3d lbp possibility?

MM said that you can remake a lvl from Modern Warfare 2 and that you could make a fully automated First person shooter. So for it to be a First person shooter wouldn't it have to be in 3D?2010-05-15 16:47:00

Thye already said its 3 layered like LBP1 (well 3 thick layers) my guess is you can make it like that by angling the camera so it'll make it look like an FPS either moving through the wall (which i don't know how but they do show racing in the wall) or simply making a camera angle and whatnot, i don't know the full potentials of LBP2 yet so can't say, but 3D i'm almost sure there won't be.2010-05-15 17:10:00

Well, LBP1's graphics engine was 3d, but the physics engine wasn't. Looks like it's going to be the same deal.2010-05-15 18:05:00

Ooh! Ooh! Idea! from what Arradi said! Changeable Physics! Lol, a little far fetched, but yeah, that would be cool.

Anyway I highly don't LBP2 will have 3D capabilities, it just doesn't seem to be Mm's taste.

Well if you could adjust the camera angle to be a first person shooter then technically that is 3D right?

Oh well now you're just being extra technical!

LBP1 is going to be in 3D this summer (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24967-Little-Big-Planet-in-3D-in-the-summer-firmware-update), so I don't know why they'd scrap it for LBP2. They announced this along with their firmware announcements a while back ago.2010-05-15 20:45:00

I'm VERY sure they mean the 3D visuals... with the glasses required thingy, instead of 3D-ing the WHOLE GAME... would seem a pretty big cheese to choke on!

LBP is already 3 dimensional, it's just that you're limited to 3 layers in one of those dimension. It looks like LBP2 will basically let you choose which dimension only has 3 layers by altering the gravity and camera view. Have a look at this thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26934-First-Person-Shooter

But never mind that, where did Mm mention the MW2 level?

Could you or anyone else explain more? You mean turning the cam 90 degs to view it parallel to the 3 dimensions, like in Paper Mario?

I don't know Paper Mario, but yes, turning the camera 90 degrees, along with gravity, is basically it. Take a level, push it flat on its back, and you get a flat surface to walk around on, with the 3 layers becoming 3 different heights. The previews suggest the camera will be flexible enough to support this, but it's not yet clear if sackpeople or sackbots can walk across this surface, and if so, if they can jump up and down the three layers, or what happens when they walk off the surface.2010-05-16 14:07:00

Oh, now i get it. Paper Mario didn't use that trick, but making left-right axis the front-back. Your method is very probably used in the kart racing 2010-05-16 14:57:00

I don't know if anybody (or everybody) has noticed, but in the trailer, at one point the view changes from sidescrolling to top-down (in the part with the green, glowing pixle sackboys). This is going to be awesome! It could allow making a FPS like DOOM, but I wouldn't count on it. Instead, I'm dreaming about making a RPG. With the new logic options and this, you could make a separate top-down "map" view and the battle scene could be viewed from the side 2010-05-16 18:11:00

Wow i wish i thought of that RPG thing. And the trailer did have both remakes of Space Invaders and Breakout, so possibly this could be a way to easily remake other Arcade games. I'm thinking Pac-man, Galiga, Centipede, and maybe even Lunar Lander (which if you haven't played i highly recommend it). but maybe if you could shoot into the background, a rail shooter would be possible.
