Archive: 8 posts

How much did your creating improve, from when you got the game, and till' now? What did you learn? Do you think your still going to improve later on? Post pictures and comments telling us everything about your improvement. Here are my pics. The first three show my first level. Its called Cardboard (Sorry for the images being so small):

Now these are the images of my latest level, LittleBigAdventure 2 (Which I'm still working on ):

The in level title... of the level.

Now please share your photos and stories!

EDIT: Here is a tutorial on how to get images from your PS3 to your PC (Well, that's how I do it anyway):

1. Take a photo in LBP from the sticker menu.
2. Highlight it, press square and then press "Export to XMB".
3. Connect a USB or PSP with your PS3 system.
4. Export the images to the USB/PSP.
5. Now export the images that you've got on your USB/PSP onto your PC.
6. And here you go

haha XD I'm laughing just thinking about how my first level was bad...
Nice thread idea btw,

I grew so much since November '08, I always enjoyed tweaking lightning effects in a level, giving it a great mood. My very first SERIOUS level is still published, it's called "The Dark House of Mr. Redburgh"
And my Bomb level is a really good example of how much I improved my creating techniques. The level is separated in two half, the first being the original and the worst part
And the second half is what I've done in the past month. You can clearly see a difference between these two parts, trust me.

These days, I'm still working on a project(I always forget to take pics and upload them here :/ ) and I gotta tell you, my creating process is way better than before, I am thinking before putting something in my level. "Does it fit the story?" "Is it flowing good with the rest of the level?" These kind of questions...

Cool! I'm gonna play both of the levels today or tomorrow. Also, I've never thought of asking questions like that to my self while creating a level. Huzzah, I've learnt something! Thanks!

Oh gosh, my first level was TERRIBLE xD

I don't think it's possible for anyone's first try at a level to be that great, though. I'm still not proud of my creation ability. It seems the ONLY levels I can make are showcase levels for weird gadgets. I need to make more platformers

Well, my first "level" was the gardens template with golf balls everywhere. You had to walk over them and a couple were electrocuted. As expected, it never went anywhere.

My second level was the weddings template with an abomination of "traps" (you pull levers and always end up getting bombed). I ran out of thermo from so many bombs, and that was it. One part had a jetpack maze with the walls made of impact explosives.

My third level was a set of buildings with rz22g's tank prize, a part where you dragged a fish to "attract" Godzilla (I didn't know how to use emmiters, so dissolve activated and he fell from the sky), and a huge tower that was supposed to have a wrecking ball to smash Godzilla. Obviously, I was a fool to think I could pull that off at the time.

My fourth level was the first one I eventually finished and published (though I've published over it since then out of embarrassment). It was bad, but perfectly playable, and you could tell I tried. You ran through crossfires, dodging bombs emmiting from enemy's guns. The enemies were made out of camouflage sponge shaped in the default sackboy shape with black, simple guns glued on. Some were creatures, of which some you needed to shoot and others you needed to jump on the brains. I planned for a big ending, but had to end it with a simple treadless tank where you shot barriers until you got to the scoreboard.

As for an example of my evolved creating: rz22g's tank was the first LBP object that mesmerized me. Yet, I only saw it as a mass of wires, lights, sounds, and emmiters remarkably out of my creating league. I didn't even try to dissect it even though I badly wanted to know how it worked. Now, I make tanks that rz22g himself, now on my friends list, would probably admit are much more advanced than his.
