Sackbots :]

Possibly the most exciting concept for me, apart from direct control. And cutscenes.
M'kay, so I love it all xD
But, do you think the sackbots will be particularly customisable, or do you think we can only apply stickers etc.?

Maybe it's like a video camera-esque thing. You know, it records the sackperson's movement for a set time, and then has the sackbot copy?2010-05-10 19:41:00

from what i have read they are fully AI programmable, fully sizable, and they can use ALL the costuming options sackboy can. basically, an AI sackboy. They dont have to look wooden either. there are pics of several sackbots looking JUST like sackboys.2010-05-10 19:44:00

But in that case, i'm really excited. I can't wait for LBP2, I sold LBP a while ago but i'm really considering getting it back, I didn't realize how much i'd miss it xD

Well, you could have a sackbot suspended from the ceiling, attached to each other, attached to objects, etc.

Say you've got a level where you're using a sackbot as some sort of dangerous animal, like a bear. It could run after you, but be restrained by a chain. If you've got horror levels, you could have them with chains on all their limbs. The chains would get tighter and tighter until they rip off/the sackbot breaks/some sort of snazzy effect is thrown in.

As far as I'm aware, you can do these things to sackbots (will add to the list if anything else comes up)

Use all costume pieces on them
Sticker/decorate them.
Control them with control seats
Make them hostile (enemies)
Give them special abilities, like double jumps or super-strength
Assign weakspots to them
Make them follow/flee from/ignore sackboy (simple AI controls from LBP1)
Make them scared of heights
Record/program their movements and AI
Give them custom-recorded sound effects

As for their abilities, I believe they can grab stuff. I'm not sure though if they can use power-ups.

^^ Just take a look at that list. With all these options the possibilities are endless!

I notice something interesting, i think Sackbots will have inputs for logic circuitry same as control seats have outputs, just look at this pic:

This sackbot is controlled by control seat and even garbing the material! It might be by simply puting it on sackbot... but hopefully you can so something advance by logic circuitry

I get the feeling, when it comes out, i'm just going to sit creating thousands of sackbots and messing around with them xD
Especially because you can use direct control, so you have pretty much pre made mech bases 8D

there is also an option called "monster head", not sur what that is yet. quessing its some sort of giant/deformed head :S
but in there trailer when sackboy goes into the room and there are lots of sackbots, there are some with out of proportion limbs.

I love the idea of them so much, just the whole ability to make them look like an army, follow you, copy you, be controlled by you.

Also kinda reminds me of a drawing of a robot I drew like half a year ago (maybe more)

See, you could make that. Have it so when you get close, it lifts it's arm up and puts an angry face on, and just have it only say "Talk to the hand."
That just proves how cool it it!

Of course it wont be perfect, but I'm sure arm movements will be included and it wont be hard to copy the dance in a way.

Lol, Imagine a fake check-point that spawns a sack-lookalike when you pass it. It would surley get on the nerves of some when they pass by a checkpoint in OC (if they have it for LBP2) and a new player pops-out and follows them..2010-05-13 02:00:00
