I am learning different graphic software from Internet..I have started learning just before few days. Here I am little bit confuse that 'How does presentation-graphics software differ from multimedia-authoring software ?'Please share your thoughts regarding to that difference. | 2010-05-04 10:01:00 Author: Unknown User |
Is this some school project? The answer to your question is simple. presentation-graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, GIMP, PaintShopPro.....MS Paint *gulp* all alter images. Some can do more than that, like Photoshop, but in essence, they produce a flat (3D enthusiasts, don't get me started with the new PS 3d capabilities) image. Multi-media should present the biggest clue for the second one. Media can be flat images, animation, video, flash video or websites; all of which are structured very differently. For instance, Dreamweaver from Adobe is a tool of choice for many web-authors as it interprets a "design" view and writes the required script for you. I must say though that the gap between the two types of software is becoming greyer. More and more, these powerful packages are being developed to serve a wide range of media outputs. Adobe's range of products for instance is being blended together for easier workflows and more sympathetic import/export functions. Photoshop for many already has a "publish to web" function and now works with 3D models. Where does one stop? Even the lowly MS PowerPoint can embed multimedia objects, although it isn't in itself a graphics package. I guess the limit comes where each individual specilises in one area. I have several years experience with Illustrator and Photoshop and over the past 7 years, Dreamweaver. But that doesn't even come close to the possibilities achievable from the CS4 Master Collection I have just acquired... and of which I understand only a fraction of its capabilities. *Stops rambling* Hope that helps a bit.
