My only wish!

I only wish that in this one we can manipulate liquids!
Imagine if you could make an actual waterfall or to run liquids thru pipe lines!
the possibilities are endless!

It's certainly a possibility... we haven't seen water yet in the new screenshots. We know it's going to HAVE water... Maaaybeee!2010-05-10 04:46:00

Would also be nice to be able to have just small patches of water at any elevation as long as it was enclosed, like an indoor pool, a small pond, rain puddles, anything of the sort.2010-05-10 04:47:00

I think it could happen. It really would make for some cool contraptions.2010-05-10 11:14:00

Unfortunatly the water physics would be just too much.2010-07-11 03:38:00

In LBP2 you can emit out water drops, its in one of Gevurah22's videos (he doesn't show it but he talks about it).2010-07-11 08:28:00

Care to place a link to the video?
No source is not really relieble most of the times m8.

Cyber is right. You can emit water, fire and some other droplets. 2010-07-11 08:52:00

The real properties of water in the game would be a plus, indeed.

Imagine, a swimming pool, above ground, in a garden, then its structure caves in and water pours into the garden... Hmm.

I think guy above is right water physics are very CPU consuming, try out OE-CAKE you will see that it slows down easily with just water simulation, what would happen if you would add game physics in to the play?

Indeed, just a dream... And I guess it would be even more difficult to give it to us as a tool. We can't create whole video games.

I played a level on Super Mario Bros Wii last night (I think it was 7-2), which had blue spheres floating up and down, and when you jumped in them you would swim. Led to some interesting (and difficult) gameplay, some of which I would love to recreate in LBP.2010-07-11 13:37:00

I think it would have the same properties as say, Dangerous Gas, in order for the game be able to handle it. Except when you hit it, you swim.
Which would be MAJORLY cutting corners.

Well fluid animation is already possible, but only if you want a game that lags as hell:

Yeah, slime (THAT'S RIGHT!) and I think plasma.

I think you should be able to section the water off.

No extra CPU power needed, surely, because it's exactly the same to simulate, but instead of going from one end of the map to the other, it simply goes between two points.

It would be nice if water was like dark matter it would just float but you could swim in it. The only way you would be able to make it move would be by piston. I don't think that would be too hard on the engine correct me if im wrong.2010-07-11 21:53:00

Wow! Just wow! That's amazing! Too bad it lags so much though.
Although if you look at some of the related vids you'll find an Nvida GF100 demo of the same thing with almost no lag whatsoever. And if you lead that to the other Nvidia demos (hair and grass, etc.) I think you might be amazed at what is possible in graphics nowadays

I would love it if there was a water material that floated like dark matter and made you swim when you come into contact with it. This would be absolutely amazing for new gameplay options

Yeah, it'd be great and all, but if you think about it, LBP complains if you have too many corners on an object, so think of simulating an object that has infinite number of corners! In order to really make water like that, you'd probably need to make it along the lines of a lot of little squares of sponges.

It is fun to wishfully think, though.

This is the best idea for the "water paradox", as we can still make pools and cups 'o water with that without complicating the engine.
Problem is... The water would stay there floating uncased? Well if you want realism you can encase it or if you want you cant leave that floating for a cool sci-fi effect.

well i seen in one of the videos on you tube alex evens showing a level and in that level i spotted some glass and behind it, it looked like there was some running water so we may be able to emit water because i knoe theres 4 types of bullets fire:slime:maybe gas:maybe water 2010-07-13 01:00:00

That's an animated material, and yes there are water bullets, but they break on impact with anything and will not fill containers.

Anyway it's a great solution for rain/waterfalls!
