It sounds like a stupid question but will there be a regular LBP spotlight still? Will the spotlight be divided into sub-categories (ie FPS, platformers, RPGS)? How will it be handled? ![]() | 2010-05-10 17:45:00 Author: bonner123 ![]() Posts: 1487 |
I think we may be getting ahead of ourselves a bit here ![]() | 2010-05-10 17:57:00 Author: jackofcourse ![]() Posts: 1494 |
We'll see eh ![]() I'm sure most of the current spotlighters will be buying LBP2.. but it really depends on what LBP2 is like.. either way it's more a matter of time than anything | 2010-05-10 18:13:00 Author: Coxy224 ![]() Posts: 2645 |
Well, given the new website they'll be putting up, Spotlight will be significantly easier to do. One imagines that one will be able to maintain a list of favourites or something. So Spotlight just needs to create a PSN ID, and then everyone can just follow that on the new website. | 2010-05-10 18:39:00 Author: roux- ![]() Posts: 379 |
It's a little early for sure but I don't see why there wouldn't be a spotlight for LBP2. It's been a feature on LBPC for quite a while and I don't see that changing. Up to CC ultimately though. | 2010-05-10 19:44:00 Author: Morgana25 ![]() Posts: 5983 |
Yes, we want ten recommendations each in 5 or 6 sub categories. You Spotlight lot can probably manage 50 levels every two weeks can't you? Yeh, course you can! | 2010-05-10 19:52:00 Author: julesyjules ![]() Posts: 1156 |
lol - we actually play close to 100 every two weeks as it is now.... it will be interesting to see how the genre stuff will affect how we classify levels for LBP2 though. | 2010-05-10 20:48:00 Author: Morgana25 ![]() Posts: 5983 |
ps, Morgana, I demand notification the moment you publish the new level. I can't wait to go WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEE again ![]() Preferably without Yarudark attempting to nom my head. | 2010-05-11 02:56:00 Author: roux- ![]() Posts: 379 |
I was going to put this in its own thread, but I think it might fit here: As it seems creators are about to get their own zones/planets/whatever, level postings here might benefit from a change, eventually. Because we're gonna get url to level pages by default, it seems like level threads could get smaller...and in exchange, we could put more focus into our profiles. I can see someone like, say, Morgana having a "hub" right on her profile page. "My favorite colors are secondary, and I like lighting. Average level difficulty: middlin'." Then, after talking about her "design ethos", she'd just bust out the links, and send links to new levels to the forum instead of full level descriptions. | 2010-05-15 02:23:00 Author: coyote_blue ![]() Posts: 422 |
TBH, I don't see how the fact that LBP2 is designed for more genres would affect the spotlight selection. I mean, the current spotlight levels are simply all the levels that are considered to be of a high enough quality. Genre is not a factor. This will likely still be the case. The only thing that I can see changing is that we may present the levels by grouping them by genre, but I'm not even sure that is worthwhile. Addition of links to lbp.me and and indicator of genre is all we might need to add to the overview of the level in the level in the showcase thread. | 2010-05-15 11:51:00 Author: rtm223 ![]() Posts: 6497 |
Yeah the postlight crew play a tonne of levels normally, so we'll have to wait and see whether we get a major influx of new members etc. Again it's just a "we'll see as it comes" sort of thing. If there's that many new members we could always have a couple of teams that just cover different genres? | 2010-05-15 11:52:00 Author: Coxy224 ![]() Posts: 2645 |

Fair enough. And it's possible to use the profile the way I'm thinking of. Any additional tweaking would be cosmetic, and likely depend on knowing stuff we don't yet. | 2010-05-15 17:41:00 Author: coyote_blue ![]() Posts: 422 |
