Please Tell me that LBP 2 will be coming out for psp...

Archive: 82 posts

I just finished watching and being amazed by the lbp 2 trailer. I want this game sooooo bad. Does anyone know if there are any plans at all to release number 2 on the psp?2010-05-12 05:49:00

No, don't think there are..

But I don't think a second LBP for the PSP1 would work, it seems like some of the limits have been met.

But a LBP2 for the PSP2 would be another story..

That's of course, if there will ever be a PSP2.

LBP PS3 = older game on a newer plaform, thus the sequel.

LBP PSP = newer game on an older platform, likely no sequel.

I wouldn't hold your breath for LBP2 on PSP. I've heard a few people bring it up Even if they decided to make it, I don't think that we would see it for another year since LBP PSP is still pretty new. I agree with Matt that we seem to have already maxed out the PSP with LBP PSP anyway.

I'm pretty happy with LBP PSP though, and I don't even think that I really want a giant sequel yet. However, I wouldn't mind if they brought out some DLC that added a new tool that changed the game a bit (like what paintanator or water did for PS3, only PSP couldn't handle those, so it would have to be something else).

actually what i would love to see is, instead of an lbp2, a lbp rpg. instead of building in 2D-ish side view you would build in 2D birdseye view or like pokemon style. complete w/ customised battling etc.
id love to be able to do that. i mean imagine making ur own short rpg! epic!

When I carefully looked at LBP2 trailer I thought that the authors made very cool addition to the original game. Unfortunately there are so many changes, that it can be realized only with improved game engine and IMHO it is the only reason why we will have new part on PS3 (generally it looks like big addon). But I think that psp already reached its limits with LBP1 game on it (I saw many bugs with big levels in creation mode) and if author will not optimize game engine I think it is impossible to do next part with big add-ons for psp (or we will have many limitations to save it performance). It is my IMHO.

And I think that we will see some new interesting gameplay features with new Turbo addon. And it is very cool! It is the opportunity to make levels with new mechanics and logic! It is the best thing for me (I have many ideas for new levels with original game and will be absolutely happy to have new ingame features)

Yes, I think the PSP version is really cool as it is and since it's still rather new, a sequel might be asking a bit too much. They may have some awesome surprises for us in future updates, though ^^.

LBP2 looks incredible! I don't have a PS3, but now I'm surely going to get one... somehow 0_0...

1. Its on DS.
2. Its likely never to be released out of japan.
3. Though that doesn't stop it from being awesome.

there might be a new lbp psp2 but we will have to see in a year or 2 when lbp2 is out for those 2 years or more or maybe a whole bunch of features like the grappling hook and the bouncy pad things and other stuff off of lbp2 for the psp version? hmm maybe! 2010-05-12 21:28:00

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying that wouldn't you prefer to have your game supported longer? LBP PSP hasn't even been out for a year, has it? I'm sure if there's a demand, an LBP PSP2 will come out for the PSP.

How could anyone not want LBP2 =) ? It looks absolutely amazing! ^^

However, the PSP version is still very new, and as mentioned by others before me, features from the PS3 are sometimes way too much for the PSP to handle, so it's rather early and a bit unrealistic to expect a sequel for the PSP version just yet (besides, it's still very fun as it is). And that's why so many of us are planning to get a PS3 .

Well LBP PSP has only been out for like 7 months ish.

You can't expect them to announce a psp version yet. That's even if the psp can handle some of the new stuff that will be crammed into lbp2. If they're gonna try and make the same kind of port that they achieved with lbp 1.

And MM don't even make or support the psp game, so nothing they're doing will affect what updates you'll be getting for lbp psp...

I would have understand if LBP PSP had been released at the same time that LBP1, but this is not the case...

As Dorien said, LBP PSP is relatively new so why a sequel now...?
No one is left in the dust, it's just a matter of time...

Be patient and enjoy the game for now... or buy a PS3 in 6 months if you can't wait

Exactly....just wait it's bound to come out eventually...it hasn't even been out that long so you shouldn't really expect a sequel...

Just cause lbp2 is coming out on ps3 doesn't mean there is going to be a lbp2 on the psp as well....but meh don't worry about it you haven't been left in the dust. Hang in there

no offence but i really dislike LBP PSP and personally dont think you are getting the full LBP Expierience. so really... dont complain about u not getting a sequel if it is just going to be poo like the first. The PsP didnt alow them very much to play with. So my best advice would be... GET A PS3! Simple. May cost money but what doesnt now' days? True. The problem with lbp psp is that your so limited as to what you can make. Especially since you can't 'draw' a shape because you either have to use the corner editing to or the grid. So I would definitely recommend getting a PS3.

I agree with most people on this thread, it is too early for an LBP PSP sequel. If you want one so badly, just get a PS3.

I also agree with fruitman that the PSP version is very limited in terms of what you can do. I mainly use my copy to play the story mode when I'm not at home. But that's just me.

But don't worry, no one has forgotten you! And chances are, Cambridge Studios didn't even know that Mm was making an LBP sequel, and therefore could not begin to make one on the PSP. Could be wrong but, hey! ^_^

Yep, as others have said, LBP2 has been under production or over a year or something like that, before it was announced. There may well be a sequel for the PSP version but if they were ready to announce it now, then they wouldn't have done much work on it, therefore it would likely be rubbish. So in that respect, it's a good thing that they haven't announced a sequel

moved to everything else PSP.

