how to get theck and thock or thack idk

So how do I get them and how does it work with the other layers? Also can anyone tell me how the dragons are so 3d and good looking in that war of the dragons series?2010-05-08 00:44:00

You can pretty much disregard thock until somebody finds a way to make thock material (assuming it's possible at all).

You can grab editable samples of theck and thack from several levels, such as my Glitched material level.
psn: Sehven
level name: Glitched Material Collection .... it's up in the north pole area.

Or you can create your own but the timing is a bit tricky. Make a block of thick material, then click L3 to copy it but don't paste it yet. Then click R2 to shorten it to a thin layer but almost immediately hit X to place the copy (you're placing the copy BEFORE it finishes turning to thin layer). Now select it and make sure that it doesn't pop back into a full thick or thin layer. If it didn't work, just try again--as I said, the timing is tricky, but with practice you should be able to do it easily enough.

To get thack, just reverse the process: start with a thin layer object and hit R1+X.

Note that it doesn't seem to work on any cardboard materials. If you need cardboard, create it in a different material and then mat change it to cardboard afterward.

As for how they work in the other layers: theck is about as thick as a checkpoint, and thack is about as thick as sackboy. They can exist in the same thick layer and overlap without colliding. You can't corner edit them while they're overlapping, and if you try to copy/paste thack in front of theck, it'll cut into it (so place it somewhere else and then move it over). Also you can't overlap them with the grid turned on.

Jon;

Comphermc just answered this question (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26293-Theck-and-Thack&p=457183&viewfull=1#post457183) three days ago, in a similar thread that is still active. I would recommend reading through that thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26293-Theck-and-Thack), and following all of the links posted in it. That should answer your question.

In general, to get "theck" (checkpoint thick material) or "thack" (sackboy thick material), you:

(1) Go to your Goodies bag and select the desired material,
(2) Select the desire shape and size, then
(3a) start with the thinnest setting (press R2 repeatedly). Then press R1 and X one right after the other. If you're lucky, you'll get a piece of Theck, which occupies the same space as checkpoints, or
(3b) start with the single-layer-thick setting (R1 or R2 as needed). Then press R2 and X one right after the other. If you're lucky, you'll get a piece of Thack, which occupies the same space as a sackperson.

This is how I've done it (in off-line Create Mode). Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't (you just get normal thin or normal thick material. It takes practice to get the timing down.

EDIT: Sehven and I simultaneously posted -- I think it's interesting that we get the material in different (but similar ways).

sorry I thought it was outdated because I saw 11-9-2009 or something like that, but that was one of the links I just found out

How does it work with the other layers though?

The first link I gave you, which says:

I'm afraid such a guide would be relatively short, but I can tell you some benefits and uses:

Theck is as thick as a checkpoint; thack is as thick as a golfball or a sackboy.
Theck is by far the most useful. It can be used as an additional layer with which to provide visual detail.
Both theck and thack are grabbable, but theck is only grabbable on the edges, when not directly in front of a thick or thin layer.
Theck can also be used to cover up anything in the thin layer that you don't want visible.
Thack is generally only useful when used in conjuction with theck, as theck can cleanly pass behind thack.
Since checkpoints are theck, by definition, they can move behind thack layers. This is useful for hidden checkpoints/respawns.
You cannot move theck behind thack when the grid is enabled. That said, a stiff, grid-aligned piston can. You can thusly use pistons to grid align them together.
You cannot corner edit theck if it is overlapping with either the thin layer behind it or the theck layer in front of it.
Theck collides with the normal thick layer, and is useful as a bumper to prevent thick objects from proceeding.
Theck can be made invisible, but must go smaller than you'd expect.
Thack is thinner in both the front and back. There is a gap behind where the theck layer can pass behind it, and there is also a gap in the front, for which there is no known material thickness to exist. This little lip can actually be useful for those who are picky and concerned with detail.

I'm sure I will add more, it's just hard to remember.

Honestly, I don't think I can build without them anymore. They are awesome!

I'll try this with a picture.

Here is what you are used to working with (where there are a total of 3 Thick and 4 Thin layers):
---------------------------
| Normal Thin Layer
---------------------------
|
|
|
| Normal Thick Layer
|
|
|
---------------------------
| Normal Thin Layer
---------------------------

The Theck, Thack, and Thock layers sub-divide the Normal Thick Layer, as follows:
---------------------------
| Normal Thin Layer
---------------------------
| "Theck" Layer
---------------------------
|
| "Thack" Layer
|
---------------------------
| "Thock" Layer
---------------------------
| Normal Thin Layer
---------------------------

In other words, they are sub-layers of the Normal Thick layer, that Mm didn't give us regular tools to access (although Mm creators obviously can). However, in their ever ingenious, ever persevering way, the Player-Creator community have found a few ways to access and use these sub-layers too (at least Theck and Thack).

Essentially. Normal Thick material takes up all three sub-layers. Level Entrances and Checkpoints live in the back "Theck" sub-layer. Your Sackperson and score-bubbles live in the middle "Thack" sub-layer (which is why you can run past a checkpoint without a collision, even when you and it are in the same normal Thick layer). Mm Objects have been found in the front "Thock" sub-layer, such as the front door of transport pod from the Incredibles expansion pack, but we don't have a way of using that layer yet....

-- Nanluin (who would have called them something like Thick-Sub-Layers (TSL) 1 to 3. I'm with Rtm on this one...)
