A Walk in the ParkBinarynova
My first finished level in LBP. A simple platforming level with a few hidden areas and a tricky race.
Hi everyone! My level "A Walk in the Park" was just published last night. There's not much to it. Read: I have absolutely no switches because the way logic works in LBP scares me.

I just found the Logic Pack here on LBPC though, and when I get home I'm going to be working with those to try to add some more interesting contraptions to my levels.

But that's neither here nor there, this is about "A Walk in the Park". I used to play Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country for hours on end. Those games inspired a few of the ideas you'll see in my level. DKC is what inspired the little hidden areas that are just barely in view. SMW inspired ideas like the spinning wheel and the hidden cloud area.

This level was done fairly quickly. As I progressed I became more and more excited about the prospect of publishing a level. But I know I already committed one cardinal sin... I built this level as I went. No pre-planning aside from "simple platforming with few complicated gadgets."

First off, thanks again for playing and giving feedback for my level (Mkwone's Platforming Cave).

Ok, Overall an average to good level. I like the fact that you reward players with points for going off the beaten track. I also like the core gameplay. It's relativly easy but you've also got to take your time in some sections and if yoou're not careful you can die.

I liked that everything was handcrafted. I presume the enermies are your own, regardless they suit the colourful level and can be danerous although i think there placement could be better. I believe the third one in can easily be avoided just by changing planes so it doesn't require any effort from the player to avoid.

My biggest critism is of the style, very basic. Personally i don't like being able to see the bottom of levels (the brickwork in this case) but that's just a minor thing. the materials fell a bit like they were placed without thought and are basic shapes. I think with a little work on the corner editor to make it look less blocky, and the tree trunks look a bitt rough around the edges. Maybe try and use a few more materials to make it look less samey. I can see that you've tried to keep it very natural, not using any stickers but it does look a little bare.

Overall good gameplay let down the design. Improve these and i think the level will be worth at least an extra :star:
