Since LBP2 will feture a music creator, it might be a little bit easier to make songs. Anyone want a request or want to join the design/music making team? If you adjust the direct control seat right, I think you could use the guitar controller, too. (and the drums..?) ROCK ON!

Sounds like it could be pretty cool if it's done right (Guitar Hero 3 was NOT done right, but Rock Band was). Are you talking about using licensed music (without a license, obviously) or original compositions? I doubt the vocals could be done well. I dunno' how long the recorded sound effects/dialog can be, but it's a distinct possibility that it won't be the full length of a song (then again, they said 5 minute movies, so you might be able to record a five minute long sound file). You could probably put them on a timer/sequencer to play them in order, but it would be difficult to get just right. I'm not sure if the rock band instruments register exactly like regular controllers, but if they do, having a control scheme that works off the guitar and drums would be cool. You obviously wouldn't be able to sing along, so it'd be kinda' like "Guitar and Drum Hero." I had actually thought about how it would be possible to do a "Parappa the Rapper" game (or really any rhythm game). It'd be cool if someone with musical talent and a good sense of humor* made some kind of whimsical Parappa style game. * someone with a good sense of humor = anybody who DOESN'T think that "FAIL" and "AH'M FIRIN' MAH LAZOR" are funny.

if they made makeing music easyer then it is with lbp1 then count me in. I'm good at writing a tune but in lbp1 it was frustrating -_-

Thanks guys for the support in this project. Trying to achieve this in LBP1 was a pain, especially by myself. I really want to use a mix of LBP and retail songs. Who doesn't want to do a Lincoln Park or PassionPit song!

Should be easy once you've got a dcs to work with. Just run whatever button the colored key registers as through an AND gate with a one shot signal for the d-pad (the strummer registers as a d-pad, right?) and give a short window of time where it'll register as a hit. I dunno' how logic will work in lbp2, but everything except the controller mapping would be easy to do with lbp1 tech. I'm not much of a team player, so I won't be volunteering to join up or anything, but if you guys can't work out the logic when lbp2 comes out, I can help with it.

Also Starchy if you want to join the team and share ideas, I would be more than welcome to. Or you could just remain independent and do your own thing. There's plenty of songs that can be done, and I figure you'll probably stick to one song per level, so it's not like the idea can be considered "taken." I figure once the logic is done, it can just be set up with a template type thing that music could be pretty much just dropped into. Once that's done, it could be released in a copyable level and anybody could make their own rock band levels.... though obviously the team setup would be better/quicker 'cuz you could have individual people work on the individual instrument tracks, someone else could work on the machinima parts, and someone else could build sets and stuff. Rather than competing or whatever, anybody interested in this stuff should just collaborate whether you actually formally join the team or not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppq442ajz44 There it is (still kind of a demo but not really cause it rocks) The music sequencers wont work with tags correctly so you need to use regular sequencers and real songs not the MIDI crap. Im going to record lical bands and play them using the magic mouths synce with a normal sequencer into my level, sould use a lot of help sequencing if you want to help. If not no worries keep the music going tough!

Just please - if you will be aking another "push the buttons game" - this time to music - please work hard so the requested notes are to the beat of the musc + same music patters requires same button patters. There are already some GH games - some of them looks great - but random button mashing out of the music rhytm is just making them pointless. I would prefer just one song - but done really properly. Than more of them with another broken gameplay. Thanks
