I'll obviously be getting this.

I haven't even played portal yet!

My friend has though, and I watched him for "10 minutes", even though it was more like a half hour, but still...

No its about 3-5 hours depending on how good you are, but the PC version has a dedicated modding community so i'll definately be picking this up.

My computer is so old and slow that I'm pretty sure it can't run portal.
Good thing is that I have the orange box for the PS3

I can beat it in about 60-75 minutes, depending on how rusty I am, but playing the first time should only take 3-5 hours. As for the the modding community, it's definitely got some awesome stuff.

I suggest thinkingwithportals.com. The forums are pretty dead, but the content is awesome. At least it used to be...

Uh, more like an hour o_o. It's a very short game and the majority of it is the tutorial.

It's a good game, but it's also the most over-exaggerated. It gets way more credit than it really deserves. Don't get me wrong, it's a great little game... But, it's not really as innovative as everybody seems to think. Furthermore, the length and difficulty was really disappointing to me. I had been hoping for a much larger game, with far more complicated puzzles, and as a result was a little bit disappointed with it by the end of the game (although, you can't really be disappointed with the Orange Box as a whole ).

That being said everybody who is up for a fantastic hour of simple, yet elegant, puzzles should definitely consider cashing in on this opportunity. It's worth the time, for sure... Since it's free for a bit that's all that really matters. I don't know if I would really be willing to pay for portal again, though. I guess it would depend on the price... It's just too short, and when I played through it user made content was scarce, and not of very high quality. I'm sure that has changed now, though.

Sooo, have fun... But, don't ruin the game by over-using the references, please .

I don't have a steam account.

But I have Orange Box somewhere. I got stuck/lost in a red basement section in Portal at one point and gave up. :/
I'm somewhere near the end i'm guessing.

You will like the ending. Don't worry about that!

There are safe spots in that room where you can stand without being shot. Just play around. Take advantage of the quicksave option, by pressing F6. You can then reload with F7. Worse case scenario, search for Portal Chamber 18 on Youtube.

There are 19 chambers, but that last one is a bit "special"

I absolutely loved Portal and one of the things I enjoyed the most was the length! I loved that it was short and sweet!2010-05-15 15:52:00

considering Portal is a source game you can get a boatload of other mods. (which are basically full games)

- Pirates, vikings and Knights II ~ http://store.steampowered.com/app/17570/ ~

- Age of Chivalry ~ http://store.steampowered.com/app/17510/ ~

- Zombie Panic! source ~ http://store.steampowered.com/app/17500/ ~

etc...

edit: seems like the free version doesn't come with source SDK

Well I'm done. It didn't even take me a couple of hours to finish but I enjoyed every minute of it, love the end

I love the way they use the portal idea, I can't wait for the sequel. For the most part I just breezed through it but one part did stump me...

Do we need spoilers here? Well, right after you escape the fire I had no idea where to go but eventually figured it out.

I don't really think the player is supposed to hate GLaDOS... Stockholm syndrome is wonderful .

Funniest quote from GLaDOS:
Didn't we have some fun, though? Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit, and I said "Goodbye", and you were like "NO WAY", and then I was all like "We were going to pretend we were going to murder you". That was great

Yeah, that's one of my favorite lines... Along with:

"2 + 2 is.... 10! IN BASE 4 I'M FINE!"

I laughed .
