Grabbing with L1 and R1

As we all know, the L1 button doesn't do much in LBP. Sure, it makes the names of the sackperson appear, but what good is that? It doesn't really matter and R3 could be used to do that instead. Seeing as R1 makes the sackperson grab a grabbable object, perhaps the L1 button could do it too. Only, instead of both hands grabbing the object, the L1 button makes the left hand grab and R1 makes the right hand grab.
I have also noticed that the sackperson only uses one hand when using a paintinator. This could make way for being able to grab while still holding onto a paintinator!

This would be pretty useful, especially being able to grab stuff while using the paintinator
I think maybe that grabbing things with both hands could be frustrating though... your left hand might try to grab the thing you have in your right hand instead of whatever you were trying to grab and it might require a bunch of coding, but if they could find a way to make it work well, I am all for it

The only problem with this idea is it would ruin some levels.

There are some levels that require careful thought with the Paintinator and grabbing. It would ruin these.

The problem with gameplay changes is the fact that they might mess up certain levels. Like if, for a random example, they released a patch that made it possible to switch planes in water without grabbing somehow, it would mess up some levels that rely on this.

I know I've played levels that make use of the fact that you can't grab with a Paintinator.

a) its useless/ pointless

b) it would be a major level breaker as many levels use this "having to drop the paintinator to grab and continue" in their levels, allowing this would break those levels.

And grabbing with the left then the right hand is pretty pointless considering it better faster and easier to just make jumps like we alrady do.

If this was to be implemented, then they would probably make it L2 R2, instead of L1 R1, but really this idea does have a few flaws in it. Sorry man.2010-05-05 16:53:00

I think, that holding L1 when pushing an object (not grabbing, just running into it) stops you from automatically shifting layers, but im not sure.2010-05-05 17:12:00

Very good. Just because you don't use something doesn't mean others won't either. I use L1 to see who is who all the time when there's 3 or more players. It would get really annoying if every time I checked who is who I grabbed something by accident...

And it would break levels like Silverleon said. Maybe when/if LBP2 comes, I can see it working there, LBP1, no chance.

You cannot change anything about sackboy in LBP, as it would change alot more than you thing! Thats what the Power-ups are for - any extras you want for Sackboy must be Power-ups!2010-05-05 18:49:00
