Non-Sackboy Playable Characters
Archive: 22 posts
Some of you people may have noticed Larry Da Vinci down there in the trailer and the LBP2 section of the official website. As you can tell, this gentleman is clearly not of Sack-Kind. So I was wondering, do people think there will be more of these characters? One for each zone in the story mode perhaps? Could you play as them somehow? Could you put them in your own levels? Let me know what you think. http://www.littlebigplanet.com/images/assets/shared/announce/feature-cutscenes.jpg http://www.littlebigplanet.com/images/assets/shared/announce/feature-adventure.jpg | 2010-05-10 21:02:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
well, it said somewhere with direct control seats and the option to take sackboy out of the level, you can play as anyone. also, i think larry is a curator creator so there's bound to be others. | 2010-05-10 21:04:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Well, there is a costume of him... Maybe this is just a sized-up sackbot with that costume? | 2010-05-10 21:06:00 Author: Darth Posts: 186 |
he is probably a sack bot with his look changed. just cuz we have only seen 2 types (sack, and wooden) doesnt mean there wont be more... like cardboard like. Idk. maybe there will be stone types sponge types etc... | 2010-05-10 21:07:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
If all the creator curators in LBP2 are going to be Sackbots I would love to see what the old creator curators from LBP1 would look like with a full 3D makeover | 2010-05-10 21:12:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
I cant imagine the king.. This is LBP#1's death! | 2010-05-10 21:14:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
Bring your little Sackperson on a brand-spanking-new adventure, wrought with mild, and possibly even pant-wetting peril, and spanning an entire cosmos of tomfoolery... Happy that no more demands are being made to him after his successful adventure to return sharing to LittleBigPlanet, it’s all going swimmingly for Sackboy... That is, until a some kind of inter-dimensional, hyper-spatial, 1800 watt Vacuum Cleaner appears in the skies, causing quite the ruckus and sucking Sackboy up into its musty bowels. All jolly sinister and most inconvenient. Happily, a jolly nice fellow named Larry Da Vinci intervenes and rescues him from what has come to be known as The Sucker. Da Vinci, it turns out, is in charge of “The Alliance”, a semi-secret, semi-organised group devoted to fighting The Sucker before it destroys the whole Cosmos. You’re about to get recruited, I’ll bet my teeth! A grand adventure is afoot, with a butt-load of new themes, toys, enemies and all manner of shenanigans. It says he's part of an Alliance so i'd presume theres more. Personally i'm glad they're giving NPC's life like attibutes instead of Wooden cutouts. Although a part of me will miss them. | 2010-05-11 11:16:00 Author: Mkwone Posts: 104 |
I'm thinking in the beginning/tutorial there will be Sackbots showing you new things, they'll do an obstacle, then you'll do it after them. It'll be great. | 2010-05-11 11:47:00 Author: TripleTremelo Posts: 490 |
i believe that you can play as larry da vinci. i just watched the new episode of care and there was a small segment of sack boy changing into different costumes. one was larry da vinci and 2 others with a bird cage head and the other with a note book body. i really do like the concept of playing other characters so this should be interesting. | 2010-05-13 05:02:00 Author: nikumokatsuru Posts: 11 |
Yes, I've seen the same video. Now we can play as sackpeople, Yellowhead and the Creator Curators from LBP2 (According to the vid). I kinda hope we get to play as a sackbot (not control one), I just love the way they look. Also, I saw one costume in the trailer which appears to be a helmet filled with a moving liquid. It seems the costumes are getting a lot better!!! | 2010-05-14 11:57:00 Author: The Last Stop Posts: 240 |

I am not planning on changing thier wooden form to any of the sackboy forms, they look too cool! Maybe we could possibly corner edit and material change them? | 2010-05-14 13:07:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
Here's a photo proving that you can dress up as Larry Da Vinci! http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af332/MrTynamite/100_1122.jpg | 2010-05-14 13:22:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
The woman with the birdcage helmet you can see in the Qore video is probably the creator curator of the "Designer Organic" levels. likewise, the square guy with the paperclip on his head is the leader/curator/guide of the "Neon propaganda" stages. | 2010-05-14 13:26:00 Author: kiwin Posts: 218 |

They remind me of the iron Giant with their wooden jaws. | 2010-05-14 16:20:00 Author: Ryuhza Posts: 355 |
The Da Vinci NPC is clearly seen as not a Sackperson, but a Cardboardman. As seen in the trailer, he has the liberty to stamp little contracts with red wax imprints, therefore giving you clearance to a certain part of a level. Nobody other then MediaMolecule themselves knows for sure what his perpous is really, all information currently is theorized from what is seen and heard from the Beta Preview. Perhaps you can select him in your NPC menu and place him in your levels, from there on you can program his appearance and what he is assigned to do. Example: collect all the donuts and return to him, then he'll stamp the paper giving you some points and allow you to move on! | 2010-05-14 16:27:00 Author: PoD CREW Posts: 268 |
I'm very super really sure Larry da Vinci is just a Sackbot dressed like the sack himself. And that trick with Wax Seals, it can be relatively easily done with Emitters and really really tiny blocks and Wax Seal Decorations. A thing I haven't seen around here yet is about their movement. What if Sackbots could be set to mimic exactly whatever their new favourite Sackperson does if he/she truds into the bot's range? | 2010-05-18 19:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
Coasterfreak, thought of that as well. I don't know whether mimicry of your sackperson would work (especially 100% synced), but I know what will definitely work: Hooking your direct control seat to multiple sackbots at once. That way, you could create passages where you have to operate 2 or more sackbots simultaneously (with the same or an inverted control). I see lots of cool puzzles heading our way. | 2010-05-18 22:18:00 Author: Treas Posts: 223 |
Yeps! And when the Sackbots have different weight/jumping abilities/such... Who says Sackbots are useless? | 2010-05-19 07:28:00 Author: Unknown User |

What if Sackbots could be set to mimic exactly whatever their new favourite Sackperson does if he/she truds into the bot's range? It HAS already been confirmed sackbots will be able to replicate/ mimic a sackboy and record the movements (or something like that) Well my point is it IS possible to set them to do specific stuff. Yeps! And when the Sackbots have different weight/jumping abilities/such... Who says Sackbots are useless? He did... https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26899-Why-have-sackbots-at-all&p=467210#post467210 | 2010-05-19 08:16:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Yeah, it's confirmed that you, as a creator, can let your sackboys execute certain movement patterns or even record your own. We're talking about realtime-mimicry here; this means that you, as a creator, place a sackbot in your level, and as soon as someone playing the level gets near the sackbot, it would copy every single move of the player. Now I'm sure you could do this by many clever means, with a grid of mag keys, a PTD or something like that. This would, however, not be 100% syncable, thus always staying a breakable and unreliable puzzle element. Rather, I'd just hook sackboy to a DCS and make him control 2 sackbots with the exactly same wires. That way, you can ensure that both playable characters are perfectly synced. You could even add a top-down element to this. I've seen similar puzzles in other commercial games as well; controlling 2 characters at once, having to steer them through some sort of maze. You have to use walls in order to block the movement of one player in order to reposition them correctly. | 2010-05-19 08:56:00 Author: Treas Posts: 223 |
Yeps, I've played them too. Maybe we should do a co-op creation? | 2010-05-19 12:49:00 Author: Unknown User |
