermopayle. Anyway, i think it is a fantastic idea. Is anyone with me??? If so. i think that with the combine power and ingenuity of people, we could recreate some pretty epic stories and make history...FUN!! | 2008-10-06 02:56:00 Author: chiropractor345 Posts: 161 |

I think I'm severely uneducated because I have no idea what you're talking about. | 2008-10-06 04:09:00 Author: UmJammerSully Posts: 1097 |

They are two very famous and good Epic's written by Homer. | 2008-10-06 04:45:00 Author: Simplton Posts: 63 |
indeed they are and i think that they have the possibility of making perfect LBP maps. | 2008-10-06 12:00:00 Author: chiropractor345 Posts: 161 |
I've not read these (my friend has, though) but perhaps you could sum it up? What would you do to put it into LBP? Would it be a story driven level perhaps? Or many levels (sort of like chapters in a book)? | 2008-10-06 13:54:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
For the Odyssey, it would be rather simple. You hop in a boat, the boat sails and stops at an island. You get off, do whatever on the island, and head to the other end, where you hop on another boat (which is just the same model) which then sails and stops at another island. Rinse and repeat until you've finished all the Odyssey's parts. | 2008-10-06 16:27:00 Author: Mark D. Stroyer Posts: 632 |
Right, but since I've never read the book what would you actually do at the islands or whatever? | 2008-10-06 16:32:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
I am not going to take the time to actually write it out but you have internet look it up, not trying to be mean, just lazy. | 2008-10-06 16:44:00 Author: Simplton Posts: 63 |
you have internet look it up That's true. I'm just wondering what sort of puzzles or challenges you'd have to complete. I'm not sure, but I think I remember seeing a movie about one of these stories... I think one part involved killing a cyclops or something, and another he was sailing a boat in a cave with fire and stuff... I don't really remember. | 2008-10-06 21:10:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
yea that is the odyssey. Basically, odysseus (the main character) leaves ithica (home island in greece) to fight in the trojan war. While he is gone, many men on ithica try to impress his wife and get her to marry them. (she is very beautiful) odysseus goes through many many troubles before he finally makes it home. when he does, he sees his house in ruins because of the suitors. And with an elaborate display, reveals himself to the crowd and pwns all of them. it really is a fantastic story. And it all depends on how much detail is put into each level. Probably do each chapter has a different level. Of course this is a big project and i would need to plan a little more. Is anyone interested in this idea? Or do people have some other good ideas for LBP levels? Im still planning, not in the "creating" stage yet. | 2008-10-06 22:10:00 Author: chiropractor345 Posts: 161 |
I'm very interested in the idea from a playing/playtest perspective. Sadly though, my school thought the entire of the greek myths weren't worth their time and I've only recently started filling in the gaps, so I wouldn't make a good maker! Loooking forward to seeing it though. | 2008-10-07 08:48:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
well at least there is some interest. And im sure that if you really wanted to help we could find a way to make it work but whatever. | 2008-10-08 02:26:00 Author: chiropractor345 Posts: 161 |
Omg, I'll help do the Odyssey! I'm an expert on that sort of stuff. But I don't have the Beta. | 2008-10-12 08:31:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |

Love the way you said that, a little ironic actually. The parts that I can remember are a lady that turns people into pigs and a cyclops if that helps you Ozy. EDIT: Wow my internet did that double post thingy, but this site stops that. Good job there!!! | 2008-10-12 08:44:00 Author: Tomo009 Posts: 274 |