We have no need for a sequel, not now, not ever. We can get plenty more stuff with this game and that's all we need. As of now,no radical thing could be produced on PSP that would warrent a sequel. So focus on what you can add to this one instead of clamoring for a sequel.

Also, LBP on PSP is a very good game, and shame on those who didn't have the patience to create in it. I'm so sick of PS3 users coming in here to tell us our game is a piece of rubbish. Wanna know something? We have to work through all the limitations, all the glitches, and we still make things like Now and Then, Jimmy's Room, and The Right Stuffing that in my opinion would put a great deal of PS3 levels to shame. So take a look at these levels (and others) and think next time before you go PSP bashing.

You wouldn't need a new engine for gravity (just swap the hard-coded value for a variable value) and there is plenty of stuff you could do without building the engine from scratch, exactly the same as the PS3 has done. It may well happen too, given enough time and the will for the devs to do it and when it does, I'm sure you'll be happy about having more.

I bet they are working on all these things right now:

day/night (a given)
gravity
water (not very likely but wanting to believe they are)
pantinator (same as water)
...
...
thats all I got.
What do all you other sackfolk think they are working on(other than level packs and stuff like that).

I think you're both right, in a way ^^. We never know what the developers might do. Maybe one day they will think up means to add enough cool features to make a sequel and it'll be the best thing ever. But for now, LBP PSP is awesome. It's incorporated as much stuff as the PSP can handle at the moment and, as BlueBulletBill said, it's sufficient for those with enough patience and creativity to make a lot of amazing levels.

They already said a multiplayer is not possible, but I wonder if they could make a multiplayer disk? A disk for LBP PSP that is made specifically for multiplayer. I'm not exactly sure how they could format the levels on the community moon to read two sackboys.....there goes this idea

Considering that I see the following line :

Developer: Media Molecule

I'm pretty sure they just got the platform wrong. Then again... without any official confirmation for or against it, it's not impossible IMHO.

Well, they could be co-operating with Cambridge. Either that, or Mm just feels like developing LBP2 PSP on their own. Remember, they were a third-party company before the release of LBP PSP, so now that they're a first-party company under Sony they might consider making the game themselves.

I don't believe it either, but I do consider this - CODs come out in similar timing, and thousands of gaming sheep still flock to stores to buy them, with little innovation between each one.

Yea lbp2 for psp would be awsome but they would still have to take some things out of it, and everyone will still be dissapointed its not like the ps3 lbp2.

i think i might get a ps3, but after most of us psp users get a ps3 and lbp2 what will happen to lbp psp?

I know that when I get LBP2 I'll probably never build on it. Giving a player that much power will inevitably mean that only a small class of elites will be known, while on PSP I can actually be recognized.2010-08-06 22:11:00

You still shouldn't get your hopes up. Remember, it has only been a little over a half a year since the PSP version has been out. :/

The same thing was said for LittleBigPlanet 2 on the PS3. And just look at us now....

I see what you mean. only the favorites will get there levels played the most.

There's also the fact that our PSP's can't handle much more than we already have in LBP PSP.
If they release an LBP PSP 2, there will be a world wide crisis of PSP's blowing up right in front of our faces.
I think the only way LBP PSP 2 is possible is if there is a new PSP that can handle much more than our PSP's now.

Actually, if anything, the lack of processing power on the psp is more reason to provide you with dedicated logic tools etc. It costs far less resource to directly calculate a llogic function than to process all of the mechanics that are required to produce them atm....2010-08-07 16:02:00

In this short interview from Gamescon Alex Evans describes that LBP2 for PSP may be a possibility.

Evans, co-founder of Media Molecule and creator of LittleBigPlanet, has said that he is hopeful of making a PSP version of LBP2 - and thinks it would be "very cool".

Evans left Peter Molyneux's Lionhead studio to found Media Molecule and went on to create LittleBigPlanet for Sony.

His first title proved to be very popular and led to the creation of the 'Play, Create, Share' line of Sony games.

However, Evan stated that Media Molecule is currently fully focused on LBP2 for PS3.

"[LBP2 on PSP] would be lovely, but to be honest we're just focusing on getting the PS3 one done," Evans told Digital Spy.

He also took the opportunity to praise SCE's Cambridge Studio, which handled the PSP port of the first game.

"I think that Cambridge studio, who did the first PSP one, did a great job but I've no announcements I'm afraid."

"I think it would be cool though, I think it would be very cool."

Sony has described LBP2 as its next big title on the PS3 and pledged a continued commitment to first party studios.

Stuff and things

This should probably go in Speculation, or something. Or perhaps even in the PSP section.
Evans hopes to one day make it, but it's not planned. So, yeah.

So, Alex Evans likes LBP PSP and thinks a sequel would be nice?

This certainly isn't newsworthy, or relevant to the sequel on the PS3 as far as I'm concerned. Let's find you somewhere more suitable to live.

edit: That'll do, in the existing thread speculating about LBP2 for PSP

Hehe, whoops didn't see this thread. Thank you RTM!

I do think a sequel would be nice, but there is a lack of processing power on the PSP,

Perhaps a move to Speculation and Suggestions? After all, there really isn't any news, just speculation...

Hey man I realize you're new but there's no need to revive a thread from 5 months ago.
