The Palace of Trials

Archive: 4 posts

For a long time now I've been working on this puzzle platformer action level called "The Palace of Trials". I don't want to spoil the experience of playing it, but what I'll say is that it takes place in an Asian-inspired palace. Your job is to confront your foe who resides at the top of the tallest tower. This confrontation will be located in another level spot, as the thermometer is being filled up too quickly. Currently, the level's layout is close to being finalized.
At the end of "The Palace of Trials", you are at the top of either a tall tower on the left, or on the right, depending on which of the two alternate paths you choose. I plan to build a bridge between the towers' tops, where there is an elevator that will take you to the top of a third middle tower (a thin layer). This elevator will be a regular floating platform that goes in front of the thin tower. The only problem is, I wish to have the scoreboard to be activated on the elevator itself when going up in order to create a stylish exit. Imagine ending the level whilst going up an elevator. This is also to prevent the player to jump off or fall off the platform as it goes up. He could land somewhere I do not intend for him to land at all. Unfortunately, I''m quite sure that the scoreboard occupies all of the game's layers with the exception of the front thin layer. Therefore, my plan seems to crumble under the weight of limitations. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas as to how I can achieve a stylish level exit while riding the floating platform in front of the back thin layer, or if there are any ideas that will help me come up with a good replacement for the original plan. I'm looking forward to everyone's input. Thank you.
By the way, once my level is completed, i will post about it in the level showcase section.

You can crush or dissolve the base of the scoreboard, then it only takes up a single thin layer.

Hm... but isn't that a bug? I'm afraid that using any bugs is dangerous because when LBP2 comes out, there may be a problem. Or...is it NOT a bug? If not, then I will be fine with crushing the base.

EDIT: Question answered.
