I think LBP2 will lose it's awesomeness...

Archive: 29 posts

i mean, it sounds like creating is going to be so simple, and that they expect you to make tons of minigames. well... it's just not the same. i mean, in LBP if you make anything like the stuff they showed in the video, you've got some serious skills. but now it seems as if anyone can do it, and it doesn't take as much thinking and logic to create it.2010-05-12 02:04:00

I'm sure it will still take skill to make a good level, not to worry 2010-05-12 02:06:00

if anyone can make a great LBP1 level in 2, then the elite LBP1 creators will be Godly in LBP2 because they will create 150ish percent better.2010-05-12 02:08:00

Nostalgia syndrome already hitting LBP? It's same "skill" talk like it was with Starcraft 1 to 2... whats the problem with simpleness, simple awsomeness = more awsomeness2010-05-12 02:12:00

Wasnt it stated that the microchips are not easier, just space efficient? If anything it will probably be more complicated.2010-05-12 02:14:00

Which looks simpler?

Or this:

Button connected to A and button connected to B need to be pressed in same time to OUT output set signal to emitter (for example) to emit object

i think it probably is simplified... but thats not bad either. look at the things we have made with tech today. and all technology is a simplified form of an older too complicated version. electric lights are a simple version of the fire torch.2010-05-12 02:29:00

Yeah sure people, ametures even, will create better levels but shouldn't that be an improvement to everyone? No more one of those lame bike racing lvls, but then LBP2 sets new standards. People who've made bad levels would make decent levels, people who've made decent levels will make good levels and so on...you know what I'm sayin'?2010-05-12 02:34:00

Oh, little correction i didn't notice i posted image of NAND gate (ball at beginning indicates inversion of output), so Button connected to A and button B need to be pressed to output OUT stop sending the signal to turn of the LED light

Sorry for error

Does it matter?
They're making creation easier and much more clear for beginners, but at the same time they're adding tons of new complicated features like programming direct control seats and sackbots for the hardcore fans. I think it will definitely appeal to both kinds of people.
I mean, what's so bad about making logic simpler? It benefits everyone.

Actually Direct Control Seat will be supper easy as switches It simply turns your DS3/SixAxis buttons and sticks in to normal, 2-way, 3-way switches that you from LBP1, if you ever made wheel vehicle controlled by the switches in LBP1 you will quickly understand how to use Direct Control Seat!2010-05-12 02:48:00

@Shadowriver: That's true, but from what I understand, you can link direct control seats to all kinds of contraptions includings Sackbots. For all we know, we could create a chain of Sackbots driving Sackbots driving Sackbots and so on.
I can see where hardcore creators can really take advantage of the complexity of the new tools.

Yes, of corse you can plug individual buttons of pad to everything that you can plug wire to, we still don't know how deep logic elements will be, but if there something missing hardcore creators might find a alternative solution, same as mechanical logic solutions in LBP1 (you can't tell that logic is part of LBP1).

I suppose each logic elements will have tutorial same as LBP1 have, more people will understand it and have more advance levels still i meet people on LBP that making levels with doors, but don't know how to use relay switch or even 2-way switches, thats hard examples of players and they might even have problem with LBP2 XD

I thought LBP 2 was gonna be not as good.
Although, I WAS WRONG after seeing the video. The game looks WAY AWESOME!!!
Very different and more complex I would say.
It sure is different.

Logic isn't everything you know. Meida Molecule can't make people creative just by adding easier to use tools. I, for one, have some difficulty coming up with good gameplay ideas. I'm good at logic if I do say so myself, and I excel in aesthetics. If only logic is simplified, atmosphere and gameplay are still left up to the creator. Something that MM can't instill into their audience, just something that they have to hope we have. I think that creativity in this case can correspond to skill.2010-05-12 03:34:00

IDK, it seems it might be a lil harder for the good creators to stand out, I always thought lbp2 wouldn't come, and if there were new things they would just make dlc.....2010-05-12 03:54:00

The beauty about LBP2 is people will have levels, showing off their advance mircochips and you will be able to get the ones you want in your levels. So the people who are great at making logic can share it with the LBP community!2010-05-12 03:59:00

Am I reading correctly? Is someone complaining about potentially more great levels?

Does not compute.

It won't make things THAT easy. Imagine someone who can't tell AND and OR apart trying to make sackbots interactive and plain awesome.
Or somebody creating their first level. Would they be able to make it look as good as experienced creators?

You don't have to make mini games, but you can! Never do they force upon you what they want you to make. Ever.2010-05-12 13:27:00

I believe that in LBP2 the skill level between good and... well don't want to say bad... good and not-so-experienced creators will be even BIGGER than it is in LBP2. I don't believe that making all those awesome minigames in trailer would be so easy as they sell it. I believe it's as hard as everyone would think at the first moment. And even if it becomes easy to make cool level it would not bother. Then you have much more great levels to play and it's a good thing.2010-05-12 20:43:00

You make a good point, but I think it wouldn't be THAT easy to make a good level, I don't think it'll be harder at all, it's just going to have a lot more gadgets and stuff2010-05-12 21:03:00

I understand your point of view, and I feel a bit the same.

I mean, we used to work very hard to make stuff like... a little movie, robots, boss battles. Now it looks much simpler. But even if these things will probably be easier to do, there will always be logics using LBP2's tools that will be rather hard to do and to understand, and that will requiere a third LBP one day

Let me put it like this;

Imagine someone has the creativity to make a level far beyond anything you, or anyone else, has imagined. But what if they were not too good at creating? What if their creating skills were lacking while their creativity skills were through the roof? If things are easier, now we will see better levels than ever before.

Seriously; easier tools FTW!

Creating masterpieces will still take skill if that's what you're worried about.

I actually think that most levels will be awesome, and if you don't want to create stuff, let the people who are amazing at it make it, and you play it!2010-05-13 02:17:00
