Old LBP glitches

Archive: 13 posts

I wonder if you'll be able to use things like the 3D layer glitch, anti color material glitch, and material property swap glitch in LBP2. Maybe even remake them.2010-05-10 05:31:00

dunno, but if you can still play (and hopefully edit) your lbp1 levels, you should be able to retrieve some glitches...
Even if its just trough prizes...
Well.. I hope.

I so hope that the compression tool will work with lbp2! It's become a creator companion of mine2010-05-10 16:32:00

Well, chances are, they'll get rid of a lot, but, there will probably be a lot of new ones too.

So, quickly make every glitch and keep it on your moon in case.

The property swap glitch has been patched, but I'm hoping they don't put the kibosh on bakscratch's glitch. A lot of beautiful levels have made good use of it 2010-05-10 19:38:00

they'll have to keep them. MM hate breaking levels, that's why they patch making the glitch, not the glitch itself.2010-05-10 19:43:00

I hope they are all fixed to be honest. Never been a fan of glitches at all most of the time.
Besides, there will likely be loads more to be found.

On a similar note, I don't think there will need to be any use of the old glitches, namely the anti-colour one anyway.
Reading this page from EDGE (http://www.lbpmedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/page-5-Copy.jpg) (thanks Samalot), in the bottom right corner it notes that you can apply filters to specific areas of your level, and names one of them as "outline effects".
Which for me sounds like a similar end effect that the anti-colour gave as that were basically an outline effect itself.

True that there shouldnt be glitches in the game,
but you have to agree that most glitches have made a lot of stuff much easier to create for us editors.
And that results in happy players/better levels.

Well, yeah.
When used correctly the results can and have been great. I'll not argue with that.

But I like to see levels that can be amazing without having to resort to glitches to give it that extra "shine".

The way I read the interviews it seems they are hoping to get everything working but obviously it's still a work in progress, could yet have all out levels with glitches working. But the way I interpret it the less used or dodgey old glitches that got patched out are the ones in danger, as fans of the layer glitch I think that's one MM will try hard to get that functioning if they didn't already. The more obscure ones might be in danger though.2010-05-11 17:50:00

we will see,
I remember after each unrealed/max/photoshop update I allways missed some of the older functions,
but after working with them for weeks at end.. you get used at not having certain options because cooler ones took their place.

I really hope all my favorite glitches make the transfer. You should see my newest mech: there's more glitched stuff going on with it than there is unglitched. Almost half of what's there is invisible, including invisible floaty and tons of thin layer gas.

That said, much of what I use the glitches for will be unnecessary when lbp2 comes out. I won't need elaborate invisible tilt sensors when we have gyros to force things to stay upright. I won't need thin gas for logic when we can put all our logic inside a microchip. Still, I would miss the compression tool and the 3d layers if we lose them.
