I think it's fairly safe to say that no-one really knows at this time. I suspect MM will take this into account, and allow you to import any DLC you've paid for, regardless of whether it was via GotY or not, but this is just speculation.

Well, I can't see myself how this would work. But it just seems like common sense to find some way of transferring it over, I mean think of all the complaints from people who had GOTY when they play LBP 2 only to find they can't edit their levels or even wear some of their custom costumes because they bought the GOTY.

To me that seems like a good enough reason for them to try and find some way, even if it means having to track down each person who bought it, knocking on their door and giving them piles of free DLC codes... Ok, maybe not that far....

Well, I can, but again, it's mostly speculation.

Here's a quick quote from my incomplete and unpublished guide to rolling back your LBP version. I haven't bothered finishing it off, as I wasn't sure there would be enough interest to make it worthwhile...

Step 1: Familiarizing Yourself With LBP's Data Files

Before doing anything, it's worth taking a look at the various files which are created by LBP, and understanding what they all do.

We'll start with the files in the Game Data Utility area on your PS3, so from the XMB, choose "Game", then "Game Data Utility", and you should find some files which relate to LBP. They are:-

A file called "LittleBigPlanet?" which contains all the patch data since version 1.00. Pressing triangle and selecting "Information" should show what patch version you're currently at. At the time of writing, mine says it's version 1.26 and has a size of 795 MB.
A file called "LittleBigPlanet? Downloadable content" which, despite its name, doesn't actually contain any downloadable content, but rather information about which of the DLC releases you are authorized to use. The actual DLC data itself is contained within the patch data file just described. You will only have this file if you've downloaded at least one item from the LittleBigStore, which is highly likely considering how many of them are free. This generally doesn't change its size much, and should be about 1 MB in size.
One or more files called "<PSN ID> LittleBigPlanet Profile" which contains the profile data for the user "PSN ID". These will vary in size depending on how many levels you have on your moon, saved objects, costumes, etc.

I suspect that the called "LittleBigPlanet? Downloadable content" file is a permissions bitmap file, which contains a list of which DLC releases the PS3 is authorized to access, and this will be reused by LBP2 to determine which DLC releases will be available.

I'd guess that even if you have the DLCs bundled with GotY, that this file will still contain the correct permission mappings to make the game know that you're authorized to use that DLC.

What concerns me more is that LBP2 might modify some of these files (particularly your profile data) in such a way that they may no longer work with LBP1, but hopefully my fears are unjustified.
