I think maybe I'll wait until LBP2 to start Creating seriously... On the one hand, I've waited ages to really get into Creating, but on the other hand, by the time I really get into the swing of things, LBP2 will be out, my head will asplode, etc.

Discuss.

I sorta know how you feel. I just started a new project a few days ago that should take a while to complete, and now we're suddenly informed that the sequel to Little Big Planet will be in stores this year. I'm a little overwhelmed on what to do.2010-05-10 21:57:00

Don't know if I can be bothered to continue making any LBP1 levels now. There's only one I might try and finish, but it'll probably be outdated by the time LBP2 arrives. 2010-05-10 22:14:00

What Nuclearfish said. I want to, but I dunno, I just lost all motivation after seeing the trailer. All those new features would make my level dull.2010-05-10 22:16:00

Yeah, I'm not going to bother with creating any levels for LBP1. I'll just enjoy the community levels...

That is if everyone doesn't stop creating because of this .

For that matter, I'm wondering about what to do in regards to DLC. Looks like water is in the story mode. Will you still need the PotC pack to use it?2010-05-10 23:43:00

I'd still start working on a level. There is so much you learn while actually building one, even if you don't actually publish it before LBP2 is out, it's worth it. And when LBP2 does come out, you can always add some of the new features to it. You could even build a level with the new features in mind, so you have a head start. 2010-05-11 10:18:00

I know all published levels will be transported over, but will works in progress be carried over as well?

Personally i'll still create, not that i'd consider myself a big creator anyway. I'm working on a level at the moment and i think it'll be finished in a few days.

I know alot of people are saying they're going to wait, but it's like 6 months away. That's plenty of time to create still! I may finish one of my levels. always been meaning too.2010-05-11 14:20:00

They did say DLC will be backwards compatible, and when combined with the pics I've seen, they obviously have ALL DLC, so that may be why you saw that in the trailer.
P.S. - I also am thinking about waiting because MY big project is a translation of an old DOS platforming game into LBP, but with the new toys, it will be *so* much easier to make it the way I want.

I'd say create like crazy but save your REALLY good ideas for LBP2, I can guarantee you'll appreciate you used that time practising level making as usually playing a creators entire collection from start to finish shows significant improvements. I know I've come a long way since The Wizards Tower where I felt like a genius for making an elevator that goes up when you stand inside it when nowadays I'm throwing motion sensors and pistons about like crazy. Fun fact: It took me until my second level (Shoot or Sneak) to realise there was a grid. I still have loads to learn and if anything the premise of LBP2 inspires me more to get creating in preparation. Don't want to go in there with cobwebs, I want to be first on the scene with an awesome level utilizing all the fresh features.2010-05-11 16:21:00
